1 This|strong="G3778" second|strong="G1208" epistle|strong="G1992", beloved|strong="G0027", I|strong="G1125" now|strong="G2235" write|strong="G1125" unto you|strong="G5213"; in|strong="G1722" both which|strong="G3739" I stir up|strong="G1326" your|strong="G5216" pure|strong="G1506" minds|strong="G1271" by way of|strong="G1722" remembrance|strong="G5280":
2 That ye may be mindful|strong="G3415" of the words|strong="G4487" which were spoken before|strong="G4280" by|strong="G5259" the|strong="G4396" holy|strong="G0040" prophets|strong="G4396", and|strong="G2532" of the commandment|strong="G1785" of us|strong="G2257" the apostles|strong="G0652" of the Lord|strong="G2962" and|strong="G2532" Saviour|strong="G4990":
3 Knowing|strong="G1097" this|strong="G5124" first|strong="G4412", that|strong="G3754" there shall come|strong="G2064" in|strong="G1909" the|strong="G2250" last|strong="G2078" days|strong="G2250" scoffers|strong="G1703", walking|strong="G4198" after|strong="G2596" their|strong="G0846" own|strong="G2398" lusts|strong="G1939",
4 And|strong="G2532" saying|strong="G3004", Where|strong="G4226" is|strong="G2076" the promise|strong="G1860" of|strong="G3952" his|strong="G0846" coming|strong="G3952"? for|strong="G1063" since|strong="G0575" the fathers|strong="G3962" fell asleep|strong="G2837", all things|strong="G3956" continue|strong="G1265" as|strong="G3779" they were from|strong="G0575" the beginning|strong="G0746" of the creation|strong="G2937".
5 For|strong="G1063" this|strong="G5124" they|strong="G0846" willingly|strong="G2309" are ignorant of|strong="G2990", that|strong="G3754" by the word|strong="G3056" of God|strong="G2316" the heavens|strong="G3772" were|strong="G2258" of old|strong="G1597", and|strong="G2532" the earth|strong="G1093" standing|strong="G4921" out of|strong="G1537" the water|strong="G5204" and|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1223" the water|strong="G5204":
6 Whereby|strong="G1223" the world|strong="G2889" that then was|strong="G5119", being overflowed|strong="G2626" with water|strong="G5204", perished|strong="G0622":
7 But|strong="G1161" the heavens|strong="G3772" and|strong="G2532" the earth|strong="G1093", which are now|strong="G3568", by|strong="G3056" the same|strong="G0846" word|strong="G3056" are|strong="G1526" kept in store|strong="G2343", reserved|strong="G5083" unto fire|strong="G4442" against|strong="G1519" the day|strong="G2250" of judgment|strong="G2920" and|strong="G2532" perdition|strong="G0684" of|strong="G0444" ungodly|strong="G0765" men|strong="G0444".
8 But|strong="G1161", beloved|strong="G0027", be|strong="G2990" not|strong="G3361" ignorant of|strong="G2990" this|strong="G5124" one thing|strong="G1520", that|strong="G3754" one|strong="G1520" day|strong="G2250" is with|strong="G3844" the Lord|strong="G2962" as|strong="G5613" a thousand|strong="G5507" years|strong="G2094", and|strong="G2532" a thousand|strong="G5507" years|strong="G2094" as|strong="G5613" one|strong="G1520" day|strong="G2250".
9 The Lord|strong="G2962" is|strong="G1019" not|strong="G3756" slack|strong="G1019" concerning his promise|strong="G1860", as|strong="G5613" some men|strong="G5100" count|strong="G2233" slackness|strong="G1022"; but|strong="G0235" is longsuffering|strong="G3114" to|strong="G1519" us-ward|strong="G2248", not|strong="G3361" willing that|strong="G1014" any|strong="G5100" should perish|strong="G0622", but that|strong="G0235" all|strong="G3956" should come|strong="G5562" to|strong="G1519" repentance|strong="G3341".
