2 To whom|strong="G3739" also|strong="G2532" Abraham|strong="G0011" gave|strong="G3307" a tenth part|strong="G1181" of|strong="G0575" all|strong="G3956"; first|strong="G4412" being by interpretation|strong="G2059" King|strong="G0935" of righteousness|strong="G1343", and|strong="G1161" after that|strong="G1899" also|strong="G2532" King|strong="G0935" of Salem|strong="G4532", which|strong="G3739" is|strong="G2076", King|strong="G0935" of peace|strong="G1515";
3 Without father|strong="G0540", without mother|strong="G0282", without descent|strong="G0035", having|strong="G2192" neither|strong="G3383" beginning|strong="G0746" of days|strong="G2250", nor|strong="G3383" end|strong="G5056" of life|strong="G2222"; but|strong="G1161" made like|strong="G0871" unto the Son|strong="G5207" of God|strong="G2316"; abideth|strong="G3306" a priest|strong="G2409" continually|strong="G1336".
4 Now|strong="G1161" consider|strong="G2334" how great|strong="G4080" this man|strong="G3778" was, unto whom|strong="G3739" even|strong="G2532" the patriarch|strong="G3966" Abraham|strong="G0011" gave|strong="G1325" the tenth|strong="G1181" of|strong="G1537" the spoils|strong="G0205".
5 And|strong="G2532" verily|strong="G3303" they that are|strong="G2983" of|strong="G1537" the sons|strong="G5207" of Levi|strong="G3017", who receive|strong="G2983" the office of the priesthood|strong="G2405", have|strong="G2192" a commandment|strong="G1785" to take tithes of|strong="G0586" the people|strong="G2992" according to|strong="G2596" the law|strong="G3551", that|strong="G5124" is|strong="G2076", of|strong="G0080" their|strong="G0846" brethren|strong="G0080", though|strong="G2539" they come out|strong="G1831" of|strong="G1537" the loins|strong="G3751" of Abraham|strong="G0011":
6 But|strong="G1161" he whose descent is|strong="G1075" not|strong="G3361" counted|strong="G1075" from|strong="G1537" them|strong="G0846" received tithes|strong="G1183" of Abraham|strong="G0011", and|strong="G2532" blessed|strong="G2127" him that had|strong="G2192" the promises|strong="G1860".
7 And|strong="G1161" without|strong="G5565" all|strong="G3956" contradiction|strong="G0485" the less|strong="G1640" is blessed|strong="G2127" of|strong="G5259" the better|strong="G2909".
8 And|strong="G2532" here|strong="G5602" men|strong="G0444" that die|strong="G0599" receive|strong="G2983" tithes|strong="G1181"; but|strong="G1161" there|strong="G1563" he|strong="G3140" receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed|strong="G3140" that|strong="G3754" he liveth|strong="G2198".
9 And|strong="G2532" as|strong="G5613" I may so say|strong="G2036", Levi|strong="G3017" also|strong="G2532", who receiveth|strong="G2983" tithes|strong="G1181", payed tithes|strong="G1183" in|strong="G1223" Abraham|strong="G0011".
10 For|strong="G1063" he was|strong="G2258" yet|strong="G2089" in|strong="G1722" the loins|strong="G3751" of his father|strong="G3962", when|strong="G3753" Melchisedec|strong="G3198" met|strong="G4876" him|strong="G0846".
11 If|strong="G1487" therefore|strong="G3303" perfection|strong="G5050" were|strong="G2258" by|strong="G1223" the Levitical|strong="G3020" priesthood|strong="G2420", (for|strong="G1063" under|strong="G1909" it|strong="G0846" the people|strong="G2992" received the law|strong="G3549",) what|strong="G5101" further|strong="G2089" need|strong="G5532" was there that|strong="G0450" another|strong="G2087" priest|strong="G2409" should rise|strong="G0450" after|strong="G2596" the order|strong="G5010" of Melchisedec|strong="G3198", and|strong="G2532" not|strong="G3756" be called|strong="G3004" after|strong="G2596" the order|strong="G5010" of Aaron|strong="G0002"?
12 For|strong="G1063" the priesthood|strong="G2420" being changed|strong="G3346", there is made|strong="G1096" of|strong="G1537" necessity|strong="G0318" a change|strong="G3331" also|strong="G2532" of the law|strong="G3551".
13 For|strong="G1063" he|strong="G3348" of|strong="G1909" whom|strong="G3739" these things|strong="G5023" are spoken|strong="G3004" pertaineth|strong="G3348" to|strong="G5443" another|strong="G2087" tribe|strong="G5443", of|strong="G0575" which|strong="G3739" no man|strong="G3762" gave attendance|strong="G4337" at the altar|strong="G2379".
14 For|strong="G1063" it is evident|strong="G4271" that|strong="G3754" our|strong="G2257" Lord|strong="G2962" sprang|strong="G0393" out of|strong="G1537" Juda|strong="G2448"; of|strong="G1519" which|strong="G3739" tribe|strong="G5443" Moses|strong="G3475" spake|strong="G2980" nothing|strong="G3762" concerning|strong="G4012" priesthood|strong="G2420".
