Jeremias 22

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Go down|strong="H3381" to the house|strong="H1004" of the king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", and speak|strong="H1696" there this word|strong="H1697",

And say|strong="H0559", Hear|strong="H8085" the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, O king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", that sittest|strong="H3427" upon the throne|strong="H3678" of David|strong="H1732", thou, and thy servants|strong="H5650", and thy people|strong="H5971" that enter|strong="H0935" in by these gates|strong="H8179":

Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Execute|strong="H6213" ye judgment|strong="H4941" and righteousness|strong="H6666", and deliver|strong="H5337" the spoiled|strong="H1497" out of the hand|strong="H3027" of the oppressor|strong="H6216": and do no wrong|strong="H3238", do no violence|strong="H2554" to the stranger|strong="H1616", the fatherless|strong="H3490", nor the widow|strong="H0490", neither shed|strong="H8210" innocent|strong="H5355" blood|strong="H1818" in this place|strong="H4725".

For if ye do|strong="H6213" this thing|strong="H1697" indeed|strong="H6213", then shall there enter in|strong="H0935" by the gates|strong="H8179" of this house|strong="H1004" kings|strong="H4428" sitting|strong="H3427" upon the throne|strong="H3678" of David|strong="H1732", riding|strong="H7392" in chariots|strong="H7393" and on horses|strong="H5483", he, and his servants|strong="H5650", and his people|strong="H5971".

But if ye will not hear|strong="H8085" these words|strong="H1697", I swear|strong="H7650" by myself, saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that this house|strong="H1004" shall become a desolation|strong="H2723".

For thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* unto the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004" of Judah|strong="H3063"; Thou art Gilead|strong="H1568" unto me, and the head|strong="H7218" of Lebanon|strong="H3844": yet surely I will make|strong="H7896" thee a wilderness|strong="H4057", and cities|strong="H5892" which are not inhabited|strong="H3427".

And I will prepare|strong="H6942" destroyers|strong="H7843" against thee, every one|strong="H0376" with his weapons|strong="H3627": and they shall cut down|strong="H3772" thy choice|strong="H4005" cedars|strong="H0730", and cast|strong="H5307" them into the fire|strong="H0784".

And many|strong="H7227" nations|strong="H1471" shall pass|strong="H5674" by this city|strong="H5892", and they shall say|strong="H0559" every man|strong="H0376" to his neighbour|strong="H7453", Wherefore hath the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* done|strong="H6213" thus unto this great|strong="H1419" city|strong="H5892"?

Then they shall answer|strong="H0559", Because they have forsaken|strong="H5800" the covenant|strong="H1285" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* their God|strong="H0430", and worshipped|strong="H7812" other|strong="H0312" gods|strong="H0430", and served|strong="H5647" them.

Weep|strong="H1058" ye not for the dead|strong="H4191", neither bemoan|strong="H5110" him: but weep|strong="H1058" sore|strong="H1058" for him that goeth away|strong="H1980": for he shall return|strong="H7725" no more, nor see|strong="H7200" his native|strong="H4138" country|strong="H0776".

For thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* touching|strong="H0413" Shallum|strong="H7967" the son|strong="H1121" of Josiah|strong="H2977" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", which reigned|strong="H4427" instead of Josiah|strong="H2977" his father|strong="H0001", which went forth|strong="H3318" out of this place|strong="H4725"; He shall not return|strong="H7725" thither any more:

But he shall die|strong="H4191" in the place|strong="H4725" whither they have led him captive|strong="H1540", and shall see|strong="H7200" this land|strong="H0776" no more.

Woe|strong="H1945" unto him that buildeth|strong="H1129" his house|strong="H1004" by|strong="H3808" unrighteousness|strong="H6664", and his chambers|strong="H5944" by wrong|strong="H4941"; that useth his neighbour’s|strong="H7453" service|strong="H5647" without wages|strong="H2600", and giveth|strong="H5414" him not for his work|strong="H6467";

That saith|strong="H0559", I will build|strong="H1129" me a wide|strong="H4060" house|strong="H1004" and large|strong="H7304" chambers|strong="H5944", and cutteth him out|strong="H7167" windows|strong="H2474"; and it is cieled|strong="H5603" with cedar|strong="H0730", and painted|strong="H4886" with vermilion|strong="H8350".

Shalt thou reign|strong="H4427", because thou closest|strong="H8474" thyself in cedar|strong="H0730"? did not thy father|strong="H0001" eat|strong="H0398" and drink|strong="H8354", and do|strong="H6213" judgment|strong="H4941" and justice|strong="H6666", and then it was well|strong="H2896" with him?

