1 What shall we say, then? shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
1 Que diremos, pois? Permaneceremos no pecado, para que a graça seja mais abundante?
2 God forbid. For we that are dead to sin, how shall we live any longer therein?
2 De modo nenhum! Nós que estamos mortos para o pecado, como viveremos ainda nele?
3 Know you not that all we, who are baptized in Christ Jesus, are baptized in his death?
3 Ou não sabeis que todos quantos fomos batizados em Jesus Cristo fomos batizados na sua morte?
4 For we are buried together with him by baptism into death; that as Christ is risen from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also may walk in newness of life.
4 De sorte que fomos sepultados com ele pelo batismo na morte; para que, como Cristo ressuscitou dos mortos pela glória do Pai, assim andemos nós também em novidade de vida.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.
5 Porque, se fomos plantados juntamente com ele na semelhança da sua morte, também o seremos na da sua ressurreição;
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin may be destroyed, to the end that we may serve sin no longer.
6 sabendo isto: que o nosso velho homem foi com ele crucificado, para que o corpo do pecado seja desfeito, a fim de que não sirvamos mais ao pecado.
7 For he that is dead is justified from sin.
7 Porque aquele que está morto está justificado do pecado.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall live also together with Christ:
8 Ora, se já morremos com Cristo, cremos que também com ele viveremos;
9 Knowing that Christ rising again from the dead, dieth now no more, death shall no more have dominion over him.
9 sabendo que, havendo Cristo ressuscitado dos mortos, já não morre; a morte não mais terá domínio sobre ele.
10 For in that he died to sin, he died once; but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God:
10 Pois, quanto a ter morrido, de uma vez morreu para o pecado; mas, quanto a viver, vive para Deus.
11 So do you also reckon, that you are dead to sin, but alive unto God, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
11 Assim também vós considerai-vos como mortos para o pecado, mas vivos para Deus, em Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor.
12 Let no sin therefore reign in your mortal body, so as to obey the lusts thereof.
12 Não reine, portanto, o pecado em vosso corpo mortal, para lhe obedecerdes em suas concupiscências;
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of iniquity unto sin; but present yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of justice unto God.
13 nem tampouco apresenteis os vossos membros ao pecado por instrumentos de iniquidade; mas apresentai-vos a Deus, como vivos dentre mortos, e os vossos membros a Deus, como instrumentos de justiça.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you; for you are not under the law, but under grace.
14 Porque o pecado não terá domínio sobre vós, pois não estais debaixo da lei, mas debaixo da graça.
15 What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
15 Pois quê? Pecaremos porque não estamos debaixo da lei, mas debaixo da graça? De modo nenhum!
16 Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey, whether it be of sin unto death, or of obedience unto justice.
16 Não sabeis vós que a quem vos apresentardes por servos para lhe obedecer, sois servos daquele a quem obedeceis, ou do pecado para a morte, ou da obediência para a justiça?
17 But thanks be to God, that you were the servants of sin, but have obeyed from the heart, unto that form of doctrine, into which you have been delivered.
17 Mas graças a Deus que, tendo sido servos do pecado, obedecestes de coração à forma de doutrina a que fostes entregues.
18 Being then freed from sin, we have been made servants of justice.
18 E, libertados do pecado, fostes feitos servos da justiça.
19 I speak an human thing, because of the infirmity of your flesh. For as you have yielded your members to serve uncleanness and iniquity, unto iniquity; so now yield your members to serve justice, unto sanctification.
19 Falo como homem, pela fraqueza da vossa carne; pois que, assim como apresentastes os vossos membros para servirem à imundícia e à maldade para a maldade, assim apresentai agora os vossos membros para servirem à justiça para a santificação.
20 For when you were the servants of sin, you were free men to justice.
20 Porque, quando éreis servos do pecado, estáveis livres da justiça.
21 What fruit therefore had you then in those things, of which you are now ashamed? For the end of them is death.
21 E que fruto tínheis, então, das coisas de que agora vos envergonhais? Porque o fim delas é a morte.
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end life everlasting.
22 Mas, agora, libertados do pecado e feitos servos de Deus, tendes o vosso fruto para santificação, e por fim a vida eterna.
23 For the wages of sin is death. But the grace of God, life everlasting, in Christ Jesus our Lord.
23 Porque o salário do pecado é a morte, mas o dom gratuito de Deus é a vida eterna, por Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor.