15 And|strong="G2532" it is|strong="G2076" yet|strong="G2089" far more|strong="G4054" evident|strong="G2612": for that|strong="G1487" after|strong="G2596" the similitude|strong="G3665" of Melchisedec|strong="G3198" there ariseth|strong="G0450" another|strong="G2087" priest|strong="G2409",
16 Who|strong="G3739" is made|strong="G1096", not|strong="G3756" after|strong="G2596" the law|strong="G3551" of a|strong="G1785" carnal|strong="G4559" commandment|strong="G1785", but|strong="G0235" after|strong="G2596" the power|strong="G1411" of an|strong="G2222" endless|strong="G0179" life|strong="G2222".
17 For|strong="G1063" he testifieth|strong="G3140", Thou|strong="G4771" art a priest|strong="G2409" for|strong="G1519" ever|strong="G0165" after|strong="G2596" the order|strong="G5010" of Melchisedec|strong="G3198".
18 For|strong="G1063" there is|strong="G1096" verily|strong="G3303" a disannulling|strong="G0115" of the commandment|strong="G1785" going before|strong="G4254" for|strong="G1223" the weakness|strong="G0772" and|strong="G2532" unprofitableness|strong="G0512" thereof|strong="G0846".
19 For|strong="G1063" the law|strong="G3551" made|strong="G5048" nothing|strong="G3762" perfect|strong="G5048", but|strong="G1161" the bringing in|strong="G1898" of a|strong="G1680" better|strong="G2909" hope|strong="G1680" did; by|strong="G1223" the which|strong="G3739" we draw nigh|strong="G1448" unto God|strong="G2316".
20 And|strong="G2532" in|strong="G2596"asmuch as|strong="G3745" not|strong="G3756" without|strong="G5565" an oath|strong="G3728" he was made priest:
21 (For|strong="G1063" those priests|strong="G2409" were|strong="G1526" made|strong="G1096" without|strong="G5565" an oath|strong="G3728"; but|strong="G1161" this|strong="G3588" with|strong="G3326" an oath|strong="G3728" by|strong="G1223" him that said|strong="G3004" unto|strong="G4314" him|strong="G0846", The Lord|strong="G2962" sware|strong="G3660" and|strong="G2532" will|strong="G3338" not|strong="G3756" repent|strong="G3338", Thou|strong="G4771" art a priest|strong="G2409" for|strong="G1519" ever|strong="G0165" after|strong="G2596" the order|strong="G5010" of Melchisedec|strong="G3198":)
22 By|strong="G2596" so much|strong="G5118" was|strong="G1096" Jesus|strong="G2424" made|strong="G1096" a surety|strong="G1450" of a|strong="G1242" better|strong="G2909" testament|strong="G1242".
23 And|strong="G2532" they|strong="G1526" truly|strong="G3303" were|strong="G1526" many|strong="G4119" priests|strong="G2409", because|strong="G1223" they were not suffered|strong="G2967" to continue|strong="G3887" by reason of death|strong="G2288":
24 But|strong="G1161" this|strong="G3588" man, because|strong="G1223" he|strong="G0846" continueth|strong="G3306" ever|strong="G0165", hath|strong="G2192" an|strong="G2420" unchangeable|strong="G0531" priesthood|strong="G2420".
25 Wherefore|strong="G3606" he is able|strong="G1410" also|strong="G2532" to save|strong="G4982" them|strong="G3838" to|strong="G1519" the uttermost|strong="G3838" that come|strong="G4334" unto God|strong="G2316" by|strong="G1223" him|strong="G0846", seeing he|strong="G2198" ever|strong="G3842" liveth|strong="G2198" to|strong="G1519" make intercession|strong="G1793" for|strong="G5228" them|strong="G0846".
26 For|strong="G1063" such|strong="G5108" an high priest|strong="G0749" became|strong="G4241" us|strong="G2254", who is holy|strong="G3741", harmless|strong="G0172", undefiled|strong="G0283", separate|strong="G5563" from|strong="G0575" sinners|strong="G0268", and|strong="G2532" made|strong="G1096" higher|strong="G5308" than the heavens|strong="G3772";
27 Who|strong="G3739" needeth|strong="G0318" not|strong="G3756" daily|strong="G2250", as|strong="G5618" those high priests|strong="G0749", to offer up|strong="G0399" sacrifice|strong="G2378", first|strong="G4386" for|strong="G5228" his own|strong="G2398" sins|strong="G0266", and then|strong="G1899" for the people’s|strong="G2992": for|strong="G1063" this|strong="G5124" he did|strong="G4160" once|strong="G2178", when he offered up|strong="G0399" himself|strong="G1438".
28 For|strong="G1063" the law|strong="G3551" maketh|strong="G2525" men|strong="G0444" high priests|strong="G0749" which have|strong="G2192" infirmity|strong="G0769"; but|strong="G1161" the word|strong="G3056" of the oath|strong="G3728", which was|strong="G3588" since|strong="G3326" the law|strong="G3551", maketh the Son|strong="G5207", who is consecrated|strong="G5048" for|strong="G1519" evermore|strong="G0165".
