1 Ora, estava enfermo um homem chamado Lázaro, de Betânia, aldeia de Maria e de sua irmã Marta.

2 E Maria, cujo irmão Lázaro se achava enfermo, era a mesma que ungiu o Senhor com bálsamo, e lhe enxugou os pés com os seus cabelos.

3 Mandaram, pois, as irmãs dizer a Jesus: Senhor, eis que está enfermo aquele que tu amas.

4 Jesus, porém, ao ouvir isto, disse: Esta enfermidade não é para a morte, mas para glória de Deus, para que o Filho de Deus seja glorificado por ela.
5 Now|strong="G1161" Jesus|strong="G2424" loved|strong="G0025" Martha|strong="G3136", and|strong="G2532" her|strong="G0846" sister|strong="G0079", and|strong="G2532" Lazarus|strong="G2976".
5 Ora, Jesus amava a Marta, e a sua irmã, e a Lázaro.
6 When|strong="G5613" he had heard|strong="G0191" therefore|strong="G3767" that|strong="G3754" he was sick|strong="G0770", he abode|strong="G3306" two|strong="G1417" days|strong="G2250" still|strong="G3306" in|strong="G1722" the same|strong="G3739" place where|strong="G5117" he was|strong="G2258".
6 Quando, pois, ouviu que estava enfermo, ficou ainda dois dias no lugar onde se achava.

7 Depois disto, disse a seus discípulos: Vamos outra vez para Judéia.

8 Disseram-lhe eles: Rabi, ainda agora os judeus procuravam apedrejar-te, e voltas para lá?
9 Jesus|strong="G2424" answered|strong="G0611", \+w Are there|strong="G1526"\+w* \+w not|strong="G3780"\+w* \+w twelve|strong="G1427"\+w* \+w hours|strong="G5610"\+w* \+w in the day|strong="G2250"\+w*? \+w If|strong="G1437"\+w* \+w any man|strong="G5100"\+w* \+w walk|strong="G4043"\+w* \+w in|strong="G1722"\+w* \+w the day|strong="G2250"\+w*, \+w he stumbleth|strong="G4350"\+w* \+w not|strong="G3756"\+w*, \+w because|strong="G3754"\+w* \+w he seeth|strong="G0991"\+w* \+w the light|strong="G5457"\+w* \+w of|strong="G2889"\+w* \+w this|strong="G5127"\+w* \+w world|strong="G2889"\+w*.
9 Respondeu Jesus: Não são doze as horas do dia? Se alguém andar de dia, não tropeça, porque vê a luz deste mundo;

10 mas se andar de noite, tropeça, porque nele não há luz.
11 These things|strong="G5023" said he|strong="G2036": and|strong="G2532" after|strong="G3326" that|strong="G5124" he saith|strong="G3004" unto them|strong="G0846", \+w Our|strong="G2257"\+w* \+w friend|strong="G5384"\+w* \+w Lazarus|strong="G2976"\+w* \+w sleepeth|strong="G2837"\+w*; \+w but|strong="G0235"\+w* \+w I go|strong="G4198"\+w*, \+w that|strong="G2443"\+w* \+w I may awake|strong="G1852"\+w* \+w him|strong="G0846"\+w* \+w out of sleep|strong="G1852"\+w*.
11 E, tendo assim falado, acrescentou: Lázaro, o nosso amigo, dorme, mas vou despertá-lo do sono.
12 Then|strong="G3767" said|strong="G2036" his|strong="G0846" disciples|strong="G3101", Lord|strong="G2962", if|strong="G1487" he sleep|strong="G2837", he shall do well|strong="G4982".
12 Disseram-lhe, pois, os discípulos: Senhor, se dorme, ficará bom.
13 Howbeit|strong="G1161" Jesus|strong="G2424" spake|strong="G2046" of|strong="G4012" his|strong="G0846" death|strong="G2288": but|strong="G1161" they|strong="G1565" thought|strong="G1380" that|strong="G3754" he had spoken|strong="G3004" of|strong="G4012" taking of rest|strong="G2838" in sleep|strong="G5258".
13 Mas Jesus falara da sua morte; eles, porém, entenderam que falava do repouso do sono.
14 Then|strong="G5119" said|strong="G2036" Jesus|strong="G2424" unto them|strong="G0846" plainly|strong="G3954", \+w Lazarus|strong="G2976"\+w* \+w is dead|strong="G0599"\+w*.
