GOD'S WORD (ENGGW) vs BKJ
1 Joram, son of Ahab, became king of Israel in Samaria during Jehoshaphat’s eighteenth year as king of Judah. He ruled for 12 years.
1 Ora, Jorão, o filho de Acabe, começou a reinar sobre Israel em Samaria, no décimo oitavo ano de Josafá, rei de Judá, e reinou por doze anos.
2 He did what the Lord considered evil, but he didn’t do what his father or mother had done. He put away the sacred stone that his father had set up and dedicated to Baal.
2 E ele fez o que era mau à vista do SENHOR; mas não como o seu pai, e sua mãe; porque removeu a imagem de Baal, que o seu pai havia feito.
3 But he would not give up the sins that Jeroboam (Nebat’s son) led Israel to commit. Joram would not turn away from those sins.
3 Todavia ele se apegou aos pecados de Jeroboão, o filho de Nebate, o qual fez Israel pecar; disso não se afastou.
4 King Mesha of Moab raised sheep. ⌞Each year⌟ he had to pay the king of Israel 100,000 male lambs and the wool from 100,000 rams.
4 E Mesa, rei de Moabe, era um negociante de ovelhas, e devolvia ao rei de Israel cem mil cordeiros, e cem mil carneiros, com a lã.
5 But when Ahab died, the king of Moab rebelled against the ⌞new⌟ king of Israel.
5 Porém, sucedeu, quando Acabe estava morto, que o rei de Moabe se rebelou contra o rei de Israel.
6 King Joram immediately left Samaria to prepare Israel’s army for war.
6 E naquele dia o rei Jorão saiu de Samaria e passou em revista a todo Israel.
7 He sent this message to King Jehoshaphat of Judah: “The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you fight Moab with me?”
7 E ele foi e enviou a Josafá, o rei de Judá, dizendo: O rei de Moabe tem se rebelado contra mim; tu virás comigo contra Moabe para a batalha? E ele disse: Eu subirei. Eu sou como tu és, o meu povo como o teu povo, e os meus cavalos como os teus cavalos.
8 Joram asked, “Which road should we take?”
8 E ele disse: Por qual caminho devemos subir? E ele respondeu: O caminho pelo meio do deserto de Edom.
9 So the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom took an indirect route ⌞to Moab⌟. After seven days they ran out of water for the army and the animals.
9 Partiram, pois, o rei de Israel, o rei de Judá e o rei de Edom; e eles promoveram um cerco de uma viagem de sete dias; e não houve água para o exército, e para o gado que os seguia.
10 The king of Israel said, “Oh no! The Lord has put the three of us at the mercy of ⌞the people of⌟ Moab.”
10 E o rei de Israel disse: Ai! O SENHOR chamou estes três reis juntos para entregá-los na mão de Moabe!
11 But Jehoshaphat asked, “Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord whom we could ask?”
11 Mas Josafá disse: Não há aqui um profeta do SENHOR, para que por ele possamos consultar o SENHOR? E um dos servos do rei de Israel respondeu e disse: Aqui está Eliseu, o filho de Safate, o qual derramou água nas mãos de Elias.
12 Jehoshaphat said, “The Lord’s word is with him.” So King Jehoshaphat of Judah, the king of Israel, and the king of Edom went to Elisha.
12 E Josafá disse: A palavra do SENHOR está com ele. Assim, o rei de Israel, e Josafá, e o rei de Edom desceram até ele.
13 Elisha asked the king of Israel, “Why did you come to me? Go to your father’s prophets or your mother’s prophets.”
13 E Eliseu disse ao rei de Israel: O que tenho eu contigo? Vai-te até os profetas do teu pai, e aos profetas da tua mãe. E o rei de Israel disse a ele: Não; porque o SENHOR chamou estes três reis juntos para entregá-los na mão de Moabe.
14 Elisha answered, “I solemnly swear, as the Lord of Armies whom I serve lives, I wouldn’t even bother to look at you or notice you if it weren’t for my respect for King Jehoshaphat of Judah.
