And Abraham|strong="H0085" was old|strong="H2204", and well stricken|strong="H0935" in age|strong="H3117": and the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had blessed|strong="H1288" Abraham|strong="H0085" in all things.
And Abraham|strong="H0085" said|strong="H0559" unto his eldest|strong="H2205" servant|strong="H5650" of his house|strong="H1004", that ruled over|strong="H4910" all that he had, Put|strong="H7760", I pray thee, thy hand|strong="H3027" under my thigh|strong="H3409":
And I will make thee swear|strong="H7650" by the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, the God|strong="H0430" of heaven|strong="H8064", and the God|strong="H0430" of the earth|strong="H0776", that thou shalt not take|strong="H3947" a wife|strong="H0802" unto my son|strong="H1121" of the daughters|strong="H1323" of the Canaanites|strong="H3669", among|strong="H7130" whom I dwell|strong="H3427":
But thou shalt go|strong="H3212" unto my country|strong="H0776", and to my kindred|strong="H4138", and take|strong="H3947" a wife|strong="H0802" unto my son|strong="H1121" Isaac|strong="H3327".
And the servant|strong="H5650" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Peradventure the woman|strong="H0802" will not be willing|strong="H0014" to follow|strong="H3212" me|strong="H0310" unto this land|strong="H0776": must I needs bring|strong="H7725" thy son|strong="H1121" again|strong="H7725" unto the land|strong="H0776" from whence thou camest|strong="H3318"?
And Abraham|strong="H0085" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Beware|strong="H8104" thou that thou bring|strong="H7725" not|strong="H6435" my son|strong="H1121" thither again|strong="H7725".
The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of heaven|strong="H8064", which took me|strong="H3947" from my father’s|strong="H0001" house|strong="H1004", and from the land|strong="H0776" of my kindred|strong="H4138", and which spake|strong="H1696" unto me, and that sware|strong="H7650" unto me, saying|strong="H0559", Unto thy seed|strong="H2233" will I give|strong="H5414" this land|strong="H0776"; he shall send|strong="H7971" his angel|strong="H4397" before thee|strong="H6440", and thou shalt take|strong="H3947" a wife|strong="H0802" unto my son|strong="H1121" from thence.
And if the woman|strong="H0802" will not be willing|strong="H0014" to follow|strong="H3212" thee|strong="H0310", then thou shalt be clear|strong="H5352" from this my oath|strong="H7621": only bring|strong="H7725" not my son|strong="H1121" thither again|strong="H7725".
And the servant|strong="H5650" put|strong="H7760" his hand|strong="H3027" under the thigh|strong="H3409" of Abraham|strong="H0085" his master|strong="H0113", and sware|strong="H7650" to him concerning|strong="H5921" that|strong="H2088" matter|strong="H1697".
And the servant|strong="H5650" took|strong="H3947" ten|strong="H6235" camels|strong="H1581" of the camels|strong="H1581" of his master|strong="H0113", and departed|strong="H3212"; for all the goods|strong="H2898" of his master|strong="H0113" were in his hand|strong="H3027": and he arose|strong="H6965", and went|strong="H3212" to Mesopotamia|strong="H0763", unto the city|strong="H5892" of Nahor|strong="H5152".
And he made|strong="H1288" his camels|strong="H1581" to kneel down|strong="H1288" without|strong="H2351" the city|strong="H5892" by|strong="H0413" a well|strong="H0875" of water|strong="H4325" at the time|strong="H6256" of the evening|strong="H6153", even the time|strong="H6256" that women go out|strong="H3318" to draw|strong="H7579" water.
And he said|strong="H0559", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of my master|strong="H0113" Abraham|strong="H0085", I pray thee, send me|strong="H6440" good speed|strong="H7136" this day|strong="H3117", and shew|strong="H6213" kindness|strong="H2617" unto|strong="H5973" my master|strong="H0113" Abraham|strong="H0085".
