1 David consulted with every officer who commanded a regiment or battalion.
1 E Davi consultou os capitães de milhares e centúrias, e cada líder.
2 Then he told the whole assembly of Israel, “If you approve and if the Lord our God has consented, we will send ⌞an invitation⌟ to the rest of our relatives in every region of Israel and to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands so that they may join us.
2 Davi disse a toda a congregação de Israel: Se vos parecer bom, e que isto é do SENHOR nosso Deus, enviemos, aos nossos irmãos em todos os lugares, que restaram em toda a terra de Israel, e com eles também aos sacerdotes e levitas os quais estão nas suas cidades e arredores, para que eles possam se juntar a nós;
3 Then we’ll bring back our God’s ark, which we ignored while Saul was king.”
3 E tornemos a trazer para nós a arca do nosso Deus; porque não a buscamos nos dias de Saul.
4 The whole assembly agreed to this because the people considered it the right thing to do.
4 E toda a congregação disse que faria assim; porque a coisa era correta aos olhos de todo o povo.
5 So David gathered all Israel from the Shihor River near Egypt to the border of Hamath in order to bring God’s ark from Kiriath Jearim.
5 Assim, Davi reuniu todo o Israel, desde Sior do Egito até a entrada de Hamate, para trazer a arca de Deus, de Quiriate-Jearim.
6 David and all Israel went to Baalah in Kiriath Jearim, which is in Judah, to bring God’s ark ⌞to Jerusalem⌟. (The Lord is enthroned over the angels ⌞on the ark⌟ where his name is used.)
6 E Davi e todo o Israel, subiu para Baalá, isto é, para Quiriate-Jearim, a qual pertencia a Judá, para de lá trazer a arca de Deus, o SENHOR que habita entre os querubins, sobre a qual é invocado o seu nome.
7 David and his men put God’s ark on a new cart from Abinadab’s home. Uzzah and Ahio guided the cart.
7 E eles carregaram a arca de Deus em uma carruagem nova, da casa de Abinadabe; e Uzá e Aiô conduziram a carruagem.
8 David and all Israel were celebrating in God’s presence with all their might, with songs, with lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.
8 E Davi e todo o Israel se alegravam diante de Deus com toda a sua força, e com cânticos, e com harpas, e com saltérios, e com adufes, e com címbalos, e com trombetas.
9 But when they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, the oxen stumbled. So Uzzah reached out to grab the ark.
9 E, quando eles chegaram à eira de Quidom, Uzá estendeu a sua mão para segurar a arca; porque os bois tropeçavam.
10 The Lord became angry with Uzzah and killed him for reaching for the ark. He died in God’s presence.
10 E a ira do SENHOR foi acesa contra Uzá, e ele o feriu, porque pôs a sua mão na arca; e ali morreu diante de Deus.
11 David was angry because the Lord had struck Uzzah so violently. (That place is still called Perez Uzzah [The Striking of Uzzah] today.)
11 E Davi ficou aborrecido, porque o SENHOR havia feito uma fenda sobre Uzá; porquanto aquele lugar é chamado de Perez-Uzá até este dia.
12 David was afraid of God that day. “How can I bring God’s ark to my ⌞city⌟?” he asked.
12 E Davi ficou com temor de Deus naquele dia, dizendo: Como trarei para mim a arca de Deus?
13 So he didn’t bring God’s ark to his ⌞home⌟, the City of David. Instead, he rerouted it to the home of Obed Edom, who was from Gath.
13 Assim, Davi não trouxe a arca até ele, na cidade de Davi; mas carregou-a para dentro da casa de Obede-Edom, o geteu.
14 God’s ark stayed at the home of Obed Edom with his family for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed Edom’s family and everything he owned.
14 E a arca de Deus permaneceu na casa da família de Obede-Edom, três meses. E o SENHOR abençoou a casa de Obede-Edom, e tudo o que ele tinha.
