Reis 14

King James (Authorized) Version (ENG-KJV2006)

At that time|strong="H6256" Abijah|strong="H0029" the son|strong="H1121" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379" fell sick|strong="H2470".

And Jeroboam|strong="H3379" said|strong="H0559" to his wife|strong="H0802", Arise|strong="H6965", I pray thee, and disguise|strong="H8138" thyself, that thou be not known|strong="H3045" to be the wife|strong="H0802" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379"; and get|strong="H1980" thee to Shiloh|strong="H7887": behold, there is Ahijah|strong="H0281" the prophet|strong="H5030", which told|strong="H1696" me that I should be king|strong="H4428" over this people|strong="H5971".

And take|strong="H3947" with thee|strong="H3027" ten|strong="H6235" loaves|strong="H3899", and cracknels|strong="H5350", and a cruse|strong="H1228" of honey|strong="H1706", and go|strong="H0935" to him: he shall tell|strong="H5046" thee what shall become of the child|strong="H5288".

And Jeroboam’s|strong="H3379" wife|strong="H0802" did so|strong="H6213", and arose|strong="H6965", and went|strong="H3212" to Shiloh|strong="H7887", and came|strong="H0935" to the house|strong="H1004" of Ahijah|strong="H0281". But Ahijah|strong="H0281" could|strong="H3201" not see|strong="H7200"; for his eyes|strong="H5869" were set|strong="H6965" by reason of his age|strong="H7869".

And the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* said|strong="H0559" unto Ahijah|strong="H0281", Behold, the wife|strong="H0802" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379" cometh|strong="H0935" to ask|strong="H1875" a thing|strong="H1697" of thee for her son|strong="H1121"; for he is sick|strong="H2470": thus|strong="H2090" and thus shalt thou say|strong="H1696" unto her: for it shall be, when she cometh in|strong="H0935", that she shall feign herself to be another|strong="H5234" woman.

And it was so, when Ahijah|strong="H0281" heard|strong="H8085" the sound|strong="H6963" of her feet|strong="H7272", as she came in|strong="H0935" at the door|strong="H6607", that he said|strong="H0559", Come in|strong="H0935", thou wife|strong="H0802" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379"; why feignest thou thyself to be another|strong="H5234"? for I am sent|strong="H7971" to thee with heavy|strong="H7186" tidings.

Go|strong="H3212", tell|strong="H0559" Jeroboam|strong="H3379", Thus saith|strong="H0559" the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478", Forasmuch as|strong="H3282" I exalted|strong="H7311" thee from among|strong="H8432" the people|strong="H5971", and made|strong="H5414" thee prince|strong="H5057" over my people|strong="H5971" Israel|strong="H3478",

And rent|strong="H7167" the kingdom|strong="H4467" away|strong="H7167" from the house|strong="H1004" of David|strong="H1732", and gave|strong="H5414" it thee: and yet thou hast not been as my servant|strong="H5650" David|strong="H1732", who kept|strong="H8104" my commandments|strong="H4687", and who followed|strong="H1980" me with all his heart|strong="H3824", to do|strong="H6213" that only which was right|strong="H3477" in mine eyes|strong="H5869";

But hast done|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7489" above all that were before|strong="H6440" thee: for thou hast gone|strong="H3212" and made|strong="H6213" thee other|strong="H0312" gods|strong="H0430", and molten images|strong="H4541", to provoke me to anger|strong="H3707", and hast cast|strong="H7993" me behind|strong="H0310" thy back|strong="H1458":

Therefore, behold, I will bring|strong="H0935" evil|strong="H7451" upon the house|strong="H1004" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379", and will cut off|strong="H3772" from Jeroboam|strong="H3379" him that pisseth|strong="H8366" against the wall|strong="H7023", and him that is shut up|strong="H6113" and left|strong="H5800" in Israel|strong="H3478", and will take away|strong="H1197" the remnant|strong="H0310" of the house|strong="H1004" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379", as a man taketh away|strong="H1197" dung|strong="H1557", till it be all gone|strong="H8552".

Him that dieth|strong="H4191" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379" in the city|strong="H5892" shall the dogs|strong="H3611" eat|strong="H0398"; and him that dieth|strong="H4191" in the field|strong="H7704" shall the fowls|strong="H5775" of the air|strong="H8064" eat|strong="H0398": for the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* hath spoken|strong="H1696" it.

Arise|strong="H6965" thou therefore, get|strong="H3212" thee to thine own house|strong="H1004": and when thy feet|strong="H7272" enter|strong="H0935" into the city|strong="H5892", the child|strong="H3206" shall die|strong="H4191".

And all Israel|strong="H3478" shall mourn|strong="H5594" for him, and bury|strong="H6912" him: for he only of Jeroboam|strong="H3379" shall come|strong="H0935" to the grave|strong="H6913", because in him there is found|strong="H4672" some good|strong="H2896" thing|strong="H1697" toward the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* God|strong="H0430" of Israel|strong="H3478" in the house|strong="H1004" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379".

Moreover the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* shall raise him up|strong="H6965" a king|strong="H4428" over Israel|strong="H3478", who shall cut off|strong="H3772" the house|strong="H1004" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379" that day|strong="H3117": but what? even now.

