1 So King Zerk-sees (Xerxes) and Haman went to have a second supper with Queen Esther.
1 Assim, vieram o rei e Hamã para o banquete com a rainha Ester.
2 When they were drinking wine, Zerk-sees asked Esther again, “What do you want Queen Esther? I will give you whatever you want, even if it is half of my country.”
2 E o rei disse novamente a Ester, no segundo dia do banquete do vinho: Qual é a tua petição, rainha Ester? E te será concedida; e qual é o teu pedido? E ele será atendido, até a metade do reino.
3 Then Queen Esther answered, “You have asked me what I want and this is my answer. If you are happy with me, my king, and if it makes you happy, can you save me and my people?
3 Então respondeu a rainha Ester, e disse: Se tenho achado favor à tua vista, ó rei, e se aprouver ao rei, que a minha vida me seja dada diante da minha petição, e o meu povo diante do meu pedido;
4 Someone is trying to kill me and all my people. They want to finish us up and make it look like we were never alive. If we were going to be sold as slaves that would be all right and I wouldn't have said anything to you, but someone wants to kill me and all my people.”
4 porque fomos vendidos, eu e o meu povo, para sermos destruídos, para sermos mortos, e para perecer. Mas se tivéssemos sido vendidos como servos e servas, eu teria segurado a minha língua, embora o inimigo não pudesse compensar a injúria do rei.
5 King Zerk-sees said to Esther, “Who wants to kill you? Who has made up his mind to do such a bad thing? Where is that man?”
5 Então, o rei Assuero respondeu e disse a rainha Ester: Quem é ele, e onde está aquele que ousou presumir no seu coração fazer assim?
6 Esther said, “That man sitting next to you. He is really bad and he is the one who hates me and my people. He is the enemy of my people.” Esther pointed to Haman, the man who wanted to kill all the Jews|src="co01286b.TIF" size="col" copy="David C Cook Publishing Co.1996" ref="7:6"
6 E Ester disse: O adversário e o inimigo é este iníquo Hamã. Então Hamã ficou temeroso diante do rei e da rainha.
7 The king was so wild, he got up. He left the wine he was drinking and walked out into the palace garden. But Haman stayed inside and asked Queen Esther again and again to save his life. He knew that the king was going to tell his soldiers to kill him.
7 E o rei, na sua ira, levantando-se do banquete do vinho, adentrou o jardim do palácio; e Hamã se pôs em pé, para fazer pedido à rainha Ester pela sua vida; porque viu que já o mal lhe estava determinado pelo rei.
8 When King Zerk-sees came back to the supper room after walking in the garden, he saw Haman falling down on the long chair Esther was lying on. The king shouted out loud, “Haman is trying to hurt the queen. And he is doing it in front of me and in my own house!”
8 Então, o rei retornou do jardim do palácio para o local do banquete de vinho; e Hamã estava caído sobre o leito em que estava Ester. Então, disse o rei: Porventura quereria ele também forçar a rainha diante de mim nesta casa? Saindo esta palavra da boca do rei, eles cobriram a face de Hamã.
9 Harbona, one of the king's special workers said to Zerk-sees, “King Zerk-sees, Haman told his workers to build a very high pole in front of his house. He was going to ask you to put More-dek-eye (Mordecai) up on it. More-dek-eye was the man that warned you about the men who wanted to kill you.”
9 E Harbona, um dos camareiros, disse diante do rei: Eis que também a forca de cinquenta côvados de altura que Hamã fizera para Mardoqueu, que havia falado o bem para o rei, está junto à casa de Hamã. Então, o rei disse: Enforcai-o nela.
10 So, the king's soldiers put Haman up on the pole that was made to kill More-dek-eye. Then the king stopped being angry.
10 Assim, eles enforcaram Hamã na forca que ele havia preparado para Mardoqueu. Então, foi a ira do rei pacificada.