14 Então Jesus lhes disse claramente: Lázaro morreu;
15 \+w And|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w I am glad|strong="G5463"\+w* \+w for|strong="G1223"\+w* \+w your sakes|strong="G5209"\+w* \+w that|strong="G2443"\+w* \+w I was|strong="G2252"\+w* \+w not|strong="G3756"\+w* \+w there|strong="G1563"\+w*, \+w to the intent|strong="G3754"\+w* \+w ye may believe|strong="G4100"\+w*; \+w nevertheless|strong="G0235"\+w* \+w let us go|strong="G0071"\+w* \+w unto|strong="G4314"\+w* \+w him|strong="G0846"\+w*.
15 e, por vossa causa, folgo de que eu lá não estivesse, para que creiais; mas vamos ter com ele.
16 Then|strong="G3767" said|strong="G2036" Thomas|strong="G2381", which is called|strong="G3004" Didymus|strong="G1324", unto his fellowdisciples|strong="G4827", Let|strong="G0071" us|strong="G2249" also|strong="G2532" go|strong="G0071", that|strong="G2443" we may die|strong="G0599" with|strong="G3326" him|strong="G0846".
16 Disse, pois, Tomé, chamado Dídimo, aos seus condiscípulos: Vamos nós também, para morrermos com ele.
17 Then when|strong="G3767" Jesus|strong="G2424" came|strong="G2064", he|strong="G0846" found that|strong="G2147" he had|strong="G2192" lain in|strong="G1722" the grave|strong="G3419" four|strong="G5064" days|strong="G2250" already|strong="G2235".
17 Chegando pois Jesus, encontrou-o já com quatro dias de sepultura.
18 Now|strong="G1161" Bethany|strong="G0963" was|strong="G2258" nigh unto|strong="G1451" Jerusalem|strong="G2414", about|strong="G5613" fifteen|strong="G1178" furlongs|strong="G4712" off|strong="G0575":
18 Ora, Betânia distava de Jerusalém cerca de quinze estádios.
19 And|strong="G2532" many|strong="G4183" of|strong="G1537" the Jews|strong="G2453" came|strong="G2064" to|strong="G4012" Martha|strong="G3136" and|strong="G2532" Mary|strong="G3137", to|strong="G2443" comfort|strong="G3888" them|strong="G0846" concerning|strong="G4012" their|strong="G0846" brother|strong="G0080".
19 E muitos dos judeus tinham vindo visitar Marta e Maria, para as consolar acerca de seu irmão.
20 Then|strong="G3767" Martha|strong="G3136", as soon as|strong="G5613" she heard|strong="G0191" that|strong="G3754" Jesus|strong="G2424" was coming|strong="G2064", went and met|strong="G5221" him|strong="G0846": but|strong="G1161" Mary|strong="G3137" sat|strong="G2516" still in|strong="G1722" the house|strong="G3624".
20 Marta, pois, ao saber que Jesus chegava, saiu-lhe ao encontro; Maria, porém, ficou sentada em casa.
21 Then|strong="G3767" said|strong="G2036" Martha|strong="G3136" unto|strong="G4314" Jesus|strong="G2424", Lord|strong="G2962", if|strong="G1487" thou hadst been|strong="G2258" here|strong="G5602", my|strong="G3450" brother|strong="G0080" had|strong="G2348" not|strong="G3756" died|strong="G2348".
21 Disse, pois, Marta a Jesus: Senhor, se meu irmão não teria morrido.
22 But|strong="G0235" I know|strong="G1492", that|strong="G3754" even now|strong="G3568", whatsoever|strong="G3745" thou wilt ask|strong="G0154" of God|strong="G2316", God|strong="G2316" will give|strong="G1325" it thee|strong="G4671".
22 E mesmo agora sei que tudo quanto pedires a Deus, Deus to concederá.
23 Jesus|strong="G2424" saith|strong="G3004" unto her|strong="G0846", \+w Thy|strong="G4675"\+w* \+w brother|strong="G0080"\+w* \+w shall rise again|strong="G0450"\+w*.
23 Respondeu-lhe Jesus: Teu irmão há de ressurgir.
24 Martha|strong="G3136" saith|strong="G3004" unto him|strong="G0846", I know|strong="G1492" that|strong="G3754" he shall rise again|strong="G0450" in|strong="G1722" the resurrection|strong="G0386" at|strong="G1722" the last|strong="G2078" day|strong="G2250".
