1 Then came|strong="H0935" certain|strong="H0582" of the elders|strong="H2205" of Israel|strong="H3478" unto me, and sat|strong="H3427" before|strong="H6440" me.
2 And the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came unto me, saying|strong="H0559",
3 Son|strong="H1121" of man|strong="H0120", these men|strong="H0582" have set up|strong="H5927" their idols|strong="H1544" in their heart|strong="H3820", and put|strong="H5414" the stumblingblock|strong="H4383" of their iniquity|strong="H5771" before|strong="H5227" their face|strong="H6440": should I be enquired|strong="H1875" of at all|strong="H1875" by them?
4 Therefore speak|strong="H1696" unto them, and say|strong="H0559" unto them, Thus saith|strong="H0559" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*; Every man|strong="H0376" of the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478" that setteth up|strong="H5927" his idols|strong="H1544" in his heart|strong="H3820", and putteth|strong="H7760" the stumblingblock|strong="H4383" of his iniquity|strong="H5771" before|strong="H5227" his face|strong="H6440", and cometh|strong="H0935" to the prophet|strong="H5030"; I the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will answer|strong="H6030" him that cometh|strong="H0935" according to the multitude|strong="H7230" of his idols|strong="H1544";
5 That I may take|strong="H8610" the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478" in their own heart|strong="H3820", because they are all estranged|strong="H2114" from me through their idols|strong="H1544".
6 Therefore say|strong="H0559" unto the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*; Repent|strong="H7725", and turn|strong="H7725" yourselves from your idols|strong="H1544"; and turn away|strong="H7725" your faces|strong="H6440" from all your abominations|strong="H8441".
7 For every one|strong="H0376" of the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478", or of the stranger|strong="H1616" that sojourneth|strong="H1481" in Israel|strong="H3478", which separateth|strong="H5144" himself from me|strong="H0310", and setteth up|strong="H5927" his idols|strong="H1544" in his heart|strong="H3820", and putteth|strong="H7760" the stumblingblock|strong="H4383" of his iniquity|strong="H5771" before|strong="H5227" his face|strong="H6440", and cometh|strong="H0935" to a prophet|strong="H5030" to enquire|strong="H1875" of him concerning me; I the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* will answer|strong="H6030" him by myself:
8 And I will set|strong="H5414" my face|strong="H6440" against that man|strong="H0376", and will make|strong="H8074" him a sign|strong="H0226" and a proverb|strong="H4912", and I will cut him off|strong="H3772" from the midst|strong="H8432" of my people|strong="H5971"; and ye shall know|strong="H3045" that I am the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
9 And if the prophet|strong="H5030" be deceived|strong="H6601" when he hath spoken|strong="H1696" a thing|strong="H1697", I the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* have deceived|strong="H6601" that prophet|strong="H5030", and I will stretch out|strong="H5186" my hand|strong="H3027" upon him, and will destroy|strong="H8045" him from the midst|strong="H8432" of my people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478".
10 And they shall bear|strong="H5375" the punishment of their iniquity|strong="H5771": the punishment|strong="H5771" of the prophet|strong="H5030" shall be even as the punishment|strong="H5771" of him that seeketh|strong="H1875" unto him;
11 That the house|strong="H1004" of Israel|strong="H3478" may go no more astray|strong="H8582" from me|strong="H0310", neither be polluted|strong="H2930" any more with all their transgressions|strong="H6588"; but that they may be my people|strong="H5971", and I may be their God|strong="H0430", saith|strong="H5002" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*.
12 The word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* came again to me, saying|strong="H0559",
13 Son|strong="H1121" of man|strong="H0120", when the land|strong="H0776" sinneth|strong="H2398" against me by trespassing|strong="H4603" grievously|strong="H4604", then will I stretch out|strong="H5186" mine hand|strong="H3027" upon it, and will break|strong="H7665" the staff|strong="H4294" of the bread|strong="H3899" thereof, and will send|strong="H7971" famine|strong="H7458" upon it, and will cut off|strong="H3772" man|strong="H0120" and beast|strong="H0929" from it:
14 Though these three|strong="H7969" men|strong="H0582", Noah|strong="H5146", Daniel|strong="H1840", and Job|strong="H0347", were in it|strong="H8432", they should deliver|strong="H5337" but their own souls|strong="H5315" by their righteousness|strong="H6666", saith|strong="H5002" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*.
15 If|strong="H3863" I cause noisome|strong="H7451" beasts|strong="H2416" to pass through|strong="H5674" the land|strong="H0776", and they spoil|strong="H7921" it, so that it be desolate|strong="H8077", that no man may pass through|strong="H5674" because|strong="H6440" of the beasts|strong="H2416":
16 Though these three|strong="H7969" men|strong="H0582" were in it|strong="H8432", as I live|strong="H2416", saith|strong="H5002" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*, they shall deliver|strong="H5337" neither sons|strong="H1121" nor daughters|strong="H1323"; they only shall be delivered|strong="H5337", but the land|strong="H0776" shall be desolate|strong="H8077".
17 Or if I bring|strong="H0935" a sword|strong="H2719" upon that land|strong="H0776", and say|strong="H0559", Sword|strong="H2719", go through|strong="H5674" the land|strong="H0776"; so that I cut off|strong="H3772" man|strong="H0120" and beast|strong="H0929" from it:
18 Though these three|strong="H7969" men|strong="H0582" were in it|strong="H8432", as I live|strong="H2416", saith|strong="H5002" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*, they shall deliver|strong="H5337" neither sons|strong="H1121" nor daughters|strong="H1323", but they only shall be delivered|strong="H5337" themselves.
19 Or if I send|strong="H7971" a pestilence|strong="H1698" into that land|strong="H0776", and pour out|strong="H8210" my fury|strong="H2534" upon it in blood|strong="H1818", to cut off|strong="H3772" from it man|strong="H0120" and beast|strong="H0929":
20 Though Noah|strong="H5146", Daniel|strong="H1840", and Job|strong="H0347", were in it|strong="H8432", as I live|strong="H2416", saith|strong="H5002" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*, they shall deliver|strong="H5337" neither son|strong="H1121" nor|strong="H0518" daughter|strong="H1323"; they shall but deliver|strong="H5337" their own souls|strong="H5315" by their righteousness|strong="H6666".
21 For thus saith|strong="H0559" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*; How much more when I send|strong="H7971" my four|strong="H0702" sore|strong="H7451" judgments|strong="H8201" upon Jerusalem|strong="H3389", the sword|strong="H2719", and the famine|strong="H7458", and the noisome|strong="H7451" beast|strong="H2416", and the pestilence|strong="H1698", to cut off|strong="H3772" from it man|strong="H0120" and beast|strong="H0929"?
22 Yet, behold, therein shall be left|strong="H3498" a remnant|strong="H6413" that shall be brought forth|strong="H3318", both sons|strong="H1121" and daughters|strong="H1323": behold, they shall come forth|strong="H3318" unto you, and ye shall see|strong="H7200" their way|strong="H1870" and their doings|strong="H5949": and ye shall be comforted|strong="H5162" concerning the evil|strong="H7451" that I have brought|strong="H0935" upon Jerusalem|strong="H3389", even concerning all that I have brought|strong="H0935" upon it.
23 And they shall comfort|strong="H5162" you, when ye see|strong="H7200" their ways|strong="H1870" and their doings|strong="H5949": and ye shall know|strong="H3045" that I have not done|strong="H6213" without cause|strong="H2600" all that I have done|strong="H6213" in it, saith|strong="H5002" the Lord|strong="H0136" \+w GOD|strong="H3069"\+w*.
