2 Reis 7

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

1 Then Elisha|strong="H0477" said|strong="H0559", Hear|strong="H8085" ye the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*; Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, To morrow|strong="H4279" about this time|strong="H6256" shall a measure|strong="H5429" of fine flour|strong="H5560" be sold for a shekel|strong="H8255", and two measures|strong="H5429" of barley|strong="H8184" for a shekel|strong="H8255", in the gate|strong="H8179" of Samaria|strong="H8111".

2 Then a lord|strong="H7991" on whose hand|strong="H3027" the king|strong="H4428" leaned|strong="H8172" answered|strong="H6030" the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", and said|strong="H0559", Behold, if the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* would make|strong="H6213" windows|strong="H0699" in heaven|strong="H8064", might this thing|strong="H1697" be? And he said|strong="H0559", Behold, thou shalt see|strong="H7200" it with thine eyes|strong="H5869", but shalt not eat|strong="H0398" thereof.

3 And there were four|strong="H0702" leprous|strong="H6879" men|strong="H0582" at the entering in|strong="H6607" of the gate|strong="H8179": and they said|strong="H0559" one|strong="H0376" to another|strong="H7453", Why sit|strong="H3427" we here until we die|strong="H4191"?

4 If we say|strong="H0559", We will enter|strong="H0935" into the city|strong="H5892", then the famine|strong="H7458" is in the city|strong="H5892", and we shall die|strong="H4191" there: and if we sit still|strong="H3427" here, we die|strong="H4191" also. Now therefore come|strong="H3212", and let us fall|strong="H5307" unto the host|strong="H4264" of the Syrians|strong="H0758": if they save us alive|strong="H2421", we shall live|strong="H2421"; and if they kill|strong="H4191" us, we shall but die|strong="H4191".

5 And they rose up|strong="H6965" in the twilight|strong="H5399", to go|strong="H0935" unto the camp|strong="H4264" of the Syrians|strong="H0758": and when they were come|strong="H0935" to the uttermost part|strong="H7097" of the camp|strong="H4264" of Syria|strong="H0758", behold, there was no man|strong="H0376" there.

6 For the Lord|strong="H0136" had made the host|strong="H4264" of the Syrians|strong="H0758" to hear|strong="H8085" a noise|strong="H6963" of chariots|strong="H7393", and a noise|strong="H6963" of horses|strong="H5483", even the noise|strong="H6963" of a great|strong="H1419" host|strong="H2428": and they said|strong="H0559" one|strong="H0376" to another|strong="H0251", Lo, the king|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478" hath hired|strong="H7936" against us the kings|strong="H4428" of the Hittites|strong="H2850", and the kings|strong="H4428" of the Egyptians|strong="H4714", to come|strong="H0935" upon us.

7 Wherefore they arose|strong="H6965" and fled|strong="H5127" in the twilight|strong="H5399", and left|strong="H5800" their tents|strong="H0168", and their horses|strong="H5483", and their asses|strong="H2543", even the camp|strong="H4264" as it was, and fled|strong="H5127" for their life|strong="H5315".

8 And when these lepers|strong="H6879" came|strong="H0935" to the uttermost part|strong="H7097" of the camp|strong="H4264", they went|strong="H0935" into one|strong="H0259" tent|strong="H0168", and did eat|strong="H0398" and drink|strong="H8354", and carried|strong="H5375" thence silver|strong="H3701", and gold|strong="H2091", and raiment|strong="H0899", and went|strong="H3212" and hid|strong="H2934" it; and came again|strong="H7725", and entered|strong="H0935" into another|strong="H0312" tent|strong="H0168", and carried|strong="H5375" thence also, and went|strong="H3212" and hid|strong="H2934" it.

9 Then they said|strong="H0559" one|strong="H0376" to another|strong="H7453", We do|strong="H6213" not well: this day|strong="H3117" is a day|strong="H3117" of good tidings|strong="H1309", and we hold our peace|strong="H2814": if we tarry|strong="H2442" till the morning|strong="H1242" light|strong="H0216", some mischief|strong="H5771" will come|strong="H4672" upon us: now therefore come|strong="H3212", that we may go|strong="H0935" and tell|strong="H5046" the king’s|strong="H4428" household|strong="H1004".