14 E Eliseu disse: Vive o SENHOR dos Exércitos, diante de quem me ponho de pé, se não fosse por eu respeitar a presença de Josafá, o rei de Judá, eu nem olharia na tua direção, tampouco te veria.
15 But get me someone to play some music.”
15 Agora, porém, trazei-me um menestrel. E sucedeu, quando o menestrel tocou, que a mão do SENHOR veio sobre ele.
16 He said, “This is what the Lord says: Make this valley full of ditches.
16 E ele disse: Assim diz o SENHOR: Fazei este vale cheio de fossos.
17 You will not see wind or rain, but this valley will be filled with water. You, your cattle, and your other animals will drink.
17 Porque, assim diz o SENHOR: Vós não vereis vento, tampouco vereis chuva; mas aquele vale será cheio com água, para que possais beber, tanto vós, quanto o vosso gado e os vossos animais.
18 The Lord considers that an easy thing to do. In addition, he will put Moab at your mercy.
18 E isto não passa de coisa leve à vista do SENHOR. Ele também entregará os moabitas na vossa mão.
19 You will defeat every walled city and every important city. You will cut down every good tree, seal all the wells, and use rocks to ruin every good piece of land.”
19 E vós ferireis toda cidade fortificada, e toda cidade escolhida, e derrubareis toda árvore boa, e tampareis todos os poços de água, e contristareis todo bom lote de terra com pedras.
20 That is what happened in the morning. At the time of the grain offering, water flowed from Edom and filled the countryside.
20 E sucedeu, pela manhã, quando a oferta de carne era oferecida, eis que ali chegou água pelo caminho de Edom, e a terra foi cheia pela água.
21 All the people of Moab heard that the kings had come to fight them. So all men old enough to bear arms were called to fight. They stood at the border.
21 E quando todos os moabitas ouviram que os reis haviam subido para lutar contra eles, reuniram todos que eram capazes de se revestir de armadura, e daí para cima, e se puseram de pé na fronteira.
22 When the Moabites got up early in the morning as the sun was rising over the water, they saw the water from a distance. It was as red as blood.
22 E eles se levantaram cedo pela manhã, e o sol brilhou sobre a água, e os moabitas viram a água no outro lado tão vermelha quanto o sangue;
23 They said, “It’s blood! The kings have been fighting one another and have killed each other. Now, Moabites, let’s take their goods!”
23 e eles disseram: Isto é sangue; os reis estão seguramente mortos, e mataram-se uns aos outros. Agora, portanto, Moabe: Ao despojo!
24 So when the Moabites came to Israel’s camp, the Israelites attacked them, and they fled from the Israelites. Israel went after the Moabites and defeated them.
24 E, quando eles chegaram ao acampamento de Israel, os israelitas se levantaram e feriram os moabitas, de modo que fugiram de diante deles; mas eles seguiram adiante ferindo os moabitas, na sua própria terra.
25 Then Israel tore down the cities, each man throwing rocks on every good field until it was covered. They sealed every well and cut down every good tree. Only the stones ⌞in the walls⌟ of Kir Hareseth were left. Soldiers surrounded Kir Hareseth and attacked it with slings and stones.
25 E eles arrasaram as cidades, e em todo lote bom de terra cada homem lançou a sua pedra, e o encheu; e eles tamparam todos os poços de água, e derrubaram todas as árvores boas; somente em Quir-Haresete eles deixaram as suas pedras; todavia os fundeiros a cercaram e a feriram.
26 When the king of Moab saw he was losing the battle, he took 700 swordsmen to try to break through to the king of Edom. But they couldn’t do it.
26 E quando o rei de Moabe viu que a batalha era demasiadamente intensa para ele, levou consigo setecentos homens que empunhavam espadas, para abrir caminho até o rei de Edom, mas eles não conseguiram.
27 Then he took his firstborn son, who would have succeeded him as king, and sacrificed him on the wall as a burnt offering. There was bitter anger against the Israelites. So they went home to their own country.
27 Então, ele tomou o seu filho mais velho, que reinaria no seu lugar, e o ofereceu como oferta queimada sobre o muro. E houve uma grande indignação contra Israel; e eles se afastaram dele, e retornaram para a sua própria terra.
