1 My spirit is consumed, my days are extinct, The grave is
1 “O meu espírito vai se consumindo, os meus dias vão se apagando, e só tenho diante de mim a sepultura.
2 Surely there are mockers with me, And mine eye dwelleth upon their provocation.
2 Estou cercado de zombadores, e os meus olhos são obrigados a contemplar as suas provocações.”
3 Give now a pledge, be surety for me with thyself; Who is there that will strike hands with me?
3 “Dá-me, ó Deus, um penhor, e sê o meu fiador diante de ti; quem mais haverá que possa se comprometer comigo?
4 For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: Therefore shalt thou not exalt
4 Fechaste o coração deles para o entendimento, e por isso não os exaltarás.
5 He that denounceth his friends for a prey, Even the eyes of his children shall fail.
5 Se alguém entrega os seus amigos como presa, os olhos de seus filhos desfalecerão.
6 But he hath made me a byword of the people; And they spit in my face.
6 Mas ele me pôs por provérbio dos povos; tornei-me como aquele em cujo rosto se cospe.
7 Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, And all my members are as a shadow.
7 Os meus olhos se escureceram de mágoa, e todos os meus membros são como a sombra.
8 Upright men shall be astonished at this, And the innocent shall stir up himself against the godless.
8 Os retos ficam admirados com isto, e os inocentes se levantam contra os ímpios.
9 Yet shall the righteous hold on his way, And he that hath clean hands shall wax stronger and stronger.
9 O justo segue o seu caminho, e o puro de mãos se torna cada vez mais forte.
10 But as for you all, come on now again; And I shall not find a wise man among you.
10 Mas voltem, todos vocês, e venham cá; porque não acharei nenhum sábio entre vocês.”
11 My days are past, my purposes are broken off, Even the thoughts of my heart.
11 “Os meus dias passaram, e fracassaram os meus planos, os desejos do meu coração.
12 They change the night into day: The light,
12 Transformam a noite em dia, e dizem: ‘A luz está perto das trevas.’
13 If I look for Sheol as my house; If I have spread my couch in the darkness;
13 Mas, se eu aguardo a sepultura por minha casa; se faço a minha cama nas trevas;
14 If I have said to corruption, Thou art my father; To the worm,
14 se digo à cova: ‘Você é o meu pai’, e aos vermes: ‘Vocês são a minha mãe e a minha irmã’,
15 Where then is my hope? And as for my hope, who shall see it?
15 onde está, então, a minha esperança? Sim, a minha esperança, quem a poderá ver?
16 It shall go down to the bars of Sheol, When once there is rest in the dust.
16 Ela descerá até as portas do mundo dos mortos, quando juntos descansarmos no pó.”
