1 He also said to His disciples: "There was a certain rich man who had a manager, and this [man] was accused to him as wasting his possessions.
1 Dizia Jesus também aos seus discípulos: Havia certo homem rico, que tinha um mordomo; e este foi acusado perante ele de estar dissipando os seus bens.
2 And calling him, he said to him, 'What is this I hear about you? Render an account of your management, for you can no longer be manager.'
2 Chamou-o, então, e lhe disse: Que é isso que ouço dizer de ti? Presta contas da tua mordomia; porque já não podes mais ser meu mordomo.
3 "Then the manager said within himself, 'What shall I do? For my master is taking the management away from me. I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg.
3 Disse, pois, o mordomo consigo: Que hei de fazer, já que o meu senhor me tira a mordomia? Para cavar, não tenho forças; de mendigar, tenho vergonha.
4 I know what I will do, so that whenever I am removed from the management, they will receive me into their houses.'
4 Agora sei o que vou fazer, para que, quando for desapossado da mordomia, me recebam em suas casas.
5 And having summoned each one of his master's debtors to him, he said to the first, 'How much do you owe my master?'
5 E chamando a si cada um dos devedores do seu senhor, perguntou ao primeiro: Quanto deves ao meu senhor?
6 And he said, 'A hundred baths of olive oil.' So he said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.'
6 Respondeu ele: Cem cados de azeite. Disse-lhe então: Toma a tua conta, senta-te depressa e escreve cinqüenta.
7 Then he said to another, 'And how much do you owe?' So he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat.' And he said to him, 'Take your bill, and write eighty.'
7 Perguntou depois a outro: E tu, quanto deves? Respondeu ele: Cem coros de trigo. E disse-lhe: Toma a tua conta e escreve oitenta.
8 So the master praised the unrighteous manager because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this age are shrewder in their own generation than the sons of light.
8 E louvou aquele senhor ao injusto mordomo por haver procedido com sagacidade; porque os filhos deste mundo são mais sagazes para com a sua geração do que os filhos da luz.
9 And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by the mammon of unrighteousness, so that whenever you fail, they may receive you into the eternal dwellings.
9 Eu vos digo ainda: Granjeai amigos por meio das riquezas da injustiça; para que, quando estas vos faltarem, vos recebam eles nos tabernáculos eternos.
10 He that [is] faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he that is unjust in what is least is also unjust in much.
10 Quem é fiel no pouco, também é fiel no muito; quem é injusto no pouco, também é injusto no muito.
11 Therefore if you were not faithful with the unrighteous mammon, who will entrust to you what is genuine?
11 Se, pois, nas riquezas injustas não fostes fiéis, quem vos confiará as verdadeiras?
12 And if you were not faithful in what belongs to another, who will give to you what is yours?
12 E se no alheio não fostes fiéis, quem vos dará o que é vosso?
13 No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
13 Nenhum servo pode servir dois senhores; porque ou há de odiar a um e amar ao outro, o há de odiar a um e amar ao outro, o há de dedicar-se a um e desprezar o outro. Não podeis servir a Deus e às riquezas.
14 Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were hearing all these things, and they were mocking Him.
14 Os fariseus, que eram gananciosos, ouviam todas essas coisas e zombavam dele.
15 And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. Because that which is exalted among men is an abomination before God.
15 E ele lhes disse: Vós sois os que vos justificais a vós mesmos diante dos homens, mas Deus conhece os vossos corações; porque o que entre os homens é elevado, perante Deus é abominação.
16 The law and the prophets [were] until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone enters forcibly into it.
16 A lei e os profetas vigoraram até João; desde então é anunciado o evangelho do reino de Deus, e todo homem forceja por entrar nele.
17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail.
17 É, porém, mais fácil passar o céu e a terra do que cair um til da lei.
18 Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and everyone who marries a woman who is divorced from her husband commits adultery.
18 Todo aquele que repudia sua mulher e casa com outra, comete adultério; e quem casa com a que foi repudiada pelo marido, também comete adultério.
19 "Now there was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen, enjoying himself splendidly every day.
19 Ora, havia um homem rico que se vestia de púrpura e de linho finíssimo, e todos os dias se regalava esplendidamente.
20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores, who had been placed at his gate,
20 Ao seu portão fora deitado um mendigo, chamado Lázaro, todo coberto de úlceras;
21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. And even the dogs came and would lick his sores.
21 o qual desejava alimentar-se com as migalhas que caíam da mesa do rico; e os próprios cães vinham lamber-lhe as úlceras.
22 And it came to pass that the beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.
22 Veio a morrer o mendigo, e foi levado pelos anjos para o seio de Abraão; morreu também o rico, e foi sepultado.
23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom.
23 No inferno, ergueu os olhos, estando em tormentos, e viu ao longe a Abraão, e a Lázaro no seu seio.
24 Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am suffering in this flame.'
24 E, clamando, disse: Pai Abraão, tem misericórdia de mim, e envia-me Lázaro, para que molhe na água a ponta do dedo e me refresque a língua, porque estou atormentado nesta chama.
25 But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things, but now here he is comforted and you are suffering.
25 Disse, porém, Abraão: Filho, lembra-te de que em tua vida recebeste os teus bens, e Lázaro de igual modo os males; agora, porém, ele aqui é consolado, e tu atormentado.
26 And besides all this, between us and you a great gulf has been fixed, so that those who desire to cross [over ]from here to you are not able, nor may those from there cross over to us.'
26 E além disso, entre nós e vós está posto um grande abismo, de sorte que os que quisessem passar daqui para vós não poderiam, nem os de lá passar para nós.
27 Then he said, 'Therefore I beseech you, father, that you would send him to my father's house,
27 Disse ele então: Rogo-te, pois, ó pai, que o mandes à casa de meu pai,
28 for I have five brothers, so that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.'
28 porque tenho cinco irmãos; para que lhes dê testemunho, a fim de que não venham eles também para este lugar de tormento.
29 Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.'
29 Disse-lhe Abraão: Têm Moisés e os profetas; ouçam-nos.
30 And he said, 'No, father Abraham; but if someone from the dead should go to them, they will repent.'
30 Respondeu ele: Não! pai Abraão; mas, se alguém dentre os mortos for ter com eles, hão de se arrepender.
31 But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded should one rise from the dead.' "
31 Abraão, porém, lhe disse: Se não ouvem a Moisés e aos profetas, tampouco acreditarão, ainda que ressuscite alguém dentre os mortos.
