2 For|strong="G1063" in many things|strong="G4183" we offend|strong="G4417" all|strong="G0537". If|strong="G1487" any man|strong="G5100" offend|strong="G4417" not|strong="G3756" in|strong="G1722" word|strong="G3056", the same|strong="G3778" is a perfect|strong="G5046" man|strong="G0435", and able|strong="G1415" also|strong="G2532" to bridle|strong="G5468" the whole|strong="G3650" body|strong="G4983".
3 Behold|strong="G2400", we put|strong="G0906" bits|strong="G5469" in|strong="G1519" the horses’|strong="G2462" mouths|strong="G4750", that|strong="G4314" they|strong="G0846" may obey|strong="G3982" us|strong="G2254"; and|strong="G2532" we turn about|strong="G3329" their|strong="G0846" whole|strong="G3650" body|strong="G4983".
4 Behold|strong="G2400" also|strong="G2532" the ships|strong="G4143", which though|strong="G5607" they be so great|strong="G5082", and|strong="G2532" are driven|strong="G1643" of|strong="G5259" fierce|strong="G4642" winds|strong="G0417", yet are they turned about|strong="G3329" with|strong="G5259" a very small|strong="G1646" helm|strong="G4079", whithersoever|strong="G3699" the governor|strong="G3730" listeth|strong="G1014".
5 Even|strong="G2532" so|strong="G3779" the tongue|strong="G1100" is|strong="G2076" a little|strong="G3398" member|strong="G3196", and|strong="G2532" boasteth great things|strong="G3166". Behold|strong="G2400", how great|strong="G2245" a matter|strong="G5208" a little|strong="G3641" fire|strong="G4442" kindleth|strong="G0381"!
6 And|strong="G2532" the tongue|strong="G1100" is a fire|strong="G4442", a world|strong="G2889" of iniquity|strong="G0093": so|strong="G3779" is|strong="G2525" the tongue|strong="G1100" among|strong="G1722" our|strong="G2257" members|strong="G3196", that it defileth|strong="G4695" the whole|strong="G3650" body|strong="G4983", and|strong="G2532" setteth on fire|strong="G5394" the course|strong="G5164" of nature|strong="G1078"; and|strong="G2532" it is set on fire|strong="G5394" of|strong="G5259" hell|strong="G1067".
7 For|strong="G1063" every|strong="G3956" kind|strong="G5449" of beasts|strong="G2342", and|strong="G2532" of birds|strong="G4071", and|strong="G5037" of serpents|strong="G2062", and|strong="G2532" of things in the sea|strong="G1724", is tamed|strong="G1150", and|strong="G2532" hath been tamed|strong="G1150" of mankind|strong="G0442":
8 But|strong="G1161" the tongue|strong="G1100" can|strong="G1410" no|strong="G3762" man|strong="G0444" tame|strong="G1150"; it is an unruly|strong="G0183" evil|strong="G2556", full|strong="G3324" of deadly|strong="G2287" poison|strong="G2447".
9 Therewith|strong="G0846" bless we|strong="G2127" God|strong="G2316", even|strong="G2532" the Father|strong="G3962"; and|strong="G2532" therewith|strong="G0846" curse we|strong="G2672" men|strong="G0444", which|strong="G3588" are made|strong="G1096" after|strong="G2596" the similitude|strong="G3669" of God|strong="G2316".
10 Out of|strong="G1537" the same|strong="G0846" mouth|strong="G4750" proceedeth|strong="G1831" blessing|strong="G2129" and|strong="G2532" cursing|strong="G2671". My|strong="G3450" brethren|strong="G0080", these things|strong="G5023" ought|strong="G5534" not|strong="G3756" so|strong="G3779" to be|strong="G1096".
11 Doth|strong="G3385" a fountain|strong="G4077" send forth|strong="G1032" at|strong="G1537" the same|strong="G0846" place|strong="G3692" sweet|strong="G1099" water and|strong="G2532" bitter|strong="G4089"?
12 Can|strong="G1410" the fig tree|strong="G4808", my|strong="G3450" brethren|strong="G0080", bear|strong="G4160" olive berries|strong="G1636"? either|strong="G2228" a vine|strong="G0288", figs|strong="G4810"? so|strong="G3779" can no|strong="G3762" fountain|strong="G4077" both yield|strong="G4160" salt|strong="G0252" water|strong="G5204" and|strong="G2532" fresh|strong="G1099".
13 Who|strong="G5101" is a wise man|strong="G4680" and|strong="G2532" endued with knowledge|strong="G1990" among|strong="G1722" you|strong="G5213"? let him shew|strong="G1166" out of|strong="G1537" a good|strong="G2570" conversation|strong="G0391" his|strong="G0846" works|strong="G2041" with|strong="G1722" meekness|strong="G4240" of wisdom|strong="G4678".
14 But|strong="G1161" if|strong="G1487" ye have|strong="G2192" bitter|strong="G4089" envying|strong="G2205" and|strong="G2532" strife|strong="G2052" in|strong="G1722" your|strong="G5216" hearts|strong="G2588", glory|strong="G2620" not|strong="G3361", and|strong="G2532" lie|strong="G5574" not against|strong="G2596" the truth|strong="G0225".
15 This|strong="G3778" wisdom|strong="G4678" descendeth|strong="G2718" not|strong="G3756" from above|strong="G0509", but|strong="G0235" is earthly|strong="G1919", sensual|strong="G5591", devilish|strong="G1141".
16 For|strong="G1063" where|strong="G3699" envying|strong="G2205" and|strong="G2532" strife|strong="G2052" is, there|strong="G1563" is confusion|strong="G0181" and|strong="G2532" every|strong="G3956" evil|strong="G5337" work|strong="G4229".
17 But|strong="G1161" the wisdom|strong="G4678" that is|strong="G2076" from above|strong="G0509" is first|strong="G4412" pure|strong="G0053", then|strong="G1899" peaceable|strong="G1516", gentle|strong="G1933", and easy to be intreated|strong="G2138", full|strong="G3324" of mercy|strong="G1656" and|strong="G2532" good|strong="G0018" fruits|strong="G2590", without partiality|strong="G0087", and|strong="G2532" without hypocrisy|strong="G0505".
18 And|strong="G1161" the fruit|strong="G2590" of righteousness|strong="G1343" is sown|strong="G4687" in|strong="G1722" peace|strong="G1515" of them|strong="G3588" that make|strong="G4160" peace|strong="G1515".
