1 The lot was drawn for the families of the tribe of Judah. Their territory extends as far south as the territory of Edom and the desert of Zin.
1 A sorte que coube à tribo dos filhos de Judá, segundo as suas famílias, foi até ao termo de Edom, o deserto de Zim, para o sul, na extremidade do lado meridional.
2 The southern border starts from the south end of the Dead Sea
2 E foi o seu termo para o sul, desde a extremidade do Mar Salgado, desde a baía que olha para o sul;
3 and goes south of the Akrabbim Pass. It then passes Zin and goes up south of Kadesh Barnea. From there it goes to Hezron, up to Addar, around to Karka,
3 E sai para o sul, até à subida de Acrabim, e passa a Zim, e sobe do sul a Cades-Barnéia, e passa por Hezrom, e sobe a Adar, e vira para Carca;
4 and on to Azmon. It comes out at the River of Egypt so that the border ends at the Mediterranean Sea. This is the southern border.
4 E passa Azmom, e sai ao ribeiro do Egito, e as saídas deste termo vão até ao mar; este será o vosso termo do lado do sul.
5 The eastern border is the Dead Sea as far north as the mouth of the Jordan River.
5 O termo, porém, para o oriente será o Mar Salgado, até à foz do Jordão; e o termo para o norte será da baía do mar, desde a foz do Jordão.
6 and goes up to Beth Hoglah. It then passes north to Beth Arabah and goes up to the Rock of Bohan, son of Reuben.

7 From the valley of Achor, the border goes up to Debir and turns north to the region that faces the Adummim Pass, south of the valley. Then the border passes the Springs of En Shemesh and ends at En Rogel.
7 Subirá mais este termo a Debir desde o vale de Acor, indo para o norte rumo a Gilgal, a qual está em frente da subida de Adumim, que está para o sul do ribeiro; então este termo continua até às águas de En-Semes; e as suas saídas estão do lado de En-Rogel.
8 It continues up the valley of Ben Hinnom to the south slope of the Jebusite city Jerusalem. It then goes to the top of the mountain that overlooks the valley of Hinnom to the west at the north end of the valley of Rephaim.
8 E este termo sobe pelo vale do filho de Hinom, do lado sul dos jebuseus (esta é Jerusalém) e sobe este termo até ao cume do monte que está diante do vale de Hinom para o ocidente, que está no fim do vale dos refains do lado do norte.
9 From the top of that mountain the border goes around to the spring of Nephtoah. From there it goes to the cities of Mount Ephron and around to Baalah (now called Kiriath Jearim).
9 Então este termo vai desde a altura do monte até à fonte das águas de Neftoa; e sai até às cidades do monte de Efrom; vai mais este termo até Baalá (esta é Quiriate-Jearim).
10 From Baalah the border turns west to Mount Seir and over to the north slope of Mount Jearim (now called Chesalon). Then it goes down to Beth Shemesh and on to Timnah.
10 Então volta este termo desde Baalá para o ocidente, até às montanhas de Seir, e passa ao lado do monte de Jearim do lado do norte (esta é Quesalom) e desce a Bete-Semes, e passa por Timna;
11 From there the border goes on the north side of Ekron and turns to Shikkeron, on to Mount Baalah, and comes out at Jabneel. The border ends at the Mediterranean Sea.
11 Sai este termo mais ao lado de Ecrom, para o norte, e este termo vai a Sicrom e passa o monte de Baalá, e sai em Jabneel; e assim este termo finda no mar.
12 The western border is the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea. These are the borders around Judah that belong to their families.
12 Será, porém, o termo do lado do ocidente o Mar Grande, e suas adjacências; este é o termo dos filhos de Judá ao redor, segundo as suas famílias.
13 Joshua gave Caleb, son of Jephunneh, a share of land among the people of Judah as the Lord had told them. It was Kiriath Arba (now called Hebron). Arba was the father of Anak.
13 Mas a Calebe, filho de Jefoné, deu uma parte no meio dos filhos de Judá, conforme a ordem do Senhor a Josué; a saber, a cidade de Arba, que é Hebrom; este Arba era pai de Anaque.
14 Caleb forced out Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, three descendants of Anak from Hebron.

15 From there he marched against the people living in Debir. (In the past Debir was called Kiriath Sepher.)

16 Caleb said, “I will give my daughter Achsah as a wife to anyone who attacks Kiriath Sepher and captures it.”
16 E disse Calebe: Quem ferir a Quiriate-Sefer, e a tomar, lhe darei a minha filha Acsa por mulher.
17 Then Othniel, son of Caleb’s brother Kenaz, captured it. So Caleb gave him his daughter Achsah as a wife.
17 Tomou-a, pois, Otniel, filho de Quenaz, irmão de Calebe; e deu-lhe a sua filha Acsa por mulher.
18 When she came to Othniel, she persuaded him to ask her father for a field. When she got down from her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What do you want?”
18 E sucedeu que, vindo ela a ele, o persuadiu que pedisse um campo a seu pai; e ela desceu do seu jumento; então Calebe lhe disse: Que é que tens?
19 She answered, “Give me a blessing. Since you’ve given me some dry land, also give me some springs.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.
19 E ela disse: Dá-me uma bênção; pois me deste terra seca, dá-me também fontes de águas. Então lhe deu as fontes superiores e as fontes inferiores.
20 This is the land inherited by the families of the tribe of Judah.
20 Esta é a herança da tribo dos filhos de Judá, segundo as suas famílias.
21 On the farthest edge of the Negev, on the border of Edom, they gave the tribe of Judah 29 cities with their villages: Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,

63 However, Judah was not able to force out the people of Jebus who lived in Jerusalem. So they still live with Judah in Jerusalem today.
