2 Ye lust|strong="G1937", and|strong="G2532" have|strong="G2192" not|strong="G3756": ye kill|strong="G5407", and|strong="G2532" desire to have|strong="G2206", and|strong="G2532" cannot|strong="G1410" obtain|strong="G2013": ye fight|strong="G3164" and|strong="G2532" war|strong="G4170", yet|strong="G1161" ye have|strong="G2192" not|strong="G3756", because|strong="G1223" ye|strong="G5209" ask|strong="G0154" not|strong="G3361".
3 Ye ask|strong="G0154", and|strong="G2532" receive|strong="G2983" not|strong="G3756", because|strong="G1360" ye ask|strong="G0154" amiss|strong="G2560", that|strong="G2443" ye may consume|strong="G1159" it upon|strong="G1722" your|strong="G5216" lusts|strong="G2237".
4 Ye adulterers|strong="G3432" and|strong="G2532" adulteresses|strong="G3428", know ye|strong="G1492" not|strong="G3756" that|strong="G3754" the friendship|strong="G5373" of the world|strong="G2889" is|strong="G2076" enmity|strong="G2189" with God|strong="G2316"? whosoever|strong="G3739" therefore|strong="G3767" will|strong="G1014" be|strong="G1511" a friend|strong="G5384" of the world|strong="G2889" is|strong="G2525" the enemy|strong="G2190" of God|strong="G2316".
5 Do|strong="G2228" ye think|strong="G1380" that|strong="G3754" the scripture|strong="G1124" saith|strong="G3004" in vain|strong="G2761", The spirit|strong="G4151" that|strong="G3739" dwelleth|strong="G2730" in|strong="G1722" us|strong="G2254" lusteth|strong="G1971" to|strong="G4314" envy|strong="G5355"?
6 But|strong="G1161" he giveth|strong="G1325" more|strong="G3173" grace|strong="G5485". Wherefore|strong="G1352" he saith|strong="G3004", God|strong="G2316" resisteth|strong="G0498" the proud|strong="G5244", but|strong="G1161" giveth|strong="G1325" grace|strong="G5485" unto the humble|strong="G5011".
7 Submit yourselves|strong="G5293" therefore|strong="G3767" to God|strong="G2316". Resist|strong="G0436" the devil|strong="G1228", and|strong="G2532" he will flee|strong="G5343" from|strong="G0575" you|strong="G5216".
8 Draw nigh|strong="G1448" to God|strong="G2316", and|strong="G2532" he will draw nigh|strong="G1448" to you|strong="G5213". Cleanse|strong="G2511" your hands|strong="G5495", ye sinners|strong="G0268"; and|strong="G2532" purify|strong="G0048" your hearts|strong="G2588", ye double minded|strong="G1374".
9 Be afflicted|strong="G5003", and|strong="G2532" mourn|strong="G3996", and|strong="G2532" weep|strong="G2799": let|strong="G3344" your|strong="G5216" laughter|strong="G1071" be turned|strong="G3344" to|strong="G1519" mourning|strong="G3997", and|strong="G2532" your joy|strong="G5479" to|strong="G1519" heaviness|strong="G2726".
10 Humble yourselves|strong="G5013" in the sight of|strong="G1799" the Lord|strong="G2962", and|strong="G2532" he shall lift|strong="G5312" you|strong="G5209" up|strong="G5312".

13 Go to|strong="G0071" now|strong="G3568", ye|strong="G3588" that say|strong="G3004", To day|strong="G4594" or|strong="G2532" to morrow|strong="G0839" we will go|strong="G4198" into|strong="G1519" such|strong="G3592" a city|strong="G4172", and|strong="G2532" continue|strong="G4160" there|strong="G1563" a|strong="G1520" year|strong="G1763", and|strong="G2532" buy and sell|strong="G1710", and|strong="G2532" get gain|strong="G2770":
14 Whereas|strong="G3748" ye know|strong="G1987" not|strong="G3756" what|strong="G3588" shall be on the morrow|strong="G0839". For|strong="G1063" what|strong="G4169" is your|strong="G5216" life|strong="G2222"? It is|strong="G2076" even|strong="G1063" a vapour|strong="G0822", that appeareth|strong="G5316" for|strong="G4314" a little time|strong="G3641", and|strong="G1161" then|strong="G1899" vanisheth away|strong="G0853".

17 Therefore|strong="G3767" to him that knoweth|strong="G1492" to do|strong="G4160" good|strong="G2570", and|strong="G2532" doeth|strong="G4160" it not|strong="G3361", to him|strong="G0846" it is|strong="G2076" sin|strong="G0266".
