1 And Hiram|strong="H2438" king|strong="H4428" of Tyre|strong="H6865" sent|strong="H7971" his servants|strong="H5650" unto Solomon|strong="H8010"; for he had heard|strong="H8085" that they had anointed|strong="H4886" him king|strong="H4428" in the room of his father|strong="H0001": for Hiram|strong="H2438" was ever|strong="H3117" a lover|strong="H0157" of David|strong="H1732".
2 And Solomon|strong="H8010" sent|strong="H7971" to Hiram|strong="H2438", saying|strong="H0559",
3 Thou knowest|strong="H3045" how that David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001" could|strong="H3201" not build|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004" unto the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* his God|strong="H0430" for|strong="H6440" the wars|strong="H4421" which were about him on every side|strong="H5437", until the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* put|strong="H5414" them under the soles|strong="H3709" of his feet|strong="H7272".
4 But now the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* my God|strong="H0430" hath given me rest|strong="H5117" on every side|strong="H5439", so that there is neither adversary|strong="H7854" nor evil|strong="H7451" occurrent|strong="H6294".
5 And, behold, I purpose|strong="H0559" to build|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004" unto the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* my God|strong="H0430", as the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* spake|strong="H1696" unto David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001", saying|strong="H0559", Thy son|strong="H1121", whom I will set|strong="H5414" upon thy throne|strong="H3678" in thy room, he shall build|strong="H1129" an house|strong="H1004" unto my name|strong="H8034".
6 Now therefore command|strong="H6680" thou that they hew|strong="H3772" me cedar trees|strong="H0730" out of Lebanon|strong="H3844"; and my servants|strong="H5650" shall be with thy servants|strong="H5650": and unto thee will I give|strong="H5414" hire|strong="H7939" for thy servants|strong="H5650" according to all that thou shalt appoint|strong="H0559": for thou knowest|strong="H3045" that there is not among us any|strong="H0376" that can skill|strong="H3045" to hew|strong="H3772" timber|strong="H6086" like unto the Sidonians|strong="H6722".
7 And it came to pass, when Hiram|strong="H2438" heard|strong="H8085" the words|strong="H1697" of Solomon|strong="H8010", that he rejoiced|strong="H8055" greatly|strong="H3966", and said|strong="H0559", Blessed|strong="H1288" be the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* this day|strong="H3117", which hath given|strong="H5414" unto David|strong="H1732" a wise|strong="H2450" son|strong="H1121" over this great|strong="H7227" people|strong="H5971".
8 And Hiram|strong="H2438" sent|strong="H7971" to Solomon|strong="H8010", saying|strong="H0559", I have considered|strong="H8085" the things which thou sentest|strong="H7971" to me for: and I will do|strong="H6213" all thy desire|strong="H2656" concerning timber|strong="H6086" of cedar|strong="H0730", and concerning timber|strong="H6086" of fir|strong="H1265".
9 My servants|strong="H5650" shall bring them down|strong="H3381" from Lebanon|strong="H3844" unto the sea|strong="H3220": and I will convey|strong="H7760" them by sea|strong="H3220" in floats|strong="H1702" unto the place|strong="H4725" that thou shalt appoint|strong="H7971" me, and will cause them to be discharged|strong="H5310" there, and thou shalt receive|strong="H5375" them: and thou shalt accomplish|strong="H6213" my desire|strong="H2656", in giving|strong="H5414" food|strong="H3899" for my household|strong="H1004".
10 So Hiram|strong="H2438" gave|strong="H5414" Solomon|strong="H8010" cedar|strong="H0730" trees|strong="H6086" and fir|strong="H1265" trees|strong="H6086" according to all his desire|strong="H2656".
11 And Solomon|strong="H8010" gave|strong="H5414" Hiram|strong="H2438" twenty|strong="H6242" thousand|strong="H0505" measures|strong="H3734" of wheat|strong="H2406" for food|strong="H4361" to his household|strong="H1004", and twenty|strong="H6242" measures|strong="H3734" of pure|strong="H3795" oil|strong="H8081": thus gave|strong="H5414" Solomon|strong="H8010" to Hiram|strong="H2438" year|strong="H8141" by year|strong="H8141".
12 And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* gave|strong="H5414" Solomon|strong="H8010" wisdom|strong="H2451", as he promised|strong="H1696" him: and there was peace|strong="H7965" between Hiram|strong="H2438" and Solomon|strong="H8010"; and they two|strong="H8147" made|strong="H3772" a league|strong="H1285" together|strong="H8147".
13 And king|strong="H4428" Solomon|strong="H8010" raised|strong="H5927" a levy|strong="H4522" out of all Israel|strong="H3478"; and the levy|strong="H4522" was thirty|strong="H7970" thousand|strong="H0505" men|strong="H0376".
14 And he sent|strong="H7971" them to Lebanon|strong="H3844", ten|strong="H6235" thousand|strong="H0505" a month|strong="H2320" by courses|strong="H2487": a month|strong="H2320" they were in Lebanon|strong="H3844", and two|strong="H8147" months|strong="H2320" at home|strong="H1004": and Adoniram|strong="H0141" was over the levy|strong="H4522".
15 And Solomon|strong="H8010" had threescore and ten|strong="H7657" thousand|strong="H0505" that bare|strong="H5375" burdens|strong="H5449", and fourscore|strong="H8084" thousand|strong="H0505" hewers|strong="H2672" in the mountains|strong="H2022";
16 Beside the chief|strong="H8269" of Solomon’s|strong="H8010" officers|strong="H5324" which were over the work|strong="H4399", three|strong="H7969" thousand|strong="H0505" and three|strong="H7969" hundred|strong="H3967", which ruled|strong="H7287" over the people|strong="H5971" that wrought|strong="H6213" in the work|strong="H4399".
17 And the king|strong="H4428" commanded|strong="H6680", and they brought|strong="H5265" great|strong="H1419" stones|strong="H0068", costly|strong="H3368" stones|strong="H0068", and hewed|strong="H1496" stones|strong="H0068", to lay the foundation|strong="H3245" of the house|strong="H1004".
18 And Solomon’s|strong="H8010" builders|strong="H1129" and Hiram’s|strong="H2438" builders|strong="H1129" did hew|strong="H6458" them, and the stonesquarers|strong="H1382": so they prepared|strong="H3559" timber|strong="H6086" and stones|strong="H0068" to build|strong="H1129" the house|strong="H1004".
