1 And it came to pass, when all the kings|strong="H4428" of the Amorites|strong="H0567", which were on the side|strong="H5676" of Jordan|strong="H3383" westward|strong="H3220", and all the kings|strong="H4428" of the Canaanites|strong="H3669", which were by the sea|strong="H3220", heard|strong="H8085" that the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had dried up|strong="H3001" the waters|strong="H4325" of Jordan|strong="H3383" from before|strong="H6440" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478", until we were passed over|strong="H5674", that their heart|strong="H3824" melted|strong="H4549", neither was there spirit|strong="H7307" in them any more, because|strong="H6440" of the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478".
1 Quando todos os reis amorreus a oeste do Jordão e todos os reis cananeus que viviam junto ao mar souberam como o S enhor havia secado o Jordão para que os israelitas atravessassem, perderam o ânimo e se encheram de medo por causa deles.
2 At that time|strong="H6256" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Joshua|strong="H3091", Make|strong="H6213" thee sharp|strong="H6697" knives|strong="H2719", and circumcise|strong="H4135" again|strong="H7725" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" the second time|strong="H8145".
2 Naquela ocasião, o S enhor disse a Josué: “Prepare facas de pedra e circuncide esta segunda geração de israelitas”.
3 And Joshua|strong="H3091" made|strong="H6213" him sharp|strong="H6697" knives|strong="H2719", and circumcised|strong="H4135" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" at the hill|strong="H1389" of the foreskins|strong="H6190".
3 Então Josué preparou facas de pedra e circuncidou toda a população masculina de Israel em Gibeate-Aralote.
4 And this is the cause|strong="H1697" why Joshua|strong="H3091" did circumcise|strong="H4135": All the people|strong="H5971" that came out|strong="H3318" of Egypt|strong="H4714", that were males|strong="H2145", even all the men|strong="H0582" of war|strong="H4421", died|strong="H4191" in the wilderness|strong="H4057" by the way|strong="H1870", after they came out|strong="H3318" of Egypt|strong="H4714".
4 Josué teve de circuncidá-los porque todos os homens com idade suficiente para ir à guerra quando saíram do Egito haviam morrido no deserto.
5 Now|strong="H3588" all the people|strong="H5971" that came out|strong="H3318" were circumcised|strong="H4135": but all the people|strong="H5971" that were born|strong="H3209" in the wilderness|strong="H4057" by the way|strong="H1870" as they came forth|strong="H3318" out of Egypt|strong="H4714", them they had not circumcised|strong="H4135".
5 Todos os que saíram haviam sido circuncidados, mas isso não aconteceu com os homens que nasceram depois da saída do Egito, durante o tempo no deserto.
6 For the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" walked|strong="H1980" forty|strong="H0705" years|strong="H8141" in the wilderness|strong="H4057", till all the people|strong="H1471" that were men|strong="H0582" of war|strong="H4421", which came out|strong="H3318" of Egypt|strong="H4714", were consumed|strong="H8552", because they obeyed|strong="H8085" not the voice|strong="H6963" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: unto whom the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* sware|strong="H7650" that he would not shew|strong="H7200" them the land|strong="H0776", which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* sware|strong="H7650" unto their fathers|strong="H0001" that he would give|strong="H5414" us, a land|strong="H0776" that floweth|strong="H2100" with milk|strong="H2461" and honey|strong="H1706".
6 Os israelitas andaram quarenta anos pelo deserto, até que tivessem morrido todos os homens com idade suficiente para ir à guerra quando saíram do Egito. O povo havia desobedecido ao S enhor , e o S enhor jurou que não os deixaria entrar na terra que ele tinha prometido solenemente nos dar, uma terra que produz leite e mel com fartura.
7 And their children|strong="H1121", whom he raised up|strong="H6965" in their stead, them Joshua|strong="H3091" circumcised|strong="H4135": for they were uncircumcised|strong="H6189", because they had not circumcised|strong="H4135" them by the way|strong="H1870".
7 Assim, Josué circuncidou os filhos dos israelitas que haviam crescido e tomado o lugar de seus pais, pois não tinham sido circuncidados no caminho.
