Naum 3

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Woe|strong="H1945" to the bloody|strong="H1818" city|strong="H5892"! it is all full|strong="H4392" of lies|strong="H3585" and robbery|strong="H6563"; the prey|strong="H2964" departeth|strong="H4185" not;

The noise|strong="H6963" of a whip|strong="H7752", and the noise|strong="H6963" of the rattling|strong="H7494" of the wheels|strong="H0212", and of the pransing|strong="H1725" horses|strong="H5483", and of the jumping|strong="H7540" chariots|strong="H4818".

The horseman|strong="H6571" lifteth up|strong="H5927" both the bright|strong="H3851" sword|strong="H2719" and the glittering|strong="H1300" spear|strong="H2595": and there is a multitude|strong="H7230" of slain|strong="H2491", and a great|strong="H3514" number of carcases|strong="H6297"; and there is none end|strong="H7097" of their corpses|strong="H1472"; they stumble|strong="H3782" upon their corpses|strong="H1472":

Because of the multitude|strong="H7230" of the whoredoms|strong="H2183" of the wellfavoured|strong="H2896" harlot|strong="H2181", the mistress|strong="H1172" of witchcrafts|strong="H3785", that selleth|strong="H4376" nations|strong="H1471" through her whoredoms|strong="H2183", and families|strong="H4940" through her witchcrafts|strong="H3785".

Behold, I am against thee, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635"; and I will discover|strong="H1540" thy skirts|strong="H7757" upon thy face|strong="H6440", and I will shew|strong="H7200" the nations|strong="H1471" thy nakedness|strong="H4626", and the kingdoms|strong="H4467" thy shame|strong="H7036".

And I will cast|strong="H7993" abominable filth|strong="H8251" upon thee, and make thee vile|strong="H5034", and will set|strong="H7760" thee as a gazingstock|strong="H7210".

And it shall come to pass, that all they that look|strong="H7200" upon thee shall flee|strong="H5074" from thee, and say|strong="H0559", Nineveh|strong="H5210" is laid waste|strong="H7703": who will bemoan|strong="H5110" her? whence|strong="H0370" shall I seek|strong="H1245" comforters|strong="H5162" for thee?

Art thou better|strong="H3190" than populous|strong="H0527" No|strong="H4996", that was situate|strong="H3427" among the rivers|strong="H2975", that had the waters|strong="H4325" round about|strong="H5439" it, whose rampart|strong="H2426" was the sea|strong="H3220", and her wall|strong="H2346" was from the sea|strong="H3220"?

Ethiopia|strong="H3568" and Egypt|strong="H4714" were her strength|strong="H6109", and it was infinite|strong="H0369"; Put|strong="H6316" and Lubim|strong="H3864" were thy helpers|strong="H5833".

Yet was she carried away|strong="H1473", she went|strong="H1980" into captivity|strong="H7628": her young children|strong="H5768" also were dashed in pieces|strong="H7376" at the top|strong="H7218" of all the streets|strong="H2351": and they cast|strong="H3032" lots|strong="H1486" for her honourable men|strong="H3513", and all her great men|strong="H1419" were bound|strong="H7576" in chains|strong="H2131".

Thou also shalt be drunken|strong="H7937": thou shalt be hid|strong="H5956", thou also shalt seek|strong="H1245" strength|strong="H4581" because of the enemy|strong="H0341".

All thy strong holds|strong="H4013" shall be like fig trees|strong="H8384" with the firstripe figs|strong="H1061": if they be shaken|strong="H5128", they shall even fall|strong="H5307" into the mouth|strong="H6310" of the eater|strong="H0398".

Behold, thy people|strong="H5971" in the midst|strong="H7130" of thee are women|strong="H0802": the gates|strong="H8179" of thy land|strong="H0776" shall be set wide|strong="H6605" open|strong="H6605" unto thine enemies|strong="H0341": the fire|strong="H0784" shall devour|strong="H0398" thy bars|strong="H1280".

Draw|strong="H7579" thee waters|strong="H4325" for the siege|strong="H4692", fortify|strong="H2388" thy strong holds|strong="H4013": go|strong="H0935" into clay|strong="H2916", and tread|strong="H7429" the morter|strong="H2563", make strong|strong="H2388" the brickkiln|strong="H4404".

There shall the fire|strong="H0784" devour|strong="H0398" thee; the sword|strong="H2719" shall cut thee off|strong="H3772", it shall eat thee up|strong="H0398" like the cankerworm|strong="H3218": make thyself many|strong="H3513" as the cankerworm|strong="H3218", make thyself many|strong="H3513" as the locusts|strong="H0697".

Thou hast multiplied|strong="H7235" thy merchants|strong="H7402" above the stars|strong="H3556" of heaven|strong="H8064": the cankerworm|strong="H3218" spoileth|strong="H6584", and flieth away|strong="H5774".

Thy crowned|strong="H4502" are as the locusts|strong="H0697", and thy captains|strong="H2951" as the great grasshoppers|strong="H1462", which camp|strong="H2583" in the hedges|strong="H1448" in the cold|strong="H7135" day|strong="H3117", but when the sun|strong="H8121" ariseth|strong="H2224" they flee away|strong="H5074", and their place|strong="H4725" is not known|strong="H3045" where|strong="H0335" they are.

Thy shepherds|strong="H7462" slumber|strong="H5123", O king|strong="H4428" of Assyria|strong="H0804": thy nobles|strong="H0117" shall dwell|strong="H7931" in the dust: thy people|strong="H5971" is scattered|strong="H6335" upon the mountains|strong="H2022", and no man gathereth|strong="H6908" them.

There is no healing|strong="H3545" of thy bruise|strong="H7667"; thy wound|strong="H4347" is grievous|strong="H2470": all that hear|strong="H8085" the bruit|strong="H8088" of thee shall clap|strong="H8628" the hands|strong="H3709" over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness|strong="H7451" passed|strong="H5674" continually|strong="H8548"?
