2 sabu o bɛna aw tagamacogo ye, k’a ye ko aw jusukun gbɛnin lo, ani ko Alaɲasiran bɛ aw ra.
2 having witnessed your pure conversation {carried out} in fear;
3 Aw ta kana kɛ yɛrɛmasiri dama ye, ani kundancogo dama tɛmɛninw, ani ka sanin don aw yɛrɛ ra, ka fani sɔngɔgbɛlɛnw siri.
3 whose adorning let it not be that outward one of tressing of hair, and wearing gold, or putting on apparel;
4 Aw ye aw jusukun le masiri ni masirifɛn dogonin ye; o masirifɛn ye ɲumanya ni jususuma le ye; o le ye fɛn banbari ye, min nafa ka bon Ala fɛ.
4 but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible {ornament} of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.
5 Fɔlɔfɔlɔ, muso saninman minw tun bɛ o jigi la Ala kan, olugu tun bɛ o yɛrɛ masiri o cogo le ra, ka o yɛrɛ majigi o cɛw ye,
5 For thus also the holy women who have hoped in God heretofore adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands;
6 i ko Saran min tun bɛ a cɛ Iburahima bonya fɔ a b’a wele ko a matigicɛ. Ayiwa, aw kɛra Saran denmusow le ye, ni aw kɔni bɛ koɲuman kɛ, ni aw m’a to foyi si ye aw lasiran ka aw bɔ o sira kan.
6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose children ye have become, doing good, and not fearing with any kind of consternation.

7 {Ye} husbands likewise, dwell with {them} according to knowledge, as with a weaker, {even} the female, vessel, giving {them} honour, as also fellow-heirs of {the} grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Ayiwa, o bɛɛ kɔ, aw bɛɛ ye bɛn kelen ma, ka aw ta miiriya kɛ kelen ye, ka kɛ ɲɔgɔn fɛ, ka ɲɔgɔn kanu balemaya ra, ka hina ɲɔgɔn na, ka aw yɛrɛ majigi ɲɔgɔn ye.

9 Aw kana kojugu sara ni kojugu dɔ wɛrɛ ye, walama ka nɛnini sara ni nɛnini dɔ wɛrɛ ye; aw kana o kɛ, nka aw ye dugawu le kɛ, sabu Ala ka aw wele o le kosɔn, janko aw ye baraka sɔrɔ ale fɛ.
9 not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but on the contrary, blessing {others}, because ye have been called to this, that ye should inherit blessing.
10 Sabu a sɛbɛra Kitabu kɔnɔ ko:
10 For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
11 A ye faran juguya ra pewu, ka koɲuman kɛ,
11 And let him avoid evil, and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it;
12 Sabu Matigi ɲa lɔnin bɛ mɔgɔ terenninw na,
12 because {the} eyes of {the} Lord {are} on {the} righteous, and his ears towards their supplications; but {the} face of {the} Lord {is} against them that do evil.
13 Ayiwa, ni aw jijara koɲuman na, jɔn le bɛna aw tɔɔrɔ o kosɔn?
13 And who shall injure you if ye have become imitators of that which {is} good?
14 Nka hali ni o bɛ aw tɔɔrɔ terenninya kosɔn, aw ta ɲana. Aw kana siran mɔgɔw ɲa, aw hakiri fana kana ɲagami.
14 E até sereis felizes, se padecerdes alguma coisa por causa da justiça!
15 Aw ye Kirisita* bonya aw jusu ra dɔrɔn, k’a lɔn ko aw Matigi lo. Jigiya min bɛ aw fɛ, ni mɔgɔ o mɔgɔ ka aw ɲininka o ra, aw labɛnnin ye sɔrɔ tuma bɛɛ ka o tigi jaabi; nka aw ye a kɛ ni jususuma ni bonya ye.
15 Portanto, não temais as suas ameaças e não vos turbeis. Antes santificai em vossos corações Cristo, o Senhor. Estai sempre prontos a responder para vossa defesa a todo aquele que vos pedir a razão de vossa esperança, mas fazei-o com suavidade e respeito.
16 Aw jusukun gbɛnin ye to, janko hali ni o bɛ aw tɔgɔjugu fɔ k’a kɛ i n’a fɔ aw ka kojugu le kɛ, minw bɛ aw tɔgɔ cɛnna aw ta tagamacogoɲuman kosɔn Kirisita ta jɛnɲɔgɔnya ra, olugu yɛrɛ darakuma ye o maroya.
16 Tende uma consciência reta a fim de que, mesmo naquilo em que dizem mal de vós, sejam confundidos os que desacreditam o vosso santo procedimento em Cristo.
17 Sabu ka tɔɔrɔ koɲuman kosɔn, ni o le ye Ala sago ye, o ka fisa sani an ye tɔɔrɔ kojugu kosɔn.
17 Aliás, é melhor padecer, se Deus assim o quiser, por fazer o bem do que por fazer o mal.
18 Ayiwa, Kirisita fana sara jurumun kosɔn siɲaga kelen, ka dan o ma. Ale mɔgɔ terennin sara mɔgɔ terenbariw kosɔn, janko ka aw ladon Ala ta jɛnɲɔgɔnya ra. A yɛrɛ sara, nka a kununa Nin Saninman* baraka ra.
18 Pois também Cristo morreu uma vez pelos nossos pecados - o Justo pelos injustos - para nos conduzir a Deus. Padeceu a morte em sua carne, mas foi vivificado quanto ao espírito.

20 quando Deus aguardava com paciência, enquanto se edificava a arca, na qual poucas pessoas, isto é, apenas oito se salvaram através da água.

21 Esta água prefigurava o batismo de agora, que vos salva também a vós, não pela purificação das impurezas do corpo, mas pela que consiste em pedir a Deus uma consciência boa, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo.

22 Esse Jesus Cristo, tendo subido ao céu, está assentado à direita de Deus, depois de ter recebido a submissão dos anjos, dos principados e das potestades.