24 Disse-lhe Marta: Sei que ele há de ressurgir na ressurreição, no último dia.
25 Jesus|strong="G2424" said|strong="G2036" unto her|strong="G0846", \+w I|strong="G1473"\+w* \+w am|strong="G1510"\+w* \+w the resurrection|strong="G0386"\+w*, \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w the life|strong="G2222"\+w*: \+w he that believeth|strong="G4100"\+w* \+w in|strong="G1519"\+w* \+w me|strong="G1691"\+w*, \+w though|strong="G2579"\+w* \+w he were dead|strong="G0599"\+w*, \+w yet|strong="G2579"\+w* \+w shall he live|strong="G2198"\+w*:
25 Declarou-lhe Jesus: Eu sou a ressurreição e a vida; quem crê em mim, ainda que morra, viverá;
26 \+w And|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w whosoever|strong="G3956"\+w* \+w liveth|strong="G2198"\+w* \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w believeth|strong="G4100"\+w* \+w in|strong="G1519"\+w* \+w me|strong="G1691"\+w* \+w shall|strong="G0599"\+w* \+w never|strong="G3756"\+w* \+w die|strong="G0599"\+w*. \+w Believest thou|strong="G4100"\+w* \+w this|strong="G5124"\+w*?
26 e todo aquele que vive, e crê em mim, jamais morrerá. Crês isto?
27 She saith|strong="G3004" unto him|strong="G0846", Yea|strong="G3483", Lord|strong="G2962": I|strong="G1473" believe|strong="G4100" that|strong="G3754" thou|strong="G4771" art|strong="G1488" the Christ|strong="G5547", the Son|strong="G5207" of God|strong="G2316", which should come|strong="G2064" into|strong="G1519" the world|strong="G2889".
27 Respondeu-lhe Marta: Sim, Senhor, eu creio que tu és o Cristo, o Filho de Deus, que havia de vir ao mundo.
28 And|strong="G2532" when she had|strong="G2036" so|strong="G5023" said|strong="G2036", she went her way|strong="G0565", and|strong="G2532" called|strong="G5455" Mary|strong="G3137" her|strong="G0846" sister|strong="G0079" secretly|strong="G2977", saying|strong="G2036", The Master|strong="G1320" is come|strong="G3918", and|strong="G2532" calleth|strong="G5455" for thee|strong="G4571".
28 Dito isto, retirou-se e foi chamar em segredo a Maria, sua irmã, e lhe disse: O Mestre está aí, e te chama.
29 As soon as|strong="G5613" she|strong="G1565" heard|strong="G0191" that, she arose|strong="G1453" quickly|strong="G5035", and|strong="G2532" came|strong="G2064" unto|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846".
29 Ela, ouvindo isto, levantou-se depressa, e foi ter com ele.
30 Now|strong="G1161" Jesus|strong="G2424" was|strong="G2064" not yet|strong="G3768" come|strong="G2064" into|strong="G1519" the town|strong="G2968", but|strong="G0235" was|strong="G2258" in|strong="G1722" that place|strong="G5117" where|strong="G3699" Martha|strong="G3136" met|strong="G5221" him|strong="G0846".
30 Pois Jesus ainda não havia entrado na aldeia, mas estava no lugar onde Marta o encontrara.
31 The Jews|strong="G2453" then|strong="G3767" which were|strong="G5607" with|strong="G3326" her|strong="G0846" in|strong="G1722" the house|strong="G3614", and|strong="G2532" comforted|strong="G3888" her|strong="G0846", when they saw|strong="G1492" Mary|strong="G3137", that|strong="G3754" she rose up|strong="G0450" hastily|strong="G5030" and|strong="G2532" went out|strong="G1831", followed|strong="G0190" her|strong="G0846", saying|strong="G3004", She goeth|strong="G5217" unto|strong="G1519" the grave|strong="G3419" to|strong="G2443" weep|strong="G2799" there|strong="G1563".
31 Então os judeus que estavam com Maria em casa e a consolavam, vendo-a levantar-se apressadamente e sair, seguiram-na, pensando que ia ao sepulcro para chorar ali.
32 Then|strong="G3767" when|strong="G5613" Mary|strong="G3137" was come|strong="G2064" where|strong="G3699" Jesus|strong="G2424" was|strong="G2258", and saw|strong="G1492" him|strong="G0846", she fell down|strong="G4098" at|strong="G1519" his|strong="G0846" feet|strong="G4228", saying|strong="G3004" unto him|strong="G0846", Lord|strong="G2962", if|strong="G1487" thou hadst been|strong="G2258" here|strong="G5602", my|strong="G3450" brother|strong="G0080" had|strong="G0599" not|strong="G3756" died|strong="G0599".