Behold, I stand|strong="H5324" here by the well|strong="H5869" of water|strong="H4325"; and the daughters|strong="H1323" of the men|strong="H0582" of the city|strong="H5892" come out|strong="H3318" to draw|strong="H7579" water|strong="H4325":
And let it come to pass, that the damsel|strong="H5291" to whom I shall say|strong="H0559", Let down|strong="H5186" thy pitcher|strong="H3537", I pray thee, that I may drink|strong="H8354"; and she shall say|strong="H0559", Drink|strong="H8354", and I will give|strong="H8248" thy camels|strong="H1581" drink|strong="H8248" also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed|strong="H3198" for thy servant|strong="H5650" Isaac|strong="H3327"; and thereby shall I know|strong="H3045" that thou hast shewed|strong="H6213" kindness|strong="H2617" unto my master|strong="H0113".
And it came to pass, before he had done|strong="H3615" speaking|strong="H1696", that, behold, Rebekah|strong="H7259" came out|strong="H3318", who|strong="H0834" was born|strong="H3205" to Bethuel|strong="H1328", son|strong="H1121" of Milcah|strong="H4435", the wife|strong="H0802" of Nahor|strong="H5152", Abraham’s|strong="H0085" brother|strong="H0251", with her pitcher|strong="H3537" upon her shoulder|strong="H7926".
And the damsel|strong="H5291" was very|strong="H3966" fair|strong="H2896" to look upon|strong="H4758", a virgin|strong="H1330", neither had any man|strong="H0376" known|strong="H3045" her: and she went down|strong="H3381" to the well|strong="H5869", and filled|strong="H4390" her pitcher|strong="H3537", and came up|strong="H5927".
And the servant|strong="H5650" ran|strong="H7323" to meet her|strong="H7125", and said|strong="H0559", Let me, I pray thee, drink|strong="H1572" a little|strong="H4592" water|strong="H4325" of thy pitcher|strong="H3537".
And she said|strong="H0559", Drink|strong="H8354", my lord|strong="H0113": and she hasted|strong="H4116", and let down|strong="H3381" her pitcher|strong="H3537" upon her hand|strong="H3027", and gave him drink|strong="H8248".
And when she had done|strong="H3615" giving him drink|strong="H8248", she said|strong="H0559", I will draw|strong="H7579" water for thy camels|strong="H1581" also, until they have done|strong="H3615" drinking|strong="H8354".
And she hasted|strong="H4116", and emptied|strong="H6168" her pitcher|strong="H3537" into the trough|strong="H8268", and ran|strong="H7323" again unto the well|strong="H0875" to draw|strong="H7579" water, and drew|strong="H7579" for all his camels|strong="H1581".
And the man|strong="H0376" wondering|strong="H7583" at her held his peace|strong="H2790", to wit|strong="H3045" whether the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* had made|strong="H6743" his journey|strong="H1870" prosperous|strong="H6743" or|strong="H0518" not.
And it came to pass, as the camels|strong="H1581" had done|strong="H3615" drinking|strong="H8354", that the man|strong="H0376" took|strong="H3947" a golden|strong="H2091" earring|strong="H5141" of half a shekel|strong="H1235" weight|strong="H4948", and two|strong="H8147" bracelets|strong="H6781" for her hands|strong="H3027" of ten|strong="H6235" shekels weight|strong="H4948" of gold|strong="H2091";
And said|strong="H0559", Whose|strong="H4310" daughter|strong="H1323" art thou|strong="H0859"? tell|strong="H5046" me, I pray thee: is there|strong="H3426" room|strong="H4725" in thy father’s|strong="H0001" house|strong="H1004" for us to lodge in|strong="H3885"?
And she said|strong="H0559" unto him, I am the daughter|strong="H1323" of Bethuel|strong="H1328" the son|strong="H1121" of Milcah|strong="H4435", which she bare|strong="H3205" unto Nahor|strong="H5152".
She said|strong="H0559" moreover unto him, We have both|strong="H1571" straw|strong="H8401" and provender|strong="H4554" enough|strong="H7227", and|strong="H1571" room|strong="H4725" to lodge in|strong="H3885".
