1 It took Solomon 20 years to build the Lord’s house and his own house.
1 Ao cabo de vinte anos, Salomão tinha construído o templo do Senhor e sua própria residência.
2 He rebuilt the cities Huram gave him, and he had Israelites live in them.
2 Reconstruiu também as cidades que Hirão lhe tinha dado e nelas estabeleceu os israelitas.
3 Then Solomon went to Hamath Zobah and conquered it.
3 Em seguida, atacou Emat de Soba, e se apoderou dela.
4 He rebuilt Tadmor in the desert and built all the storage cities in Hamath.
4 Construiu Tadmor no deserto e todas as localidades que serviam de entreposto na terra de Emat.
5 He rebuilt Upper Beth Horon and Lower Beth Horon into cities fortified with walls, double-door gates, and bars.
5 Construiu Betoron superior e Betoron inferior, cidades fortificadas providas de muralhas, portas e ferrolhos.
6 ⌞He also rebuilt⌟ Baalath and all the storage cities that he owned. He built all the cities for his chariots, all the cities for his war horses, and whatever ⌞else⌟ he wanted to build in Jerusalem, Lebanon, or the entire territory that he governed.
6 Construiu Baalat e todas as localidades que lhe serviam de entrepostos de aprovisionamento, as cidades para os carros, as cidades para a cavalaria e tudo quanto achou bom construir em Jerusalém, no Líbano e em todo o território submetido ao seu poder.
7 The Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites had been left ⌞in the land⌟ because the Israelites had not been able to destroy them. They were not Israelites,
7 Toda a população que tinha sobrevivido dos hititas, dos amorreus, dos ferezeus, dos heveus e dos jebuseus, tudo o que não era de Israel -
8 but they had descendants who were still in the land. Solomon drafted them for slave labor. (They are still ⌞slaves⌟ today.)
8 todos os descendentes desses povos que tinham ficado na terra sem que Israel tivesse podido exterminar -, Salomão submeteu-os como pessoal de trabalho pesado, o que são ainda hoje.
9 But Solomon didn’t make any of the Israelites slaves for his projects. Instead, they were the soldiers, officers, generals, and commanders of his chariot and cavalry units.
9 Nenhum israelita foi empregado nos trabalhos de Salomão como escravo: foram seus guerreiros, chefes de suas tropas de eleição, comandantes de seus carros e de sua cavalaria.
10 These were the officers in charge of King Solomon’s projects: 250 foremen for the people who did the work.
10 Os contramestres do rei, colocados à frente dos obreiros, eram duzentos e cinqüenta.
11 Solomon brought Pharaoh’s daughter from the City of David to a palace he had built for her. He said, “My wife will not live in the palace of King David of Israel because these places where the Lord’s ark has come are holy.”
11 Salomão mandou buscar a filha do faraó da cidade de Davi para a residência que lhe construiu. Minha mulher, disse ele, não deve habitar na casa de Davi, rei de Israel. Essa habitação, na qual entrou a arca do Senhor, é um santuário.
12 Then Solomon sacrificed burnt offerings to the Lord on the Lord’s altar that he built in front of the entrance hall.
12 Então Salomão ofereceu ao Senhor holocaustos no seu altar, que tinha construído diante do pórtico.
13 He sacrificed every day, on weekly days of rest—holy days, on the New Moon Festivals, and on the three annual festivals (the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Booths) as Moses had commanded.
13 Cada dia oferecia os sacrifícios prescritos por Moisés; igualmente, aos sábados, nas neomênias, e nas três festas do ano: festa dos Ázimos, festa das Semanas e festa dos Tabernáculos.
14 As Solomon’s father David had directed, he set up the divisions of priests for their service and the ⌞divisions of⌟ Levites for their appointed places. ⌞The Levites⌟ were to lead in praising ⌞the \+nd Lord\+nd*⌟ and to serve beside the priests by doing whatever needed to be done each day. Solomon also set up divisions of doorkeepers at every gate because this is what David, the man of God, had commanded.
14 Conforme as disposições tomadas por seu pai Davi, empossou as diversas classes de sacerdotes em suas funções, assim como os levitas, em seus ministérios de louvar o Senhor e no seu serviço quotidiano em presença dos sacerdotes; finalmente, os porteiros para cada porta, de acordo com sua categoria. Assim tinha mandado o homem de Deus, Davi.
15 No one neglected the king’s orders to the priests or the Levites in any matter, including the ⌞temple’s⌟ finances.
15 Em nada se afastaram das disposições que tinha tomado com referência aos sacerdotes, aos levitas e ao que se relacionava com os tesouros.
16 All of Solomon’s work was carried out from the day the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid until it was completed. The Lord’s temple was ⌞now⌟ finished.
16 Dessa forma foi levada a efeito toda a obra de Salomão, desde a fundação do templo até seu acabamento. O templo do Senhor estava, pois, terminado.
17 Then Solomon went to the coast near Ezion Geber and Elath in Edom.
17 Então Salomão dirigiu-se a Asiongaber e a Ailat, nas praias do mar, na terra de Edom.
18 Huram sent his own servants and his experienced sailors with ships to Solomon. They went with Solomon’s servants to Ophir, got 33,750 pounds of gold, and brought it to King Solomon.
18 Hirão enviou-lhe, por meio de seus servos, navios e marinheiros experimentados. Eles foram a Ofir com os servos de Salomão, e de lá trouxeram ao rei quatrocentos e cinqüenta talentos de ouro.