32 Tendo, pois, Maria chegado ao lugar onde Jesus estava, e vendo-a, lançou-se-lhe aos pés e disse: Senhor, se tu estiveras aqui, meu irmão não teria morrido.
33 When|strong="G5613" Jesus|strong="G2424" therefore|strong="G3767" saw|strong="G1492" her|strong="G0846" weeping|strong="G2799", and|strong="G2532" the Jews|strong="G2453" also|strong="G4905" weeping|strong="G2799" which came|strong="G4905" with her|strong="G0846", he|strong="G1438" groaned|strong="G1690" in the spirit|strong="G4151", and|strong="G2532" was troubled|strong="G5015",
33 Jesus, pois, quando a viu chorar, e chorarem também os judeus que com ela vinham, comoveu-se em espírito, e perturbou-se,
34 And|strong="G2532" said|strong="G2036", \+w Where|strong="G4226"\+w* \+w have ye laid|strong="G5087"\+w* \+w him|strong="G0846"\+w*? They said|strong="G3004" unto him|strong="G0846", Lord|strong="G2962", come|strong="G2064" and|strong="G2532" see|strong="G1492".
34 e perguntou: Onde o puseste? Responderam-lhe: Senhor, vem e vê.
35 Jesus|strong="G2424" wept|strong="G1145".
35 Jesus chorou.
36 Then|strong="G3767" said|strong="G3004" the Jews|strong="G2453", Behold|strong="G1492" how|strong="G4459" he loved|strong="G5368" him|strong="G0846"!
36 Disseram então os judeus: Vede como o amava.
37 And|strong="G1161" some|strong="G5100" of|strong="G1537" them|strong="G0846" said|strong="G2036", Could|strong="G1410" not|strong="G3756" this man|strong="G3778", which opened|strong="G0455" the eyes|strong="G3788" of the blind|strong="G5185", have caused|strong="G4160" that|strong="G2443" even|strong="G2532" this man|strong="G3778" should|strong="G0599" not|strong="G3361" have died|strong="G0599"?
37 Mas alguns deles disseram: Não podia ele, que abriu os olhos ao cego, fazer também que este não morreste?
38 Jesus|strong="G2424" therefore|strong="G3767" again|strong="G3825" groaning|strong="G1690" in|strong="G1722" himself|strong="G1438" cometh|strong="G2064" to|strong="G1519" the grave|strong="G3419". It was|strong="G2258" a cave|strong="G4693", and|strong="G2532" a stone|strong="G3037" lay|strong="G1945" upon|strong="G1909" it|strong="G0846".
38 Jesus, pois, comovendo-se outra vez, profundamente, foi ao sepulcro; era uma gruta, e tinha uma pedra posta sobre ela.
39 Jesus|strong="G2424" said|strong="G3004", \+w Take ye away|strong="G0142"\+w* \+w the stone|strong="G3037"\+w*. Martha|strong="G3136", the sister|strong="G0079" of him that was dead|strong="G2348", saith|strong="G3004" unto him|strong="G0846", Lord|strong="G2962", by this time|strong="G2235" he stinketh|strong="G3605": for|strong="G1063" he hath been|strong="G2076" dead four days|strong="G5066".
39 Disse Jesus: Tirai a pedra. Marta, irmã do defunto, disse-lhe: Senhor, já cheira mal, porque está morto há quase quatro dias.
40 Jesus|strong="G2424" saith|strong="G3004" unto her|strong="G0846", \+w Said I|strong="G2036"\+w* \+w not|strong="G3756"\+w* \+w unto thee|strong="G4671"\+w*, \+w that|strong="G3754"\+w*, \+w if|strong="G1437"\+w* \+w thou wouldest believe|strong="G4100"\+w*, \+w thou shouldest see|strong="G3700"\+w* \+w the glory|strong="G1391"\+w* \+w of God|strong="G2316"\+w*?
