1 And it came to passe when Iesus had made an ende of commaundinge his .xii. disciples that he departed thence to teache and to preache in their cities.
1 E aconteceu que, tendo Jesus terminado de dar instruções aos seus doze discípulos, ele partiu dali para ensinar e pregar nas cidades deles.
2 When Ihon beinge in preson hearde the workes of Christ he sent two of his disciples
2 Ora, quando João ouviu na prisão sobre as obras de Cristo, ele enviou dois dos seus discípulos,
3 and sayde vnto him. Arte thou he that shall come: or shall we loke for another.
3 a dizer-lhe: És tu aquele que havia de vir, ou aguardamos outro?
4 Iesus answered and sayde vnto them. Go and shewe Ihon what ye have hearde and sene.
4 Jesus lhes respondeu: Ide, e mostrai a João novamente as coisas que ouvis e vedes:
5 The blynd se the halt goo the lepers are clensed: the deef heare the ded ryse ageyne and the glad tidinges is preached to the povre.
5 Os cegos recebem a sua visão, e os coxos andam; os leprosos são purificados, e os surdos ouvem; os mortos são ressuscitados, e aos pobres é pregado o evangelho.
6 And happy is he that is not offended by me.
6 E abençoado é aquele que não se ofender em mim.
7 And as they departed Iesus begane to speake vnto the people of Ihon. What for to se wet ye out in to the wyldernes? wet ye out to se a rede shake with the wynde?
7 E, partindo eles, começou Jesus a dizer às multidões a respeito de João: O que fostes ver no deserto? Um caniço agitado pelo vento?
8 other what wet ye out for to se? A man clothed in soofte raymet:? Beholde they that weare soofte clothing are in kynges howses.
8 Mas o que fostes ver? Um homem trajado de roupas finas? Eis que os que se vestem de roupas finas estão nas casas dos reis.
9 But what wet ye oute for to se? A prophete? Ye I saye to you and more the a prophete.
9 Mas o que fostes ver? Um profeta? Sim, eu vos digo, e muito mais do que profeta.
10 For this is he of who it is wrytte. Beholde I sende my messenger before thy face which shall prepare thy waye before the
10 Porque este é aquele, de quem está escrito: Eis que diante da tua face eu envio o meu mensageiro, que preparará diante de ti o teu caminho.
11 Verely I saye vnto you amonge the chyldren of wemen arose there not a gretter then Ihon the baptist. Notwithstondinge he that ys lesse in the kyngdome of heven ys gretter then he.
11 Na verdade eu vos digo: Dentre os nascidos de mulheres, não apareceu um maior do que João, o Batista; contudo aquele que é o menor no reino do céu é maior do que ele.
12 From the tyme of Ihon Baptist hytherto the kyngdome of heven suffreth violence and they that go to it with violence pluck it vnto them.
12 E, desde os dias de João, o Batista, até agora, o reino do céu sofre violência, e os violentos o tomam pela força.
13 For all the prophetes and the lawe prophesyed vnto to the tyme of Ihon.
13 Pois todos os profetas e a lei profetizaram até João.
14 Also yf ye wyll receave it this is Helyas which shuld come.
14 E se vós quiserdes aceitar, este é Elias, o que havia de vir.
15 He that hathe eares to heare let him heare.
15 Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir, ouça.
16 But wher vnto shall I lyken this generacion? It ys lyke vnto chyldre which syt in the market and call vnto their felowes
16 Mas, a quem eu compararei esta geração? É semelhante às crianças que se assentam nos mercados, e chamam aos seus companheiros,
17 and saye: we have pyped vnto you and ye have not daunsed? We have morned vnto you and ye have not sorowed.
17 dizendo: Tocamo-vos flauta, e não dançastes; cantamo-vos murmurações, e não lamentastes.
18 For Ihon came nether eatinge nor drinkinge and they saye he hath the devyll.
18 Portanto veio João, não comia nem bebia, e dizem: Ele tem um demônio.
19 The sonne of man came eatinge and drinkinge and they saye beholde a glutton and drynker of wyne and a frend vnto publicans and synners. Never the later wysdome ys iustified of hir children.
19 Veio o Filho do homem, comendo e bebendo, e dizem: Eis aí um homem comilão e beberrão, amigo dos publicanos e pecadores. Mas a sabedoria é justificada por seus filhos.
20 Then began he to vpbrayd the cities in which most of his miracles were done because they meded not.
20 Então ele começou a repreender as cidades nas quais se havia feito a maioria das suas poderosas obras, porque eles não se arrependeram.
21 Wo be to the Chorasin. Wo be to the Betzaida: for if the miracles which were shewd in you had bene done in Tyre and Sidon they had repented longe agone in sackcloth and asshes.
21 Ai de ti, Corazim! Ai de ti, Betsaida! Porque, se em Tiro e em Sidom fossem feitas as poderosas obras que em vós se fizeram, há muito eles teriam se arrependido, em pano de saco e cinza.
22 Neverthelesse I say to you: it shall be esier for Tyre and Sidon at the day of iudgement then for you.
22 Mas eu vos digo que haverá mais tolerância no dia do juízo para Tiro e Sidom do que para vós.
23 And thou Capernaum which art lift vp vnto heven shalt be brought doune to hell. For if the miracles which have bene done in the had bene shewed in zodom: they had remayned to this daye.
23 E tu, Cafarnaum, exaltada até ao céu, serás derrubada para o inferno; porque, se em Sodoma tivessem sido feitas obras poderosas que em ti se fizeram, teria permanecido até hoje.
24 Neverthelesse I saye vnto you: it shalbe easiar for the londe of zodom in the daye of iudgement then for the.
24 Mas eu vos digo que haverá mais tolerância no dia do juízo para os de Sodoma do que para ti.
25 At that tyme Iesus answered and sayd: I prayse the o father lorde of heven and erth because thou hast hid these thinges from the wyse and prudet and hast opened the vnto babes:
25 Naquele momento, Jesus respondeu e disse: Graças te dou, ó Pai, Senhor do céu e da terra, porque tu ocultaste estas coisas aos sábios e prudentes, e as revelaste às criancinhas.
26 even so father for so it pleased the.
26 Sim, Pai, pois assim foi agradável diante de ti.
27 All thinges are geve vnto me of my father. And noma knoweth the sonne but the father: nether knoweth eny man the father save the sonne and he to whome the sonne will open him.
27 Todas as coisas me foram entregues por meu Pai, e nenhum homem conhece o Filho, senão o Pai; e nenhum homem conhece o Pai, senão o Filho, e aquele a quem o Filho o quiser revelar.
28 Come vnto me all ye that laboure and are laden and I wyll ease you.
28 Vinde a mim, todos vós que estais cansados e sobrecarregados, e eu vos darei descanso.
29 Take my yoke on you and lerne of me for I am meke and lowly in herte: and ye shall fynd rest vnto youre soules.
29 Tomai sobre vós o meu jugo, e aprendei de mim, pois eu sou manso e humilde de coração; e encontrareis descanso para as vossas almas.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
30 Porque o meu jugo é suave, e o meu fardo é leve.
