1 In the seventh|strong="H7651" year|strong="H8141" of Jehu|strong="H3058" Jehoash|strong="H3060" began to reign|strong="H4427"; and forty|strong="H0705" years|strong="H8141" reigned|strong="H4427" he in Jerusalem|strong="H3389". And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Zibiah|strong="H6645" of Beer-sheba|strong="H0884".
2 And Jehoash|strong="H3060" did|strong="H6213" that which was right|strong="H3477" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* all his days|strong="H3117" wherein Jehoiada|strong="H3077" the priest|strong="H3548" instructed|strong="H3384" him.
3 But the high places|strong="H1116" were not taken away|strong="H5493": the people|strong="H5971" still sacrificed|strong="H2076" and burnt incense|strong="H6999" in the high places|strong="H1116".
4 And Jehoash|strong="H3060" said|strong="H0559" to the priests|strong="H3548", All the money|strong="H3701" of the dedicated things|strong="H6944" that is brought|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, even the money|strong="H3701" of every one|strong="H0376" that passeth|strong="H5674" the account, the money|strong="H3701" that every man|strong="H5315" is set at|strong="H6187", and all the money|strong="H3701" that cometh|strong="H5927" into any man’s|strong="H0376" heart|strong="H3820" to bring|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*,
5 Let the priests|strong="H3548" take|strong="H3947" it to them, every man|strong="H0376" of his acquaintance|strong="H4378": and let them repair|strong="H2388" the breaches|strong="H0919" of the house|strong="H1004", wheresoever any breach|strong="H0919" shall be found|strong="H4672".
6 But it was so, that in the three|strong="H7969" and twentieth|strong="H6242" year|strong="H8141" of king|strong="H4428" Jehoash|strong="H3060" the priests|strong="H3548" had not repaired|strong="H2388" the breaches|strong="H0919" of the house|strong="H1004".
7 Then king|strong="H4428" Jehoash|strong="H3060" called|strong="H7121" for Jehoiada|strong="H3077" the priest|strong="H3548", and the other priests|strong="H3548", and said|strong="H0559" unto them, Why repair|strong="H2388" ye not the breaches|strong="H0919" of the house|strong="H1004"? now therefore receive|strong="H3947" no more money|strong="H3701" of your acquaintance|strong="H4378", but deliver|strong="H5414" it for the breaches|strong="H0919" of the house|strong="H1004".
8 And the priests|strong="H3548" consented|strong="H0225" to receive|strong="H3947" no|strong="H1115" more money|strong="H3701" of the people|strong="H5971", neither|strong="H1115" to repair|strong="H2388" the breaches|strong="H0919" of the house|strong="H1004".
9 But Jehoiada|strong="H3077" the priest|strong="H3548" took|strong="H3947" a|strong="H0259" chest|strong="H0727", and bored|strong="H5344" a hole|strong="H2356" in the lid|strong="H1817" of it, and set|strong="H5414" it beside|strong="H0681" the altar|strong="H4196", on the right side|strong="H3225" as one|strong="H0376" cometh|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and the priests|strong="H3548" that kept|strong="H8104" the door|strong="H5592" put|strong="H5414" therein all the money|strong="H3701" that was brought|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
10 And it was so, when they saw|strong="H7200" that there was much|strong="H7227" money|strong="H3701" in the chest|strong="H0727", that the king’s|strong="H4428" scribe|strong="H5608" and the high|strong="H1419" priest|strong="H3548" came up|strong="H5927", and they put up in bags|strong="H6696", and told|strong="H4487" the money|strong="H3701" that was found|strong="H4672" in the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
11 And they gave|strong="H5414" the money|strong="H3701", being told|strong="H8505", into the hands|strong="H3027" of them that did|strong="H6213" the work|strong="H4399", that had the oversight|strong="H6485" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: and they laid it out|strong="H3318" to the carpenters|strong="H2796" and builders|strong="H1129", that wrought|strong="H6213" upon the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*,
12 And to masons|strong="H1443", and hewers|strong="H2672" of stone|strong="H0068", and to buy|strong="H7069" timber|strong="H6086" and hewed|strong="H4274" stone|strong="H0068" to repair|strong="H2388" the breaches|strong="H0919" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and for all that was laid out|strong="H3318" for the house|strong="H1004" to repair|strong="H2394" it.
13 Howbeit there were not made|strong="H6213" for the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* bowls|strong="H5592" of silver|strong="H3701", snuffers|strong="H4212", basons|strong="H4219", trumpets|strong="H2689", any vessels|strong="H3627" of gold|strong="H2091", or vessels|strong="H3627" of silver|strong="H3701", of the money|strong="H3701" that was brought|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*:
14 But they gave|strong="H5414" that to the workmen|strong="H4399", and repaired|strong="H2388" therewith the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
15 Moreover they reckoned|strong="H2803" not with the men|strong="H0582", into whose hand|strong="H3027" they delivered|strong="H5414" the money|strong="H3701" to be bestowed|strong="H5414" on workmen|strong="H4399": for they dealt|strong="H6213" faithfully|strong="H0530".
16 The trespass|strong="H0817" money|strong="H3701" and sin|strong="H2403" money|strong="H3701" was not brought|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*: it was the priests’|strong="H3548".
17 Then Hazael|strong="H2371" king|strong="H4428" of Syria|strong="H0758" went up|strong="H5927", and fought|strong="H3898" against Gath|strong="H1661", and took|strong="H3920" it: and Hazael|strong="H2371" set|strong="H7760" his face|strong="H6440" to go up|strong="H5927" to Jerusalem|strong="H3389".
18 And Jehoash|strong="H3060" king|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063" took|strong="H3947" all the hallowed things|strong="H6944" that Jehoshaphat|strong="H3092", and Jehoram|strong="H3088", and Ahaziah|strong="H0274", his fathers|strong="H0001", kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063", had dedicated|strong="H6942", and his own hallowed things|strong="H6944", and all the gold|strong="H2091" that was found|strong="H4672" in the treasures|strong="H0214" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and in the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004", and sent|strong="H7971" it to Hazael|strong="H2371" king|strong="H4428" of Syria|strong="H0758": and he went away|strong="H5927" from Jerusalem|strong="H3389".
19 And the rest|strong="H3499" of the acts|strong="H1697" of Joash|strong="H3101", and all that he did|strong="H6213", are they not written|strong="H3789" in the book|strong="H5612" of the chronicles|strong="H1697" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063"?
20 And his servants|strong="H5650" arose|strong="H6965", and made|strong="H7194" a conspiracy|strong="H7195", and slew|strong="H5221" Joash|strong="H3101" in the house|strong="H1004" of Millo|strong="H4407", which goeth down|strong="H3381" to Silla|strong="H5538".
21 For Jozachar|strong="H3108" the son|strong="H1121" of Shimeath|strong="H8100", and Jehozabad|strong="H3075" the son|strong="H1121" of Shomer|strong="H7763", his servants|strong="H5650", smote|strong="H5221" him, and he died|strong="H4191"; and they buried|strong="H6912" him with his fathers|strong="H0001" in the city|strong="H5892" of David|strong="H1732": and Amaziah|strong="H0558" his son|strong="H1121" reigned|strong="H4427" in his stead.