40 Respondeu-lhe Jesus: Não te disse que, se creres, verás a glória de Deus?
41 Then|strong="G3767" they took away|strong="G0142" the stone|strong="G3037" from the place where|strong="G3757" the dead|strong="G2348" was|strong="G2258" laid|strong="G2749". And|strong="G1161" Jesus|strong="G2424" lifted|strong="G0142" up|strong="G0507" his eyes|strong="G3788", and|strong="G2532" said|strong="G2036", \+w Father|strong="G3962"\+w*, \+w I thank|strong="G2168"\+w* \+w thee|strong="G4671"\+w* \+w that|strong="G3754"\+w* \+w thou hast heard|strong="G0191"\+w* \+w me|strong="G3450"\+w*.
41 Tiraram então a pedra. E Jesus, levantando os olhos ao céu, disse: Pai, graças te dou, porque me ouviste.
42 \+w And|strong="G1161"\+w* \+w I|strong="G1473"\+w* \+w knew|strong="G1492"\+w* \+w that|strong="G3754"\+w* \+w thou hearest|strong="G0191"\+w* \+w me|strong="G3450"\+w* \+w always|strong="G3842"\+w*: \+w but|strong="G0235"\+w* \+w because of|strong="G1223"\+w* \+w the people|strong="G3793"\+w* \+w which stand by|strong="G4026"\+w* \+w I said|strong="G2036"\+w* \+add it\+add*, \+w that|strong="G2443"\+w* \+w they may believe|strong="G4100"\+w* \+w that|strong="G3754"\+w* \+w thou|strong="G4771"\+w* \+w hast sent|strong="G0649"\+w* \+w me|strong="G3165"\+w*.
42 Eu sabia que sempre me ouves; mas por causa da multidão que está em redor é que assim falei, para que eles creiam que tu me enviaste.
43 And|strong="G2532" when he|strong="G2036" thus|strong="G5023" had spoken|strong="G2036", he cried|strong="G2905" with a|strong="G5456" loud|strong="G3173" voice|strong="G5456", \+w Lazarus|strong="G2976"\+w*, \+w come|strong="G1204"\+w* \+w forth|strong="G1854"\+w*.
43 E, tendo dito isso, clamou em alta voz: Lázaro, vem para fora!
44 And|strong="G2532" he that was dead|strong="G2348" came forth|strong="G1831", bound|strong="G1210" hand|strong="G5495" and|strong="G2532" foot|strong="G4228" with|strong="G1210" graveclothes|strong="G2750": and|strong="G2532" his|strong="G0846" face|strong="G3799" was bound about with|strong="G4019" a napkin|strong="G4676". Jesus|strong="G2424" saith|strong="G3004" unto them|strong="G0846", \+w Loose|strong="G3089"\+w* \+w him|strong="G0846"\+w*, \+w and|strong="G2532"\+w* \+w let him|strong="G0863"\+w* \+w go|strong="G5217"\+w*.
44 Saiu o que estivera morto, ligados os pés e as mãos com faixas, e o seu rosto envolto num lenço. Disse-lhes Jesus: Desligai-o e deixai-o ir.
45 Then|strong="G3767" many|strong="G4183" of|strong="G1537" the Jews|strong="G2453" which came|strong="G2064" to|strong="G4314" Mary|strong="G3137", and|strong="G2532" had seen|strong="G2300" the things which|strong="G3739" Jesus|strong="G2424" did|strong="G4160", believed|strong="G4100" on|strong="G1519" him|strong="G0846".
45 Muitos, pois, dentre os judeus que tinham vindo visitar Maria, e que tinham visto o que Jesus fizera, creram nele.
46 But|strong="G1161" some|strong="G5100" of|strong="G1537" them|strong="G0846" went their ways|strong="G0565" to|strong="G4314" the Pharisees|strong="G5330", and|strong="G2532" told|strong="G2036" them|strong="G0846" what things|strong="G3739" Jesus|strong="G2424" had done|strong="G4160".
46 Mas alguns deles foram ter com os fariseus e disseram-lhes o que Jesus tinha feito.
47 Then|strong="G3767" gathered|strong="G4863" the chief priests|strong="G0749" and|strong="G2532" the Pharisees|strong="G5330" a council|strong="G4892", and|strong="G2532" said|strong="G3004", What|strong="G5101" do we|strong="G4160"? for|strong="G3754" this|strong="G3778" man|strong="G0444" doeth|strong="G4160" many|strong="G4183" miracles|strong="G4592".
47 Então os principais sacerdotes e os fariseus reuniram o sinédrio e diziam: Que faremos? porquanto este homem vem operando muitos sinais.

52 e não somente pela nação, mas também para congregar num só corpo os filhos de Deus que estão dispersos.