And the man|strong="H0376" bowed down his head|strong="H6915", and worshipped|strong="H7812" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
And he said|strong="H0559", Blessed|strong="H1288" be the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of my master|strong="H0113" Abraham|strong="H0085", who hath not left destitute|strong="H5800" my master|strong="H0113" of his mercy|strong="H2617" and his truth|strong="H0571": I being in the way|strong="H1870", the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* led me|strong="H5148" to the house|strong="H1004" of my master’s|strong="H0113" brethren|strong="H0251".
And the damsel|strong="H5291" ran|strong="H7323", and told|strong="H5046" them of her mother’s|strong="H0517" house|strong="H1004" these things|strong="H1697".
And Rebekah|strong="H7259" had a brother|strong="H0251", and his name|strong="H8034" was Laban|strong="H3837": and Laban|strong="H3837" ran|strong="H7323" out|strong="H2351" unto the man|strong="H0376", unto the well|strong="H5869".
And it came to pass, when he saw|strong="H7200" the earring|strong="H5141" and bracelets|strong="H6781" upon his sister’s|strong="H0269" hands|strong="H3027", and when he heard|strong="H8085" the words|strong="H1697" of Rebekah|strong="H7259" his sister|strong="H0269", saying|strong="H0559", Thus|strong="H3541" spake|strong="H1696" the man|strong="H0376" unto me; that he came|strong="H0935" unto the man|strong="H0376"; and, behold, he stood|strong="H5975" by|strong="H5921" the camels|strong="H1581" at the well|strong="H5869".
And he said|strong="H0559", Come in|strong="H0935", thou blessed|strong="H1288" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; wherefore standest|strong="H5975" thou without|strong="H2351"? for I have prepared|strong="H6437" the house|strong="H1004", and room|strong="H4725" for the camels|strong="H1581".
And the man|strong="H0376" came|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004": and he ungirded|strong="H6605" his camels|strong="H1581", and gave|strong="H5414" straw|strong="H8401" and provender|strong="H4554" for the camels|strong="H1581", and water|strong="H4325" to wash|strong="H7364" his feet|strong="H7272", and the men’s|strong="H0582" feet|strong="H7272" that were with him.
And there was set|strong="H7760" meat before him|strong="H6440" to eat|strong="H0398": but he said|strong="H0559", I will not eat|strong="H0398", until I have told|strong="H1696" mine errand|strong="H1697". And he said|strong="H0559", Speak on|strong="H1696".
And he said|strong="H0559", I am Abraham’s|strong="H0085" servant|strong="H5650".
And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath blessed|strong="H1288" my master|strong="H0113" greatly|strong="H3966"; and he is become great|strong="H1431": and he hath given|strong="H5414" him flocks|strong="H6629", and herds|strong="H1241", and silver|strong="H3701", and gold|strong="H2091", and menservants|strong="H5650", and maidservants|strong="H8198", and camels|strong="H1581", and asses|strong="H2543".
And Sarah|strong="H8283" my master’s|strong="H0113" wife|strong="H0802" bare|strong="H3205" a son|strong="H1121" to my master|strong="H0113" when|strong="H0310" she was old|strong="H2209": and unto him hath he given|strong="H5414" all that he hath.
And my master|strong="H0113" made me swear|strong="H7650", saying|strong="H0559", Thou shalt not take|strong="H3947" a wife|strong="H0802" to my son|strong="H1121" of the daughters|strong="H1323" of the Canaanites|strong="H3669", in whose land|strong="H0776" I dwell|strong="H3427":
But|strong="H0518" thou shalt go|strong="H3212" unto my father’s|strong="H0001" house|strong="H1004", and to my kindred|strong="H4940", and take|strong="H3947" a wife|strong="H0802" unto my son|strong="H1121".
And I said|strong="H0559" unto my master|strong="H0113", Peradventure the woman|strong="H0802" will not follow|strong="H3212" me.
And he said|strong="H0559" unto me, The \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, before|strong="H6440" whom I walk|strong="H1980", will send|strong="H7971" his angel|strong="H4397" with thee, and prosper|strong="H6743" thy way|strong="H1870"; and thou shalt take|strong="H3947" a wife|strong="H0802" for my son|strong="H1121" of my kindred|strong="H4940", and of my father’s|strong="H0001" house|strong="H1004":
Then shalt thou be clear|strong="H5352" from this my oath|strong="H0423", when thou comest|strong="H0935" to my kindred|strong="H4940"; and if they give|strong="H5414" not thee one, thou shalt be clear|strong="H5355" from my oath|strong="H0423".
