1 And when Athaliah|strong="H6271" the mother|strong="H0517" of Ahaziah|strong="H0274" saw|strong="H7200" that her son|strong="H1121" was dead|strong="H4191", she arose|strong="H6965" and destroyed|strong="H0006" all the seed|strong="H2233" royal|strong="H4467".
2 But Jehosheba|strong="H3089", the daughter|strong="H1323" of king|strong="H4428" Joram|strong="H3141", sister|strong="H0269" of Ahaziah|strong="H0274", took|strong="H3947" Joash|strong="H3101" the son|strong="H1121" of Ahaziah|strong="H0274", and stole|strong="H1589" him from among|strong="H8432" the king’s|strong="H4428" sons|strong="H1121" which were slain|strong="H4191"; and they hid|strong="H5641" him, even him and his nurse|strong="H3243", in the bedchamber|strong="H2315" from|strong="H6440" Athaliah|strong="H6271", so that he was not slain|strong="H4191".
3 And he was with her hid|strong="H2244" in the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* six|strong="H8337" years|strong="H8141". And Athaliah|strong="H6271" did reign|strong="H4427" over the land|strong="H0776".
4 And the seventh|strong="H7637" year|strong="H8141" Jehoiada|strong="H3077" sent|strong="H7971" and fetched|strong="H3947" the rulers|strong="H8269" over hundreds|strong="H3967", with the captains|strong="H3746" and the guard|strong="H7323", and brought|strong="H0935" them to him into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and made|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" with them, and took an oath|strong="H7650" of them in the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and shewed|strong="H7200" them the king’s|strong="H4428" son|strong="H1121".
5 And he commanded|strong="H6680" them, saying|strong="H0559", This is the thing|strong="H1697" that ye shall do|strong="H6213"; A third part|strong="H7992" of you that enter in|strong="H0935" on the sabbath|strong="H7676" shall even be keepers|strong="H8104" of the watch|strong="H4931" of the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004";
6 And a third part|strong="H7992" shall be at the gate|strong="H8179" of Sur|strong="H5495"; and a third part|strong="H7992" at the gate|strong="H8179" behind|strong="H0310" the guard|strong="H7323": so shall ye keep|strong="H8104" the watch|strong="H4931" of the house|strong="H1004", that it be not broken down|strong="H4535".
7 And two|strong="H8147" parts|strong="H3027" of all you that go forth|strong="H3318" on the sabbath|strong="H7676", even they shall keep|strong="H8104" the watch|strong="H4931" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* about|strong="H0413" the king|strong="H4428".
8 And ye shall compass|strong="H5362" the king|strong="H4428" round about|strong="H5439", every man|strong="H0376" with his weapons|strong="H3627" in his hand|strong="H3027": and he that cometh|strong="H0935" within the ranges|strong="H7713", let him be slain|strong="H4191": and be ye with the king|strong="H4428" as he goeth out|strong="H3318" and as he cometh in|strong="H0935".
9 And the captains|strong="H8269" over the hundreds|strong="H3967" did|strong="H6213" according to all things that Jehoiada|strong="H3077" the priest|strong="H3548" commanded|strong="H6680": and they took|strong="H3947" every man|strong="H0376" his men|strong="H0582" that were to come in|strong="H0935" on the sabbath|strong="H7676", with them that should go out|strong="H3318" on the sabbath|strong="H7676", and came|strong="H0935" to Jehoiada|strong="H3077" the priest|strong="H3548".
10 And to the captains|strong="H8269" over hundreds|strong="H3967" did the priest|strong="H3548" give|strong="H5414" king|strong="H4428" David’s|strong="H1732" spears|strong="H2595" and shields|strong="H7982", that were in the temple|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
11 And the guard|strong="H7323" stood|strong="H5975", every man|strong="H0376" with his weapons|strong="H3627" in his hand|strong="H3027", round about|strong="H5439" the king|strong="H4428", from the right|strong="H3233" corner|strong="H3802" of the temple|strong="H1004" to the left|strong="H8042" corner|strong="H3802" of the temple|strong="H1004", along by the altar|strong="H4196" and the temple|strong="H1004".
12 And he brought forth|strong="H3318" the king’s|strong="H4428" son|strong="H1121", and put|strong="H5414" the crown|strong="H5145" upon him, and gave him the testimony|strong="H5715"; and they made him king|strong="H4427", and anointed|strong="H4886" him; and they clapped|strong="H5221" their hands|strong="H3709", and said|strong="H0559", God save|strong="H2421" the king|strong="H4428".
13 And when Athaliah|strong="H6271" heard|strong="H8085" the noise|strong="H6963" of the guard|strong="H7323" and of the people|strong="H5971", she came|strong="H0935" to the people|strong="H5971" into the temple|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
14 And when she looked|strong="H7200", behold, the king|strong="H4428" stood|strong="H5975" by a pillar|strong="H5982", as the manner|strong="H4941" was, and the princes|strong="H8269" and the trumpeters|strong="H2689" by the king|strong="H4428", and all the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776" rejoiced|strong="H8056", and blew|strong="H8628" with trumpets|strong="H2689": and Athaliah|strong="H6271" rent|strong="H7167" her clothes|strong="H0899", and cried|strong="H7121", Treason|strong="H7195", Treason|strong="H7195".
15 But Jehoiada|strong="H3077" the priest|strong="H3548" commanded|strong="H6680" the captains|strong="H8269" of the hundreds|strong="H3967", the officers|strong="H6485" of the host|strong="H2428", and said|strong="H0559" unto them, Have her forth|strong="H3318" without|strong="H1004" the ranges|strong="H7713": and him that followeth|strong="H0935" her kill|strong="H4191" with the sword|strong="H2719". For the priest|strong="H3548" had said|strong="H0559", Let her not be slain|strong="H4191" in the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
16 And they laid|strong="H7760" hands|strong="H3027" on her; and she went|strong="H0935" by the way|strong="H1870" by the which the horses|strong="H5483" came|strong="H3996" into the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004": and there was she slain|strong="H4191".
17 And Jehoiada|strong="H3077" made|strong="H3772" a covenant|strong="H1285" between the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* and the king|strong="H4428" and the people|strong="H5971", that they should be the \+w LORD’s|strong="H3068"\+w* people|strong="H5971"; between the king|strong="H4428" also and the people|strong="H5971".
18 And all the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776" went|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of Baal|strong="H1168", and brake it down|strong="H5422"; his altars|strong="H4196" and his images|strong="H6754" brake they in pieces|strong="H7665" thoroughly|strong="H3190", and slew|strong="H2026" Mattan|strong="H4977" the priest|strong="H3548" of Baal|strong="H1168" before|strong="H6440" the altars|strong="H4196". And the priest|strong="H3548" appointed|strong="H7760" officers|strong="H6485" over the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*.
19 And he took|strong="H3947" the rulers|strong="H8269" over hundreds|strong="H3967", and the captains|strong="H3746", and the guard|strong="H7323", and all the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776"; and they brought down|strong="H3381" the king|strong="H4428" from the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and came|strong="H0935" by the way|strong="H1870" of the gate|strong="H8179" of the guard|strong="H7323" to the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004". And he sat|strong="H3427" on the throne|strong="H3678" of the kings|strong="H4428".
20 And all the people|strong="H5971" of the land|strong="H0776" rejoiced|strong="H8055", and the city|strong="H5892" was in quiet|strong="H8252": and they slew|strong="H4191" Athaliah|strong="H6271" with the sword|strong="H2719" beside the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004".
21 Seven|strong="H7651" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" was Jehoash|strong="H3060" when he began to reign|strong="H4427".
