1 And Elisha|strong="H0477" the prophet|strong="H5030" called|strong="H7121" one|strong="H0259" of the children|strong="H1121" of the prophets|strong="H5030", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Gird up|strong="H2296" thy loins|strong="H4975", and take|strong="H3947" this box|strong="H6378" of oil|strong="H8081" in thine hand|strong="H3027", and go|strong="H3212" to Ramoth-gilead|strong="H7433":
2 And when thou comest|strong="H0935" thither, look out|strong="H7200" there Jehu|strong="H3058" the son|strong="H1121" of Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" the son|strong="H1121" of Nimshi|strong="H5250", and go in|strong="H0935", and make him arise up|strong="H6965" from among|strong="H8432" his brethren|strong="H0251", and carry|strong="H0935" him to an inner|strong="H2315" chamber|strong="H2315";
3 Then take|strong="H3947" the box|strong="H6378" of oil|strong="H8081", and pour|strong="H3332" it on his head|strong="H7218", and say|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, I have anointed|strong="H4886" thee king|strong="H4428" over Israel|strong="H3478". Then open|strong="H6605" the door|strong="H1817", and flee|strong="H5127", and tarry|strong="H2442" not.
4 So the young man|strong="H5288", even the young man|strong="H5288" the prophet|strong="H5030", went|strong="H3212" to Ramoth-gilead|strong="H7433".
5 And when he came|strong="H0935", behold, the captains|strong="H8269" of the host|strong="H2428" were sitting|strong="H3427"; and he said|strong="H0559", I have an errand|strong="H1697" to thee, O captain|strong="H8269". And Jehu|strong="H3058" said|strong="H0559", Unto which of all us? And he said|strong="H0559", To thee, O captain|strong="H8269".
6 And he arose|strong="H6965", and went|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004"; and he poured|strong="H3332" the oil|strong="H8081" on his head|strong="H7218", and said|strong="H0559" unto him, Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", I have anointed|strong="H4886" thee king|strong="H4428" over the people|strong="H5971" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, even over Israel|strong="H3478".
7 And thou shalt smite|strong="H5221" the house|strong="H1004" of Ahab|strong="H0256" thy master|strong="H0113", that I may avenge|strong="H5358" the blood|strong="H1818" of my servants|strong="H5650" the prophets|strong="H5030", and the blood|strong="H1818" of all the servants|strong="H5650" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, at the hand|strong="H3027" of Jezebel|strong="H0348".
8 For the whole house|strong="H1004" of Ahab|strong="H0256" shall perish|strong="H0006": and I will cut off|strong="H3772" from Ahab|strong="H0256" him that pisseth|strong="H8366" against the wall|strong="H7023", and him that is shut up|strong="H6113" and left|strong="H5800" in Israel|strong="H3478":
9 And I will make|strong="H5414" the house|strong="H1004" of Ahab|strong="H0256" like the house|strong="H1004" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379" the son|strong="H1121" of Nebat|strong="H5028", and like the house|strong="H1004" of Baasha|strong="H1201" the son|strong="H1121" of Ahijah|strong="H0281":
10 And the dogs|strong="H3611" shall eat|strong="H0398" Jezebel|strong="H0348" in the portion|strong="H2506" of Jezreel|strong="H3157", and there shall be none to bury|strong="H6912" her. And he opened|strong="H6605" the door|strong="H1817", and fled|strong="H5127".
11 Then Jehu|strong="H3058" came forth|strong="H3318" to the servants|strong="H5650" of his lord|strong="H0113": and one said|strong="H0559" unto him, Is all well|strong="H7965"? wherefore came|strong="H0935" this mad|strong="H7696" fellow to thee? And he said|strong="H0559" unto them, Ye know|strong="H3045" the man|strong="H0376", and his communication|strong="H7879".
12 And they said|strong="H0559", It is false|strong="H8267"; tell|strong="H5046" us now. And he said|strong="H0559", Thus and thus spake|strong="H0559" he to me, saying|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, I have anointed|strong="H4886" thee king|strong="H4428" over Israel|strong="H3478".
13 Then they hasted|strong="H4116", and took|strong="H3947" every man|strong="H0376" his garment|strong="H0899", and put|strong="H7760" it under him on the top|strong="H1634" of the stairs|strong="H4609", and blew|strong="H8628" with trumpets|strong="H7782", saying|strong="H0559", Jehu|strong="H3058" is king|strong="H4427".
