Jeremias 39

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

In the ninth|strong="H8671" year|strong="H8141" of Zedekiah|strong="H6667" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", in the tenth|strong="H6224" month|strong="H2320", came|strong="H0935" Nebuchadrezzar|strong="H5019" king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" and all his army|strong="H2428" against Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and they besieged|strong="H6696" it.

And in the eleventh|strong="H6249" year|strong="H8141" of Zedekiah|strong="H6667", in the fourth|strong="H7243" month|strong="H2320", the ninth|strong="H8672" day of the month|strong="H2320", the city|strong="H5892" was broken up|strong="H1234".

And all the princes|strong="H8269" of the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" came in|strong="H0935", and sat|strong="H3427" in the middle|strong="H8432" gate|strong="H8179", even Nergal-sharezer|strong="H5371", Samgar-nebo|strong="H5562", Sarsechim|strong="H8310", Rab-saris|strong="H7249", Nergal-sharezer|strong="H5371", Rab-mag|strong="H7248", with all the residue|strong="H7611" of the princes|strong="H8269" of the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894".

And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah|strong="H6667" the king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" saw|strong="H7200" them, and all the men|strong="H0582" of war|strong="H4421", then they fled|strong="H1272", and went forth|strong="H3318" out of the city|strong="H5892" by night|strong="H3915", by the way|strong="H1870" of the king’s|strong="H4428" garden|strong="H1588", by the gate|strong="H8179" betwixt the two walls|strong="H2346": and he went out|strong="H3318" the way|strong="H1870" of the plain|strong="H6160".

But the Chaldeans’|strong="H3778" army|strong="H2428" pursued|strong="H7291" after|strong="H0310" them, and overtook|strong="H5381" Zedekiah|strong="H6667" in the plains|strong="H6160" of Jericho|strong="H3405": and when they had taken|strong="H3947" him, they brought him up|strong="H5927" to Nebuchadnezzar|strong="H5019" king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" to Riblah|strong="H7247" in the land|strong="H0776" of Hamath|strong="H2574", where he gave|strong="H1696" judgment|strong="H4941" upon him.

Then the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" slew|strong="H7819" the sons|strong="H1121" of Zedekiah|strong="H6667" in Riblah|strong="H7247" before his eyes|strong="H5869": also the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" slew|strong="H7819" all the nobles|strong="H2715" of Judah|strong="H3063".

Moreover he put out|strong="H5786" Zedekiah’s|strong="H6667" eyes|strong="H5869", and bound|strong="H0631" him with chains|strong="H5178", to carry|strong="H0935" him to Babylon|strong="H0894".

And the Chaldeans|strong="H3778" burned|strong="H8313" the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004", and the houses|strong="H1004" of the people|strong="H5971", with fire|strong="H0784", and brake down|strong="H5422" the walls|strong="H2346" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389".

Then Nebuzar-adan|strong="H5018" the captain|strong="H7227" of the guard|strong="H2876" carried away captive|strong="H1540" into Babylon|strong="H0894" the remnant|strong="H3499" of the people|strong="H5971" that remained|strong="H7604" in the city|strong="H5892", and those that fell away|strong="H5307", that fell|strong="H5307" to him, with the rest|strong="H3499" of the people|strong="H5971" that remained|strong="H7604".

But Nebuzar-adan|strong="H5018" the captain|strong="H7227" of the guard|strong="H2876" left|strong="H7604" of the poor|strong="H1800" of the people|strong="H5971", which had nothing|strong="H3972", in the land|strong="H0776" of Judah|strong="H3063", and gave|strong="H5414" them vineyards|strong="H3754" and fields|strong="H3010" at the same time|strong="H3117".

Now Nebuchadrezzar|strong="H5019" king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894" gave charge|strong="H6680" concerning Jeremiah|strong="H3414" to|strong="H3027" Nebuzar-adan|strong="H5018" the captain|strong="H7227" of the guard|strong="H2876", saying|strong="H0559",

Take|strong="H3947" him, and look well|strong="H5869" to him, and do|strong="H6213" him no harm|strong="H3972"; but do|strong="H6213" unto him even as he shall say|strong="H1696" unto thee.

So Nebuzar-adan|strong="H5018" the captain|strong="H7227" of the guard|strong="H2876" sent|strong="H7971", and Nebushasban|strong="H5021", Rab-saris|strong="H7249", and Nergal-sharezer|strong="H5371", Rab-mag|strong="H7248", and all the king|strong="H4428" of Babylon’s|strong="H0894" princes|strong="H7227";

Even they sent|strong="H7971", and took|strong="H3947" Jeremiah|strong="H3414" out of the court|strong="H2691" of the prison|strong="H4307", and committed|strong="H5414" him unto Gedaliah|strong="H1436" the son|strong="H1121" of Ahikam|strong="H0296" the son|strong="H1121" of Shaphan|strong="H8227", that he should carry|strong="H3318" him home|strong="H1004": so he dwelt|strong="H3427" among|strong="H8432" the people|strong="H5971".

Now the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came unto Jeremiah|strong="H3414", while he was shut up|strong="H6113" in the court|strong="H2691" of the prison|strong="H4307", saying|strong="H0559",

Go|strong="H1980" and speak|strong="H0559" to Ebed-melech|strong="H5663" the Ethiopian|strong="H3569", saying|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* of hosts|strong="H6635", the God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478"; Behold, I will bring|strong="H0935" my words|strong="H1697" upon this city|strong="H5892" for evil|strong="H7451", and not for good|strong="H2896"; and they shall be accomplished in that day|strong="H3117" before|strong="H6440" thee.

But I will deliver|strong="H5337" thee in that day|strong="H3117", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and thou shalt not be given|strong="H5414" into the hand|strong="H3027" of the men|strong="H0582" of whom|strong="H6440" thou art afraid|strong="H3016".

For I will surely|strong="H4422" deliver|strong="H4422" thee, and thou shalt not fall|strong="H5307" by the sword|strong="H2719", but thy life|strong="H5315" shall be for a prey|strong="H7998" unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust|strong="H0982" in me, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