And I came|strong="H0935" this day|strong="H3117" unto the well|strong="H5869", and said|strong="H0559", O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of my master|strong="H0113" Abraham|strong="H0085", if now thou do|strong="H3426" prosper|strong="H6743" my way|strong="H1870" which I go|strong="H1980":
Behold, I stand|strong="H5324" by the well|strong="H5869" of water|strong="H4325"; and it shall come to pass, that when the virgin|strong="H5959" cometh forth|strong="H3318" to draw|strong="H7579" water, and I say|strong="H0559" to her, Give me|strong="H8248", I pray thee, a little|strong="H4592" water|strong="H4325" of thy pitcher|strong="H3537" to drink|strong="H8248";
And she say|strong="H0559" to me, Both drink|strong="H8354" thou, and I will also draw|strong="H7579" for thy camels|strong="H1581": let the same be the woman|strong="H0802" whom the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath appointed out|strong="H3198" for my master’s|strong="H0113" son|strong="H1121".
And before I had done|strong="H3615" speaking|strong="H1696" in mine heart|strong="H3820", behold, Rebekah|strong="H7259" came forth|strong="H3318" with her pitcher|strong="H3537" on her shoulder|strong="H7926"; and she went down|strong="H3381" unto the well|strong="H5869", and drew|strong="H7579" water: and I said|strong="H0559" unto her, Let me drink|strong="H8248", I pray thee.
And she made haste|strong="H4116", and let down|strong="H3381" her pitcher|strong="H3537" from her shoulder, and said|strong="H0559", Drink|strong="H8354", and I will give|strong="H8248" thy camels|strong="H1581" drink|strong="H8248" also: so I drank|strong="H8354", and she made|strong="H8248" the camels|strong="H1581" drink|strong="H8248" also.
And I asked|strong="H7592" her, and said|strong="H0559", Whose daughter|strong="H1323" art thou? And she said|strong="H0559", The daughter|strong="H1323" of Bethuel|strong="H1328", Nahor’s|strong="H5152" son|strong="H1121", whom Milcah|strong="H4435" bare|strong="H3205" unto him: and I put|strong="H7760" the earring|strong="H5141" upon her face|strong="H0639", and the bracelets|strong="H6781" upon her hands|strong="H3027".
And I bowed down my head|strong="H6915", and worshipped|strong="H7812" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and blessed|strong="H1288" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of my master|strong="H0113" Abraham|strong="H0085", which had led me|strong="H5148" in the right|strong="H0571" way|strong="H1870" to take|strong="H3947" my master’s|strong="H0113" brother’s|strong="H0251" daughter|strong="H1323" unto his son|strong="H1121".
And now if ye will|strong="H3426" deal|strong="H6213" kindly|strong="H2617" and truly|strong="H0571" with my master|strong="H0113", tell|strong="H5046" me: and if not, tell|strong="H5046" me; that I may turn|strong="H6437" to the right hand|strong="H3225", or|strong="H0176" to the left|strong="H8040".
Then Laban|strong="H3837" and Bethuel|strong="H1328" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559", The thing|strong="H1697" proceedeth|strong="H3318" from the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: we cannot|strong="H3201" speak|strong="H1696" unto thee bad|strong="H7451" or|strong="H0176" good|strong="H2896".
Behold, Rebekah|strong="H7259" is before thee|strong="H6440", take|strong="H3947" her, and go|strong="H3212", and let her be thy master’s|strong="H0113" son’s|strong="H1121" wife|strong="H0802", as the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath spoken|strong="H1696".
And it came to pass, that, when Abraham’s|strong="H0085" servant|strong="H5650" heard|strong="H8085" their words|strong="H1697", he worshipped|strong="H7812" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, bowing himself to the earth|strong="H0776".
