GOD'S WORD (ENGGW) vs ARA
1 When the Philistines were fighting against Israel, the men of Israel fled from the Philistines and were killed in battle on Mount Gilboa.
1 Entretanto, os filisteus pelejaram contra Israel, e, tendo os homens de Israel fugido de diante dos filisteus, caíram feridos no monte Gilboa.
2 The Philistines caught up to Saul and his sons. They killed Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malchishua, Saul’s sons.
2 Os filisteus apertaram com Saul e seus filhos e mataram Jônatas, Abinadabe e Malquisua, filhos de Saul.
3 The heaviest fighting was against Saul. When the archers got him in their range, he was badly wounded by them.
3 Agravou-se a peleja contra Saul; os flecheiros o avistaram, e ele muito os temeu.
4 Saul told his armorbearer, “Draw your sword! Stab me, or these godless men will come, stab me, and make fun of me.” But his armorbearer refused because he was terrified. So Saul took the sword and fell on it.
4 Então, disse Saul ao seu escudeiro: Arranca a tua espada e atravessa-me com ela, para que, porventura, não venham estes incircuncisos, e me traspassem, e escarneçam de mim. Porém o seu escudeiro não o quis, porque temia muito; então, Saul tomou da espada e se lançou sobre ela.
5 When the armorbearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword and died with him.
5 Vendo, pois, o seu escudeiro que Saul já era morto, também ele se lançou sobre a sua espada e morreu com ele.
6 So Saul, his three sons, his armorbearer, and all his men died together that day.
6 Morreu, pois, Saul, e seus três filhos, e o seu escudeiro, e também todos os seus homens foram mortos naquele dia com ele.
7 When the people of Israel on the other side of the valley and across the Jordan River saw that the men of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities. So the Philistines came to live in these cities.
7 Vendo os homens de Israel que estavam deste lado do vale e daquém do Jordão que os homens de Israel fugiram e que Saul e seus filhos estavam mortos, desampararam as cidades e fugiram; e vieram os filisteus e habitaram nelas.
8 The next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, they found Saul and his three sons lying on Mount Gilboa.
8 Sucedeu, pois, que, vindo os filisteus ao outro dia a despojar os mortos, acharam Saul e seus três filhos caídos no monte Gilboa.
9 They cut off his head and stripped off his armor. Then they sent men throughout Philistine territory to tell the people this good news in their idols’ temples.
9 Cortaram a cabeça a Saul e o despojaram das suas armas; enviaram mensageiros pela terra dos filisteus, em redor, a levar as boas-novas à casa dos seus ídolos e entre o povo.
10 They put his armor in the temple of their goddesses—the Asherahs—and fastened his corpse to the wall of Beth Shan.
10 Puseram as armas de Saul no templo de Astarote e o seu corpo afixaram no muro de Bete-Seã.
11 When the people living in Jabesh Gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul,
11 Então, ouvindo isto os moradores de Jabes-Gileade, o que os filisteus fizeram a Saul,
12 all the fighting men marched all night and took the dead bodies of Saul and his sons from the wall of Beth Shan. They came back to Jabesh and burned the bodies there.
12 todos os homens valentes se levantaram, e caminharam toda a noite, e tiraram o corpo de Saul e os corpos de seus filhos do muro de Bete-Seã, e, vindo a Jabes, os queimaram.
13 They took the bones and buried them under the tamarisk tree in Jabesh. Then they fasted seven days.
13 Tomaram-lhes os ossos, e os sepultaram debaixo de um arvoredo, em Jabes, e jejuaram sete dias.