10 But|strong="G1161" the day|strong="G2250" of the Lord|strong="G2962" will come|strong="G2240" as|strong="G5613" a thief|strong="G2812" in|strong="G1722" the night|strong="G3571"; in|strong="G1722" the which|strong="G3739" the heavens|strong="G3772" shall pass away|strong="G3928" with a great noise|strong="G4500", and|strong="G1161" the elements|strong="G4747" shall melt|strong="G3089" with fervent heat|strong="G2741", the earth|strong="G1093" also|strong="G2532" and|strong="G2532" the works|strong="G2041" that are|strong="G3588" therein|strong="G1722" shall be burned up|strong="G2618".
11 Seeing then|strong="G3767" that all|strong="G3956" these things|strong="G5130" shall be dissolved|strong="G3089", what manner|strong="G4217" of persons ought|strong="G1163" ye|strong="G5209" to be|strong="G5225" in|strong="G1722" all holy|strong="G0040" conversation|strong="G0391" and|strong="G2532" godliness|strong="G2150",
12 Looking for|strong="G4328" and|strong="G2532" hasting unto|strong="G4692" the coming|strong="G3952" of the day|strong="G2250" of God|strong="G2316", wherein|strong="G1223" the heavens|strong="G3772" being on fire|strong="G4448" shall be dissolved|strong="G3089", and|strong="G2532" the elements|strong="G4747" shall melt|strong="G5080" with fervent heat|strong="G2741"?
13 Nevertheless|strong="G1161" we|strong="G4328", according to|strong="G2596" his|strong="G0846" promise|strong="G1862", look for|strong="G4328" new|strong="G2537" heavens|strong="G3772" and|strong="G2532" a new|strong="G2537" earth|strong="G1093", wherein|strong="G1722" dwelleth|strong="G2730" righteousness|strong="G1343".
14 Wherefore|strong="G1352", beloved|strong="G0027", seeing that ye look for|strong="G4328" such things|strong="G5023", be diligent that|strong="G4704" ye may be found|strong="G2147" of him|strong="G0846" in|strong="G1722" peace|strong="G1515", without spot|strong="G0784", and|strong="G2532" blameless|strong="G0298".
15 And|strong="G2532" account|strong="G2233" that the longsuffering|strong="G3115" of|strong="G2962" our|strong="G2257" Lord|strong="G2962" is salvation|strong="G4991"; even as|strong="G2531" our|strong="G2257" beloved|strong="G0027" brother|strong="G0080" Paul|strong="G3972" also|strong="G2532" according to|strong="G2596" the wisdom|strong="G4678" given|strong="G1325" unto him|strong="G0846" hath written|strong="G1125" unto you|strong="G5213";
16 As|strong="G5613" also|strong="G2532" in|strong="G1722" all|strong="G3956" his epistles|strong="G1992", speaking|strong="G2980" in|strong="G1722" them|strong="G0846" of|strong="G4012" these things|strong="G5130"; in|strong="G1722" which|strong="G3739" are|strong="G2076" some things|strong="G5100" hard to be understood|strong="G1425", which|strong="G3739" they that are unlearned|strong="G0261" and|strong="G2532" unstable|strong="G0793" wrest|strong="G4761", as|strong="G5613" they do also|strong="G2532" the other|strong="G3062" scriptures|strong="G1124", unto|strong="G4314" their|strong="G0846" own|strong="G2398" destruction|strong="G0684".
17 Ye|strong="G5210" therefore|strong="G3767", beloved|strong="G0027", seeing ye know|strong="G4267" these things before|strong="G4267", beware|strong="G5442" lest|strong="G3361" ye also|strong="G1601", being led away|strong="G4879" with the error|strong="G4106" of the wicked|strong="G0113", fall|strong="G1601" from|strong="G4740" your own|strong="G2398" stedfastness|strong="G4740".
18 But|strong="G1161" grow|strong="G0837" in|strong="G1722" grace|strong="G5485", and|strong="G2532" in the knowledge|strong="G1108" of|strong="G2962" our|strong="G2257" Lord|strong="G2962" and|strong="G2532" Saviour|strong="G4990" Jesus|strong="G2424" Christ|strong="G5547". To him|strong="G0846" be glory|strong="G1391" both|strong="G2532" now|strong="G3568" and|strong="G2532" for|strong="G1519" ever|strong="G0165". Amen|strong="G0281".