14 So Jehu|strong="H3058" the son|strong="H1121" of Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092" the son|strong="H1121" of Nimshi|strong="H5250" conspired|strong="H7194" against Joram|strong="H3141". (Now Joram|strong="H3141" had kept|strong="H8104" Ramoth-gilead|strong="H7433", he and all Israel|strong="H3478", because|strong="H6440" of Hazael|strong="H2371" king|strong="H4428" of Syria|strong="H0758".
15 But king|strong="H4428" Joram|strong="H3088" was returned|strong="H7725" to be healed|strong="H7495" in Jezreel|strong="H3157" of the wounds|strong="H4347" which the Syrians|strong="H0761" had given|strong="H5221" him, when he fought|strong="H3898" with Hazael|strong="H2371" king|strong="H4428" of Syria|strong="H0758".) And Jehu|strong="H3058" said|strong="H0559", If it be|strong="H3426" your minds|strong="H5315", then let none|strong="H0408" go forth|strong="H3318" nor escape|strong="H6412" out of the city|strong="H5892" to go|strong="H3212" to tell|strong="H5046" it in Jezreel|strong="H3157".
16 So Jehu|strong="H3058" rode in a chariot|strong="H7392", and went|strong="H3212" to Jezreel|strong="H3157"; for Joram|strong="H3141" lay|strong="H7901" there. And Ahaziah|strong="H0274" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" was come down|strong="H3381" to see|strong="H7200" Joram|strong="H3141".
17 And there stood|strong="H5975" a watchman|strong="H6822" on the tower|strong="H4026" in Jezreel|strong="H3157", and he spied|strong="H7200" the company|strong="H8229" of Jehu|strong="H3058" as he came|strong="H0935", and said|strong="H0559", I see|strong="H7200" a company|strong="H8229". And Joram|strong="H3088" said|strong="H0559", Take|strong="H3947" an horseman|strong="H7395", and send|strong="H7971" to meet|strong="H7125" them, and let him say|strong="H0559", Is it peace|strong="H7965"?
18 So there went|strong="H3212" one on horseback|strong="H7392" to meet|strong="H7125" him, and said|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the king|strong="H4428", Is it peace|strong="H7965"? And Jehu|strong="H3058" said|strong="H0559", What hast thou to do with peace|strong="H7965"? turn|strong="H5437" thee behind|strong="H0310" me. And the watchman|strong="H6822" told|strong="H5046", saying|strong="H0559", The messenger|strong="H4397" came|strong="H0935" to them, but he cometh not again|strong="H7725".
19 Then he sent out|strong="H7971" a second|strong="H8145" on horseback|strong="H7392", which came|strong="H0935" to them, and said|strong="H0559", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the king|strong="H4428", Is it peace|strong="H7965"? And Jehu|strong="H3058" answered|strong="H0559", What hast thou to do with peace|strong="H7965"? turn|strong="H5437" thee behind|strong="H0310" me.
20 And the watchman|strong="H6822" told|strong="H5046", saying|strong="H0559", He came|strong="H0935" even unto them, and cometh not again|strong="H7725": and the driving|strong="H4491" is like the driving|strong="H4491" of Jehu|strong="H3058" the son|strong="H1121" of Nimshi|strong="H5250"; for he driveth|strong="H5090" furiously|strong="H7697".
21 And Joram|strong="H3088" said|strong="H0559", Make ready|strong="H0631". And his chariot|strong="H7393" was made ready|strong="H0631". And Joram|strong="H3088" king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" and Ahaziah|strong="H0274" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" went out|strong="H3318", each|strong="H0376" in his chariot|strong="H7393", and they went out|strong="H3318" against|strong="H7125" Jehu|strong="H3058", and met|strong="H4672" him in the portion|strong="H2513" of Naboth|strong="H5022" the Jezreelite|strong="H3158".
22 And it came to pass, when Joram|strong="H3088" saw|strong="H7200" Jehu|strong="H3058", that he said|strong="H0559", Is it peace|strong="H7965", Jehu|strong="H3058"? And he answered|strong="H0559", What peace|strong="H7965", so long as|strong="H5704" the whoredoms|strong="H2183" of thy mother|strong="H0517" Jezebel|strong="H0348" and her witchcrafts|strong="H3785" are so many|strong="H7227"?
23 And Joram|strong="H3088" turned|strong="H2015" his hands|strong="H3027", and fled|strong="H5127", and said|strong="H0559" to Ahaziah|strong="H0274", There is treachery|strong="H4820", O Ahaziah|strong="H0274".
24 And Jehu|strong="H3058" drew a bow|strong="H7198" with his full|strong="H4390" strength|strong="H3027", and smote|strong="H5221" Jehoram|strong="H3088" between his arms|strong="H2220", and the arrow|strong="H2678" went out|strong="H3318" at his heart|strong="H3820", and he sunk down|strong="H3766" in his chariot|strong="H7393".