He judged|strong="H1777" the cause|strong="H1779" of the poor|strong="H6041" and needy|strong="H0034"; then it was well|strong="H2896" with him: was not this to know|strong="H1847" me? saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

But thine eyes|strong="H5869" and thine heart|strong="H3820" are not but for thy covetousness|strong="H1215", and for to shed|strong="H8210" innocent|strong="H5355" blood|strong="H1818", and for oppression|strong="H6233", and for violence|strong="H4835", to do|strong="H6213" it.

Therefore thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* concerning Jehoiakim|strong="H3079" the son|strong="H1121" of Josiah|strong="H2977" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063"; They shall not lament|strong="H5594" for him, saying, Ah|strong="H1945" my brother|strong="H0251"! or, Ah|strong="H1945" sister|strong="H0269"! they shall not lament|strong="H5594" for him, saying, Ah|strong="H1945" lord|strong="H0113"! or, Ah|strong="H1945" his glory|strong="H1935"!

He shall be buried|strong="H6912" with the burial|strong="H6900" of an ass|strong="H2543", drawn|strong="H5498" and cast forth|strong="H7993" beyond|strong="H1973" the gates|strong="H8179" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389".

Go up|strong="H5927" to Lebanon|strong="H3844", and cry|strong="H6817"; and lift up|strong="H5414" thy voice|strong="H6963" in Bashan|strong="H1316", and cry|strong="H6817" from the passages|strong="H5676": for all thy lovers|strong="H0157" are destroyed|strong="H7665".

I spake|strong="H1696" unto thee in thy prosperity|strong="H7962"; but thou saidst|strong="H0559", I will not hear|strong="H8085". This hath been thy manner|strong="H1870" from thy youth|strong="H5271", that thou obeyedst|strong="H8085" not my voice|strong="H6963".

The wind|strong="H7307" shall eat up|strong="H7462" all thy pastors|strong="H7462", and thy lovers|strong="H0157" shall go|strong="H3212" into captivity|strong="H7628": surely then shalt thou be ashamed|strong="H0954" and confounded|strong="H3637" for all thy wickedness|strong="H7451".

O inhabitant|strong="H3427" of Lebanon|strong="H3844", that makest thy nest|strong="H7077" in the cedars|strong="H0730", how gracious|strong="H2603" shalt thou be when pangs|strong="H2256" come|strong="H0935" upon thee, the pain|strong="H2427" as of a woman in travail|strong="H3205"!

As I live|strong="H2416", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, though Coniah|strong="H3659" the son|strong="H1121" of Jehoiakim|strong="H3079" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" were the signet|strong="H2368" upon my right|strong="H3225" hand|strong="H3027", yet would I pluck|strong="H5423" thee thence;

And I will give|strong="H5414" thee into the hand|strong="H3027" of them that seek|strong="H1245" thy life|strong="H5315", and into the hand|strong="H3027" of them whose face|strong="H6440" thou fearest|strong="H3016", even into the hand|strong="H3027" of Nebuchadrezzar|strong="H5019" king|strong="H4428" of Babylon|strong="H0894", and into the hand|strong="H3027" of the Chaldeans|strong="H3778".

And I will cast thee out|strong="H2904", and thy mother|strong="H0517" that bare|strong="H3205" thee, into another|strong="H0312" country|strong="H0776", where ye were not born|strong="H3205"; and there shall ye die|strong="H4191".

But to the land|strong="H0776" whereunto they desire|strong="H5375" to return|strong="H7725", thither shall they not return|strong="H7725".

Is this man|strong="H0376" Coniah|strong="H3659" a despised|strong="H0959" broken|strong="H5310" idol|strong="H6089"? is he a vessel|strong="H3627" wherein is no pleasure|strong="H2656"? wherefore are they cast out|strong="H7993", he and his seed|strong="H2233", and are cast|strong="H2904" into a land|strong="H0776" which they know|strong="H3045" not?

O earth|strong="H0776", earth|strong="H0776", earth|strong="H0776", hear|strong="H8085" the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, Write|strong="H3789" ye this man|strong="H0376" childless|strong="H6185", a man|strong="H1397" that shall not prosper|strong="H6743" in his days|strong="H3117": for no man|strong="H0376" of his seed|strong="H2233" shall prosper|strong="H6743", sitting|strong="H3427" upon the throne|strong="H3678" of David|strong="H1732", and ruling|strong="H4910" any more in Judah|strong="H3063".
