Reis 3

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

And Solomon|strong="H8010" made affinity|strong="H2859" with Pharaoh|strong="H6547" king|strong="H4428" of Egypt|strong="H4714", and took|strong="H3947" Pharaoh’s|strong="H6547" daughter|strong="H1323", and brought|strong="H0935" her into the city|strong="H5892" of David|strong="H1732", until he had made an end|strong="H3615" of building|strong="H1129" his own house|strong="H1004", and the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and the wall|strong="H2346" of Jerusalem|strong="H3389" round about|strong="H5439".

Only the people|strong="H5971" sacrificed|strong="H2076" in high places|strong="H1116", because there was no house|strong="H1004" built|strong="H1129" unto the name|strong="H8034" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, until those days|strong="H3117".

And Solomon|strong="H8010" loved|strong="H0157" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, walking|strong="H3212" in the statutes|strong="H2708" of David|strong="H1732" his father|strong="H0001": only he sacrificed|strong="H2076" and burnt incense|strong="H6999" in high places|strong="H1116".

And the king|strong="H4428" went|strong="H3212" to Gibeon|strong="H1391" to sacrifice|strong="H2076" there; for that|strong="H1931" was the great|strong="H1419" high place|strong="H1116": a thousand|strong="H0505" burnt offerings|strong="H5930" did Solomon|strong="H8010" offer|strong="H5927" upon that altar|strong="H4196".

In Gibeon|strong="H1391" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* appeared|strong="H7200" to Solomon|strong="H8010" in a dream|strong="H2472" by night|strong="H3915": and God|strong="H0430" said|strong="H0559", Ask|strong="H7592" what I shall give|strong="H5414" thee.

And Solomon|strong="H8010" said|strong="H0559", Thou hast shewed|strong="H6213" unto thy servant|strong="H5650" David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001" great|strong="H1419" mercy|strong="H2617", according as he walked|strong="H1980" before|strong="H6440" thee in truth|strong="H0571", and in righteousness|strong="H6666", and in uprightness|strong="H3483" of heart|strong="H3824" with thee; and thou hast kept|strong="H8104" for him this great|strong="H1419" kindness|strong="H2617", that thou hast given|strong="H5414" him a son|strong="H1121" to sit|strong="H3427" on his throne|strong="H3678", as it is this day|strong="H3117".

And now, O \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* my God|strong="H0430", thou hast made thy servant|strong="H5650" king|strong="H4427" instead of David|strong="H1732" my father|strong="H0001": and I am but a little|strong="H6996" child|strong="H5288": I know|strong="H3045" not how to go out|strong="H3318" or come in|strong="H0935".

And thy servant|strong="H5650" is in the midst|strong="H8432" of thy people|strong="H5971" which thou hast chosen|strong="H0977", a great|strong="H7227" people|strong="H5971", that cannot be numbered|strong="H4487" nor counted|strong="H5608" for multitude|strong="H7230".

Give|strong="H5414" therefore thy servant|strong="H5650" an understanding|strong="H8085" heart|strong="H3820" to judge|strong="H8199" thy people|strong="H5971", that I may discern|strong="H0995" between good|strong="H2896" and bad|strong="H7451": for who is able|strong="H3201" to judge|strong="H8199" this thy so great|strong="H3515" a people|strong="H5971"?

And the speech|strong="H1697" pleased|strong="H3190" the Lord|strong="H0136", that Solomon|strong="H8010" had asked|strong="H7592" this thing|strong="H1697".

And God|strong="H0430" said|strong="H0559" unto him, Because thou hast asked|strong="H7592" this thing|strong="H1697", and hast not asked|strong="H7592" for thyself long|strong="H7227" life|strong="H3117"; neither hast asked|strong="H7592" riches|strong="H6239" for thyself, nor hast asked|strong="H7592" the life|strong="H5315" of thine enemies|strong="H0341"; but hast asked|strong="H7592" for thyself understanding|strong="H0995" to discern|strong="H8085" judgment|strong="H4941";

Behold, I have done|strong="H6213" according to thy words|strong="H1697": lo, I have given|strong="H5414" thee a wise|strong="H2450" and an understanding|strong="H0995" heart|strong="H3820"; so that there was none like thee before|strong="H6440" thee, neither after|strong="H0310" thee shall any arise|strong="H6965" like unto thee.

And I have also given|strong="H5414" thee that which thou hast not asked|strong="H7592", both riches|strong="H6239", and honour|strong="H3519": so that there shall not be any|strong="H0376" among the kings|strong="H4428" like unto thee all thy days|strong="H3117".

And if thou wilt walk|strong="H3212" in my ways|strong="H1870", to keep|strong="H8104" my statutes|strong="H2706" and my commandments|strong="H4687", as thy father|strong="H0001" David|strong="H1732" did walk|strong="H1980", then I will lengthen|strong="H0748" thy days|strong="H3117".