25 Then said|strong="H0559" Jehu to Bidkar|strong="H0920" his captain|strong="H7991", Take up|strong="H5375", and cast|strong="H7993" him in the portion|strong="H2513" of the field|strong="H7704" of Naboth|strong="H5022" the Jezreelite|strong="H3158": for remember|strong="H2142" how that, when I and thou rode|strong="H7392" together|strong="H6776" after|strong="H0310" Ahab|strong="H0256" his father|strong="H0001", the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* laid|strong="H5375" this burden|strong="H4853" upon him;
26 Surely I have seen|strong="H7200" yesterday|strong="H0570" the blood|strong="H1818" of Naboth|strong="H5022", and the blood|strong="H1818" of his sons|strong="H1121", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; and I will requite|strong="H7999" thee in this plat|strong="H2513", saith|strong="H5002" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*. Now therefore take|strong="H5375" and cast|strong="H7993" him into the plat|strong="H2513" of ground, according to the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
27 But when Ahaziah|strong="H0274" the king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" saw|strong="H7200" this, he fled|strong="H5127" by the way|strong="H1870" of the garden|strong="H1588" house|strong="H1004". And Jehu|strong="H3058" followed|strong="H7291" after|strong="H0310" him, and said|strong="H0559", Smite|strong="H5221" him also in the chariot|strong="H4818". And they did so at the going up|strong="H4608" to Gur|strong="H1483", which is by Ibleam|strong="H2991". And he fled|strong="H5127" to Megiddo|strong="H4023", and died|strong="H4191" there.
28 And his servants|strong="H5650" carried|strong="H7392" him in a chariot to Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and buried|strong="H6912" him in his sepulchre|strong="H6900" with his fathers|strong="H0001" in the city|strong="H5892" of David|strong="H1732".
29 And in the eleventh|strong="H0259" year|strong="H8141" of Joram|strong="H3141" the son|strong="H1121" of Ahab|strong="H0256" began Ahaziah|strong="H0274" to reign|strong="H4427" over Judah|strong="H3063".
30 And when Jehu|strong="H3058" was come|strong="H0935" to Jezreel|strong="H3157", Jezebel|strong="H0348" heard|strong="H8085" of it; and she painted|strong="H7760" her face|strong="H5869", and tired|strong="H3190" her head|strong="H7218", and looked out|strong="H8259" at a window|strong="H2474".
31 And as Jehu|strong="H3058" entered in|strong="H0935" at the gate|strong="H8179", she said|strong="H0559", Had Zimri|strong="H2174" peace|strong="H7965", who slew|strong="H2026" his master|strong="H0113"?
32 And he lifted up|strong="H5375" his face|strong="H6440" to the window|strong="H2474", and said|strong="H0559", Who is on my side? who? And there looked out|strong="H8259" to him two|strong="H8147" or three|strong="H7969" eunuchs|strong="H5631".
33 And he said|strong="H0559", Throw her down|strong="H8058". So they threw her down|strong="H8058": and some of her blood|strong="H1818" was sprinkled|strong="H5137" on the wall|strong="H7023", and on the horses|strong="H5483": and he trode her under foot|strong="H7429".
34 And when he was come in|strong="H0935", he did eat|strong="H0398" and drink|strong="H8354", and said|strong="H0559", Go|strong="H6485", see now this cursed|strong="H0779" woman, and bury|strong="H6912" her: for she is a king’s|strong="H4428" daughter|strong="H1323".
35 And they went|strong="H3212" to bury|strong="H6912" her: but they found|strong="H4672" no more of her than|strong="H0518" the skull|strong="H1538", and the feet|strong="H7272", and the palms|strong="H3709" of her hands|strong="H3027".
36 Wherefore they came again|strong="H7725", and told|strong="H5046" him. And he said|strong="H0559", This is the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, which he spake|strong="H1696" by|strong="H3027" his servant|strong="H5650" Elijah|strong="H0452" the Tishbite|strong="H8664", saying|strong="H0559", In the portion|strong="H2506" of Jezreel|strong="H3157" shall dogs|strong="H3611" eat|strong="H0398" the flesh|strong="H1320" of Jezebel|strong="H0348":
37 And the carcase|strong="H5038" of Jezebel|strong="H0348" shall be as dung|strong="H1828" upon the face|strong="H6440" of the field|strong="H7704" in the portion|strong="H2506" of Jezreel|strong="H3157"; so that they shall not say|strong="H0559", This is Jezebel|strong="H0348".