For the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* shall smite|strong="H5221" Israel|strong="H3478", as a reed|strong="H7070" is shaken|strong="H5110" in the water|strong="H4325", and he shall root up|strong="H5428" Israel|strong="H3478" out of this good|strong="H2896" land|strong="H0127", which he gave|strong="H5414" to their fathers|strong="H0001", and shall scatter|strong="H2219" them beyond|strong="H5676" the river|strong="H5104", because they have made|strong="H6213" their groves|strong="H0842", provoking the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* to anger|strong="H3707".

And he shall give|strong="H5414" Israel|strong="H3478" up|strong="H5414" because|strong="H1558" of the sins|strong="H2403" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379", who did sin|strong="H2398", and who made Israel|strong="H3478" to sin|strong="H2398".

And Jeroboam’s|strong="H3379" wife|strong="H0802" arose|strong="H6965", and departed|strong="H3212", and came|strong="H0935" to Tirzah|strong="H8656": and when she came|strong="H0935" to the threshold|strong="H5592" of the door|strong="H1004", the child|strong="H5288" died|strong="H4191";

And they buried|strong="H6912" him; and all Israel|strong="H3478" mourned|strong="H5594" for him, according to the word|strong="H1697" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, which he spake|strong="H1696" by the hand|strong="H3027" of his servant|strong="H5650" Ahijah|strong="H0281" the prophet|strong="H5030".

And the rest|strong="H3499" of the acts|strong="H1697" of Jeroboam|strong="H3379", how he warred|strong="H3898", and how he reigned|strong="H4427", behold, they are written|strong="H3789" in the book|strong="H5612" of the chronicles|strong="H1697" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Israel|strong="H3478".

And the days|strong="H3117" which Jeroboam|strong="H3379" reigned|strong="H4427" were two|strong="H8147" and twenty|strong="H6242" years|strong="H8141": and he slept|strong="H7901" with his fathers|strong="H0001", and Nadab|strong="H5070" his son|strong="H1121" reigned|strong="H4427" in his stead.

And Rehoboam|strong="H7346" the son|strong="H1121" of Solomon|strong="H8010" reigned|strong="H4427" in Judah|strong="H3063". Rehoboam|strong="H7346" was forty|strong="H0705" and one|strong="H0259" years|strong="H8141" old|strong="H1121" when he began to reign|strong="H4427", and he reigned|strong="H4427" seventeen|strong="H7651" years|strong="H8141" in Jerusalem|strong="H3389", the city|strong="H5892" which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* did choose|strong="H0977" out of all the tribes|strong="H7626" of Israel|strong="H3478", to put|strong="H7760" his name|strong="H8034" there. And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Naamah|strong="H5279" an Ammonitess|strong="H5985".

And Judah|strong="H3063" did|strong="H6213" evil|strong="H7451" in the sight|strong="H5869" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and they provoked him to jealousy|strong="H7065" with their sins|strong="H2403" which they had committed|strong="H2398", above all that their fathers|strong="H0001" had done|strong="H6213".

For they also built|strong="H1129" them high places|strong="H1116", and images|strong="H4676", and groves|strong="H0842", on every high|strong="H1364" hill|strong="H1389", and under every green|strong="H7488" tree|strong="H6086".

And there were also sodomites|strong="H6945" in the land|strong="H0776": and they did|strong="H6213" according to all the abominations|strong="H8441" of the nations|strong="H1471" which the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w* cast out|strong="H3423" before|strong="H6440" the children|strong="H1121" of Israel|strong="H3478".

And it came to pass in the fifth|strong="H2549" year|strong="H8141" of king|strong="H4428" Rehoboam|strong="H7346", that Shishak|strong="H7895" king|strong="H4428" of Egypt|strong="H4714" came up|strong="H5927" against Jerusalem|strong="H3389":

And he took away|strong="H3947" the treasures|strong="H0214" of the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, and the treasures|strong="H0214" of the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004"; he even took away|strong="H3947" all: and he took away|strong="H3947" all the shields|strong="H4043" of gold|strong="H2091" which Solomon|strong="H8010" had made|strong="H6213".

And king|strong="H4428" Rehoboam|strong="H7346" made|strong="H6213" in their stead brasen|strong="H5178" shields|strong="H4043", and committed|strong="H6485" them unto the hands|strong="H3027" of the chief|strong="H8269" of the guard|strong="H7323", which kept|strong="H8104" the door|strong="H6607" of the king’s|strong="H4428" house|strong="H1004".

And it was so, when|strong="H1767" the king|strong="H4428" went|strong="H0935" into the house|strong="H1004" of the \+w LORD|strong="H3068"\+w*, that the guard|strong="H7323" bare|strong="H5375" them, and brought them back|strong="H7725" into the guard|strong="H7323" chamber|strong="H8372".

Now the rest|strong="H3499" of the acts|strong="H1697" of Rehoboam|strong="H7346", and all that he did|strong="H6213", are they not written|strong="H3789" in the book|strong="H5612" of the chronicles|strong="H1697" of the kings|strong="H4428" of Judah|strong="H3063"?

And there was war|strong="H4421" between Rehoboam|strong="H7346" and Jeroboam|strong="H3379" all their days|strong="H3117".

And Rehoboam|strong="H7346" slept|strong="H7901" with his fathers|strong="H0001", and was buried|strong="H6912" with his fathers|strong="H0001" in the city|strong="H5892" of David|strong="H1732". And his mother’s|strong="H0517" name|strong="H8034" was Naamah|strong="H5279" an Ammonitess|strong="H5985". And Abijam|strong="H0038" his son|strong="H1121" reigned|strong="H4427" in his stead.