And Solomon|strong="H8010" awoke|strong="H3364"; and, behold, it was a dream|strong="H2472". And he came|strong="H0935" to Jerusalem|strong="H3389", and stood|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" the ark|strong="H0727" of the covenant|strong="H1285" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and offered up|strong="H5927" burnt offerings|strong="H5930", and offered|strong="H6213" peace offerings|strong="H8002", and made|strong="H6213" a feast|strong="H4960" to all his servants|strong="H5650".

Then came|strong="H0935" there two|strong="H8147" women|strong="H0802", that were harlots|strong="H2181", unto the king|strong="H4428", and stood|strong="H5975" before|strong="H6440" him.

And the one|strong="H0259" woman|strong="H0802" said|strong="H0559", O|strong="H0994" my lord|strong="H0113", I and this woman|strong="H0802" dwell|strong="H3427" in one|strong="H0259" house|strong="H1004"; and I was delivered of a child|strong="H3205" with her in the house|strong="H1004".

And it came to pass the third|strong="H7992" day|strong="H3117" after that I was delivered|strong="H3205", that this woman|strong="H0802" was delivered|strong="H3205" also: and we were together|strong="H3162"; there was no stranger|strong="H2114" with us in the house|strong="H1004", save|strong="H2108" we two|strong="H8147" in the house|strong="H1004".

And this woman’s|strong="H0802" child|strong="H1121" died|strong="H4191" in the night|strong="H3915"; because she overlaid|strong="H7901" it.

And she arose|strong="H6965" at midnight|strong="H8432", and took|strong="H3947" my son|strong="H1121" from beside|strong="H0681" me, while thine handmaid|strong="H0519" slept|strong="H3463", and laid|strong="H7901" it in her bosom|strong="H2436", and laid|strong="H7901" her dead|strong="H4191" child|strong="H1121" in my bosom|strong="H2436".

And when I rose|strong="H6965" in the morning|strong="H1242" to give my child|strong="H1121" suck|strong="H3243", behold, it was dead|strong="H4191": but when I had considered|strong="H0995" it in the morning|strong="H1242", behold, it was not my son|strong="H1121", which I did bear|strong="H3205".

And the other|strong="H0312" woman|strong="H0802" said|strong="H0559", Nay; but the living|strong="H2416" is my son|strong="H1121", and the dead|strong="H4191" is thy son|strong="H1121". And this said|strong="H0559", No; but the dead|strong="H4191" is thy son|strong="H1121", and the living|strong="H2416" is my son|strong="H1121". Thus they spake|strong="H1696" before|strong="H6440" the king|strong="H4428".

Then said|strong="H0559" the king|strong="H4428", The one|strong="H2063" saith|strong="H0559", This is my son|strong="H1121" that liveth|strong="H2416", and thy son|strong="H1121" is the dead|strong="H4191": and the other|strong="H2063" saith|strong="H0559", Nay; but thy son|strong="H1121" is the dead|strong="H4191", and my son|strong="H1121" is the living|strong="H2416".

And the king|strong="H4428" said|strong="H0559", Bring|strong="H3947" me a sword|strong="H2719". And they brought|strong="H0935" a sword|strong="H2719" before|strong="H6440" the king|strong="H4428".

And the king|strong="H4428" said|strong="H0559", Divide|strong="H1504" the living|strong="H2416" child|strong="H3206" in two|strong="H8147", and give|strong="H5414" half|strong="H2677" to the one|strong="H0259", and half|strong="H2677" to the other|strong="H0259".

Then spake|strong="H0559" the woman|strong="H0802" whose the living|strong="H2416" child|strong="H1121" was unto the king|strong="H4428", for her bowels|strong="H7356" yearned|strong="H3648" upon her son|strong="H1121", and she said|strong="H0559", O|strong="H0994" my lord|strong="H0113", give|strong="H5414" her the living|strong="H2416" child|strong="H3205", and in no wise|strong="H4191" slay|strong="H4191" it. But the other said|strong="H0559", Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide|strong="H1504" it.

Then the king|strong="H4428" answered|strong="H6030" and said|strong="H0559", Give|strong="H5414" her the living|strong="H2416" child|strong="H3205", and in no wise|strong="H4191" slay|strong="H4191" it: she is the mother|strong="H0517" thereof.

And all Israel|strong="H3478" heard|strong="H8085" of the judgment|strong="H4941" which the king|strong="H4428" had judged|strong="H8199"; and they feared|strong="H3372" the king|strong="H6440": for they saw|strong="H7200" that the wisdom|strong="H2451" of God|strong="H0430" was in him|strong="H7130", to do|strong="H6213" judgment|strong="H4941".