10 So they came|strong="H0935" and called|strong="H7121" unto the porter|strong="H7778" of the city|strong="H5892": and they told|strong="H5046" them, saying|strong="H0559", We came|strong="H0935" to the camp|strong="H4264" of the Syrians|strong="H0758", and, behold, there was no man|strong="H0376" there, neither voice|strong="H6963" of man|strong="H0120", but horses|strong="H5483" tied|strong="H0631", and asses|strong="H2543" tied|strong="H0631", and the tents|strong="H0168" as they were.

11 And he called|strong="H7121" the porters|strong="H7778"; and they told|strong="H5046" it to the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004" within|strong="H6441".

12 And the king|strong="H4428" arose|strong="H6965" in the night|strong="H3915", and said|strong="H0559" unto his servants|strong="H5650", I will now shew|strong="H5046" you what the Syrians|strong="H0758" have done|strong="H6213" to us. They know|strong="H3045" that we be hungry|strong="H7457"; therefore are they gone out|strong="H3318" of the camp|strong="H4264" to hide|strong="H2247" themselves in the field|strong="H7704", saying|strong="H0559", When they come out|strong="H3318" of the city|strong="H5892", we shall catch|strong="H8610" them alive|strong="H2416", and get|strong="H0935" into the city|strong="H5892".

13 And one|strong="H0259" of his servants|strong="H5650" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559", Let some take|strong="H3947", I pray thee, five|strong="H2568" of the horses|strong="H5483" that remain|strong="H7604", which are left|strong="H7604" in the city, (behold, they are as all the multitude|strong="H1995" of Israel|strong="H3478" that are left|strong="H7604" in it: behold, I say, they are even as all the multitude|strong="H1995" of the Israelites|strong="H3478" that are consumed|strong="H8552":) and let us send|strong="H7971" and see|strong="H7200".

14 They took|strong="H3947" therefore two|strong="H8147" chariot|strong="H7393" horses|strong="H5483"; and the king|strong="H4428" sent|strong="H7971" after|strong="H0310" the host|strong="H4264" of the Syrians|strong="H0758", saying|strong="H0559", Go|strong="H3212" and see|strong="H7200".

15 And they went|strong="H3212" after|strong="H0310" them unto Jordan|strong="H3383": and, lo, all the way|strong="H1870" was full|strong="H4392" of garments|strong="H0899" and vessels|strong="H3627", which the Syrians|strong="H0758" had cast away|strong="H7993" in their haste|strong="H2648". And the messengers|strong="H4397" returned|strong="H7725", and told|strong="H5046" the king|strong="H4428".

16 And the people|strong="H5971" went out|strong="H3318", and spoiled|strong="H0962" the tents|strong="H4264" of the Syrians|strong="H0758". So a measure|strong="H5429" of fine flour|strong="H5560" was sold for a shekel|strong="H8255", and two measures|strong="H5429" of barley|strong="H8184" for a shekel|strong="H8255", according to the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.

17 And the king|strong="H4428" appointed|strong="H6485" the lord|strong="H7991" on whose hand|strong="H3027" he leaned|strong="H8172" to have the charge of the gate|strong="H8179": and the people|strong="H5971" trode|strong="H7429" upon him in the gate|strong="H8179", and he died|strong="H4191", as the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" had said|strong="H1696", who spake|strong="H1696" when the king|strong="H4428" came down|strong="H3381" to him.

18 And it came to pass as the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430" had spoken|strong="H1696" to the king|strong="H4428", saying|strong="H0559", Two measures|strong="H5429" of barley|strong="H8184" for a shekel|strong="H8255", and a measure|strong="H5429" of fine flour|strong="H5560" for a shekel|strong="H8255", shall be to morrow|strong="H4279" about this time|strong="H6256" in the gate|strong="H8179" of Samaria|strong="H8111":

19 And that lord|strong="H7991" answered|strong="H6030" the man|strong="H0376" of God|strong="H0430", and said|strong="H0559", Now, behold, if the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* should make|strong="H6213" windows|strong="H0699" in heaven|strong="H8064", might such a thing|strong="H1697" be? And he said|strong="H0559", Behold, thou shalt see|strong="H7200" it with thine eyes|strong="H5869", but shalt not eat|strong="H0398" thereof.

20 And so it fell out unto him: for the people|strong="H5971" trode|strong="H7429" upon him in the gate|strong="H8179", and he died|strong="H4191".