And the servant|strong="H5650" brought forth|strong="H3318" jewels|strong="H3627" of silver|strong="H3701", and jewels|strong="H3627" of gold|strong="H2091", and raiment|strong="H0899", and gave|strong="H5414" them to Rebekah|strong="H7259": he gave|strong="H5414" also to her brother|strong="H0251" and to her mother|strong="H0517" precious things|strong="H4030".
And they did eat|strong="H0398" and drink|strong="H8354", he and the men|strong="H0582" that were with him, and tarried all night|strong="H3885"; and they rose up|strong="H6965" in the morning|strong="H1242", and he said|strong="H0559", Send me away|strong="H7971" unto my master|strong="H0113".
And her brother|strong="H0251" and her mother|strong="H0517" said|strong="H0559", Let the damsel|strong="H5291" abide|strong="H3427" with us a few days|strong="H3117", at the least|strong="H0176" ten|strong="H6218"; after|strong="H0310" that she shall go|strong="H3212".
And he said|strong="H0559" unto them, Hinder me|strong="H0309" not, seeing the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath prospered|strong="H6743" my way|strong="H1870"; send me away|strong="H7971" that I may go|strong="H3212" to my master|strong="H0113".
And they said|strong="H0559", We will call|strong="H7121" the damsel|strong="H5291", and enquire|strong="H7592" at her mouth|strong="H6310".
And they called|strong="H7121" Rebekah|strong="H7259", and said|strong="H0559" unto her, Wilt thou go|strong="H3212" with this man|strong="H0376"? And she said|strong="H0559", I will go|strong="H3212".
And they sent away|strong="H7971" Rebekah|strong="H7259" their sister|strong="H0269", and her nurse|strong="H3243", and Abraham’s|strong="H0085" servant|strong="H5650", and his men|strong="H0582".
And they blessed|strong="H1288" Rebekah|strong="H7259", and said|strong="H0559" unto her, Thou|strong="H0859" art our sister|strong="H0269", be thou|strong="H1961" the mother of thousands|strong="H0505" of millions|strong="H7233", and let thy seed|strong="H2233" possess|strong="H3423" the gate|strong="H8179" of those which hate|strong="H8130" them.
And Rebekah|strong="H7259" arose|strong="H6965", and her damsels|strong="H5291", and they rode|strong="H7392" upon the camels|strong="H1581", and followed|strong="H3212" the man|strong="H0376": and the servant|strong="H5650" took|strong="H3947" Rebekah|strong="H7259", and went his way|strong="H3212".
And Isaac|strong="H3327" came|strong="H0935" from the way|strong="H0935" of the well Lahai-roi|strong="H0883"; for he dwelt|strong="H3427" in the south|strong="H5045" country|strong="H0776".
And Isaac|strong="H3327" went out|strong="H3318" to meditate|strong="H7742" in the field|strong="H7704" at|strong="H6437" the eventide|strong="H6153": and he lifted up|strong="H5375" his eyes|strong="H5869", and saw|strong="H7200", and, behold, the camels|strong="H1581" were coming|strong="H0935".
And Rebekah|strong="H7259" lifted up|strong="H5375" her eyes|strong="H5869", and when she saw|strong="H7200" Isaac|strong="H3327", she lighted|strong="H5307" off|strong="H5921" the camel|strong="H1581".
For she had said|strong="H0559" unto the servant|strong="H5650", What|strong="H4310" man|strong="H0376" is this|strong="H1976" that walketh|strong="H1980" in the field|strong="H7704" to meet us|strong="H7125"? And the servant|strong="H5650" had said|strong="H0559", It is my master|strong="H0113": therefore she took|strong="H3947" a vail|strong="H6809", and covered herself|strong="H3680".
And the servant|strong="H5650" told|strong="H5608" Isaac|strong="H3327" all things|strong="H1697" that he had done|strong="H6213".
And Isaac|strong="H3327" brought her|strong="H0935" into his mother|strong="H0517" Sarah’s|strong="H8283" tent|strong="H0168", and took|strong="H3947" Rebekah|strong="H7259", and she became his wife|strong="H0802"; and he loved|strong="H0157" her: and Isaac|strong="H3327" was comforted|strong="H5162" after|strong="H0310" his mother’s|strong="H0517" death.
