1 “For the leader of the music. To the tune of “Do not destroy.” A psalm of David.” Do ye, indeed, administer justice faithfully, ye mighty ones? Do ye judge with uprightness, ye sons of men?
1 Será que vocês, autoridades, dão sentenças justas? Será que julgam com justiça as pessoas?
2 Nay, in your hearts ye contrive iniquity; Your hands weigh out violence in the land!
2 Não. Vocês só pensam em fazer o mal e cometem crimes de violência no país.
3 The wicked are estranged, from their very birth; The liars go astray as soon as they are born.
3 Os maus passam a vida praticando o mal; desde o dia em que nascem, só contam mentiras.
4 They have poison, like the poison of a serpent; Like the deaf adder's, which stoppeth her ear;
4 Estão cheios de veneno como as cobras; tapam os ouvidos como uma cobra que se faz de surda,
5 Which listeneth not to the voice of the charmer, And of the sorcerer, skilful in incantations.
5 que não quer ouvir a voz do encantador de serpentes.
6 Break their teeth, O God! in their mouths! Break out the great teeth of the lions, O LORD!
6 Ó Deus, quebra os dentes dos maus! Ó desses leões ferozes!
7 May they melt like waters, which flow away; May their arrows, when they aim them, be as if cut in pieces!
7 Que os maus desapareçam como a água derramada na terra! Que sejam esmagados como a erva que nasce no caminho!
8 May they be like the snail, which melteth away as it goeth; Like the abortion of a woman, that seeth not the sun!
8 Que se derretam como o caracol na lama! Que sejam como a criança que nasce morta, que nunca viu a luz do sol!
9 Before your pots feel the heat of the thorns, Whether fresh, or burning, may they be blown away!
9 Antes que os maus percebam o que está acontecendo, serão cortados como mato. Enquanto ainda estiverem vivos, Deus, em sua fúria terrível, os expulsará com um sopro.
10 The righteous shall rejoice, when he seeth such vengeance; He shall bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked.
10 Os bons ficarão contentes ao verem os maus sendo castigados; os bons lavarão os pés no sangue deles.
11 Then shall men say, “Truly there is a reward for the righteous! Truly there is a God who is judge upon the earth!”
11 E as pessoas dirão: “De fato, os bons são recompensados. Realmente existe um Deus que julga o mundo.”