8 And it came to pass, when they had done|strong="H8552" circumcising|strong="H4135" all the people|strong="H1471", that they abode|strong="H3427" in their places in the camp|strong="H4264", till they were whole|strong="H2421".
8 Depois que toda a população masculina foi circuncidada, o povo permaneceu no acampamento até os homens se recuperarem.
9 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Joshua|strong="H3091", This day|strong="H3117" have I rolled away|strong="H1556" the reproach|strong="H2781" of Egypt|strong="H4714" from off you. Wherefore the name|strong="H8034" of the place|strong="H4725" is called|strong="H7121" Gilgal|strong="H1537" unto this day|strong="H3117".
9 Então o S enhor disse a Josué: “Hoje lancei fora a vergonha de sua escravidão no Egito”. Por isso, até hoje aquele lugar se chama Gilgal.
10 And the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" encamped|strong="H2583" in Gilgal|strong="H1537", and kept|strong="H6213" the passover|strong="H6453" on the fourteenth|strong="H0702" day|strong="H3117" of the month|strong="H2320" at even|strong="H6153" in the plains|strong="H6160" of Jericho|strong="H3405".
10 Enquanto estavam acampados em Gilgal, na planície de Jericó, os israelitas celebraram a Páscoa ao entardecer do décimo quarto dia do primeiro mês.
11 And they did eat|strong="H0398" of the old corn|strong="H5669" of the land|strong="H0776" on the morrow|strong="H4283" after the passover|strong="H6453", unleavened cakes|strong="H4682", and parched|strong="H7033" corn in the selfsame|strong="H6106" day|strong="H3117".
11 No dia seguinte, começaram a comer pão sem fermento e grãos tostados produzidos na terra.
12 And the manna|strong="H4478" ceased|strong="H7673" on the morrow|strong="H4283" after they had eaten|strong="H0398" of the old corn|strong="H5669" of the land|strong="H0776"; neither had the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478" manna|strong="H4478" any more; but they did eat|strong="H0398" of the fruit|strong="H8393" of the land|strong="H0776" of Canaan|strong="H3667" that year|strong="H8141".
12 No dia em que começaram a comer das colheitas da terra, o maná deixou de cair e nunca mais apareceu. Daquele momento em diante, os israelitas passaram a se alimentar do que a terra de Canaã produzia.
13 And it came to pass, when Joshua|strong="H3091" was by Jericho|strong="H3405", that he lifted up|strong="H5375" his eyes|strong="H5869" and looked|strong="H7200", and, behold, there stood|strong="H5975" a man|strong="H0376" over against him with his sword|strong="H2719" drawn|strong="H8025" in his hand|strong="H3027": and Joshua|strong="H3091" went|strong="H3212" unto him, and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries|strong="H6862"?
13 Quando Josué estava perto da cidade de Jericó, olhou para cima e viu um homem em pé diante dele, com uma espada na mão. Josué se aproximou e lhe perguntou: “Você é amigo ou inimigo?”.
14 And he said|strong="H0559", Nay; but as captain|strong="H8269" of the host|strong="H6635" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* am I now come|strong="H0935". And Joshua|strong="H3091" fell|strong="H5307" on his face|strong="H6440" to the earth|strong="H0776", and did worship|strong="H7812", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, What saith|strong="H1696" my lord|strong="H0113" unto his servant|strong="H5650"?
14 O homem respondeu: “Na verdade, cheguei agora e sou comandante do exército do S enhor ”. Então Josué se prostrou com o rosto no chão em sinal de reverência e disse: “Que ordens meu senhor tem para mim?”.
15 And the captain|strong="H8269" of the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* host|strong="H6635" said|strong="H0559" unto Joshua|strong="H3091", Loose|strong="H5394" thy shoe|strong="H5275" from off thy foot|strong="H7272"; for the place|strong="H4725" whereon thou standest|strong="H5975" is holy|strong="H6944". And Joshua|strong="H3091" did|strong="H6213" so.
15 O comandante do exército do S enhor respondeu: “Tire as sandálias, pois o lugar em que você está é santo”. E Josué obedeceu.
