The burden|strong="H4853" which Habakkuk|strong="H2265" the prophet|strong="H5030" did see|strong="H2372".
O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, how long shall I cry|strong="H7768", and thou wilt not hear|strong="H8085"! even cry out|strong="H2199" unto thee of violence|strong="H2555", and thou wilt not save|strong="H3467"!
Why dost thou shew|strong="H7200" me iniquity|strong="H0205", and cause me to behold|strong="H5027" grievance|strong="H5999"? for spoiling|strong="H7701" and violence|strong="H2555" are before me: and there are that raise up|strong="H5375" strife|strong="H7379" and contention|strong="H4066".
Therefore the law|strong="H8451" is slacked|strong="H6313", and judgment|strong="H4941" doth never|strong="H5331" go forth|strong="H3318": for the wicked|strong="H7563" doth compass|strong="H3803" about the righteous|strong="H6662"; therefore wrong|strong="H6127" judgment|strong="H4941" proceedeth|strong="H3318".
Behold|strong="H7200" ye among the heathen|strong="H1471", and regard|strong="H5027", and wonder|strong="H8539" marvellously|strong="H8539": for I will work|strong="H6466" a work|strong="H6467" in your days|strong="H3117", which ye will not believe|strong="H0539", though it be told|strong="H5608" you.
For, lo, I raise up|strong="H6965" the Chaldeans|strong="H3778", that bitter|strong="H4751" and hasty|strong="H4116" nation|strong="H1471", which shall march|strong="H1980" through the breadth|strong="H4800" of the land|strong="H0776", to possess|strong="H3423" the dwellingplaces|strong="H4908" that are not theirs.
They are terrible|strong="H0366" and dreadful|strong="H3372": their judgment|strong="H4941" and their dignity|strong="H7613" shall proceed|strong="H3318" of themselves.
Their horses|strong="H5483" also are swifter|strong="H7043" than the leopards|strong="H5246", and are more fierce|strong="H2300" than the evening|strong="H6153" wolves|strong="H2061": and their horsemen|strong="H6571" shall spread|strong="H6335" themselves, and their horsemen|strong="H6571" shall come|strong="H0935" from far|strong="H7350"; they shall fly|strong="H5774" as the eagle|strong="H5404" that hasteth|strong="H2363" to eat|strong="H0398".
They shall come|strong="H0935" all for violence|strong="H2555": their faces|strong="H6440" shall sup up|strong="H4041" as the east wind|strong="H6921", and they shall gather|strong="H0622" the captivity|strong="H7628" as the sand|strong="H2344".
And they shall scoff|strong="H7046" at the kings|strong="H4428", and the princes|strong="H7336" shall be a scorn|strong="H4890" unto them: they shall deride|strong="H7832" every strong hold|strong="H4013"; for they shall heap|strong="H6651" dust|strong="H6083", and take|strong="H3920" it.
Then shall his mind|strong="H7307" change|strong="H2498", and he shall pass over|strong="H5674", and offend|strong="H0816", imputing this|strong="H2098" his power|strong="H3581" unto his god|strong="H0433".
Art thou not from everlasting|strong="H6924", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* my God|strong="H0430", mine Holy One|strong="H6918"? we shall not die|strong="H4191". O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, thou hast ordained|strong="H7760" them for judgment|strong="H4941"; and, O mighty God|strong="H6697", thou hast established|strong="H3245" them for correction|strong="H3198".
Thou art of purer|strong="H2889" eyes|strong="H5869" than to behold|strong="H7200" evil|strong="H7451", and canst|strong="H3201" not look|strong="H5027" on iniquity|strong="H5999": wherefore lookest|strong="H5027" thou upon them that deal treacherously|strong="H0898", and holdest thy tongue|strong="H2790" when the wicked|strong="H7563" devoureth|strong="H1104" the man that is more righteous|strong="H6662" than he?
And makest|strong="H6213" men|strong="H0120" as the fishes|strong="H1709" of the sea|strong="H3220", as the creeping things|strong="H7431", that have no ruler|strong="H4910" over them?
They take up|strong="H5927" all of them with the angle|strong="H2443", they catch|strong="H1641" them in their net|strong="H2764", and gather|strong="H0622" them in their drag|strong="H4365": therefore they rejoice|strong="H8055" and are glad|strong="H1523".
Therefore they sacrifice|strong="H2076" unto their net|strong="H2764", and burn incense|strong="H6999" unto their drag|strong="H4365"; because by them|strong="H1992" their portion|strong="H2506" is fat|strong="H8082", and their meat|strong="H3978" plenteous|strong="H1277".
Shall they therefore empty|strong="H7324" their net|strong="H2764", and not spare|strong="H2550" continually|strong="H8548" to slay|strong="H2026" the nations|strong="H1471"?
