1 Moreover Elihu proceeded, and said:
1 Disse mais Eliú:
2 Dost thou then think this to be right? Thou hast said, “I am more righteous than God.”
2 Tens por direito dizeres: Maior é a minha justiça do que a de Deus?
3 For thou askest, “What advantage have I? What have I gained, more than if I had sinned?”
3 Porque dizes: Que me aproveita? Que proveito tenho mais do que se eu tivera pecado?
4 I will answer thee, And thy companions with thee.
4 Eu te darei respostas, a ti e aos teus amigos contigo.
5 Look up to the heavens, and see! And behold the clouds, which are high above thee!
5 Atenta para os céus, e vê; e contempla o firmamento que é mais alto do que tu.
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against Him? If thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou to him?
6 Se pecares, que efetuarás contra ele? Se as tuas transgressões se multiplicarem, que lhe farás com isso?
7 If thou art righteous, what dost thou give him? Or what receiveth he at thy hand?
7 Se fores justo, que lhe darás, ou que receberá ele da tua mão?
8 Thy wickedness injureth only a man like thyself, And thy righteousness profiteth only a son of man.
8 A tua impiedade poderia fazer mal a outro tal como tu; e a tua justiça poderia aproveitar a um filho do homem.
9 The oppressed cry out on account of the multitude of wrongs; They cry aloud on account of the arm of the mighty.
9 Por causa da multidão das opressões os homens clamam; clamam por socorro por causa do braço dos poderosos.
10 But none saith, “Where is God, my Maker, Who giveth songs in the night;
10 Mas ninguém diz: Onde está Deus meu Criador, que inspira canções durante a noite;
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, And maketh us wiser than the birds of heaven?”
11 que nos ensina mais do que aos animais da terra, e nos faz mais sábios do que as aves do céu?
12 There they cry aloud on account of the pride of the wicked; But he giveth no answer.
12 Ali clamam, porém ele não responde, por causa da arrogância os maus.
13 For God will not hear the vain supplication, Nor will the Almighty regard it;
13 Certo é que Deus não ouve o grito da vaidade, nem para ela atentará o Todo-Poderoso.
14 Much less when thou sayest thou canst not see him: Justice is with him,—only wait thou for him!
14 Quanto menos quando tu dizes que não o vês. A causa está perante ele; por isso espera nele.
15 But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, Nor taken strict note of transgression,
15 Mas agora, porque a sua ira ainda não se exerce, nem grandemente considera ele a arrogância,
16 Therefore hath Job opened his mouth rashly, And multiplied words without knowledge.
16 por isso abre Jó em vão a sua boca, e sem conhecimento multiplica palavras.
