1 Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ; to all the saints in Christ Jesus, who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons.
1 Paulo e Timóteo, servos de Jesus Cristo, a todos os santos em Cristo Jesus que estão em Filipos, com os bispos e diáconos:
2 Grace be unto you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Graça a vós e paz, da parte de Deus, nosso Pai, e da do Senhor Jesus Cristo.
3 I give thanks to my God in every remembrance of you,
3 Agradeço ao meu Deus todas as vezes que me lembro de vós.
4 Always in all my prayers making supplication for you all, with joy;
4 Sempre, em cada oração minha por vós, fazendo súplicas com alegria,
5 For your communication in the gospel of Christ from the first day until now.
5 pela vossa cooperação no evangelho desde o primeiro dia até agora.
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he, who hath begun a good work in you, will perfect it unto the day of Christ Jesus.
6 Sendo confiante nisto mesmo, que aquele que começou a boa obra em vós a realizará até ao dia de Jesus Cristo.
7 As it is meet for me to think this for you all, for that I have you in my heart; and that in my bands, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of my joy.
7 Como tenho por justo pensar isto de vós todos, porque vos tenho em meu coração; pois, tanto nas minhas prisões como na defesa e confirmação do evangelho, todos vós fostes participantes da minha graça.
8 For God is my witness, how I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
8 Porque Deus me é testemunha da grande saudade que tenho de todos vós, em entranhável afeição de Jesus Cristo.
9 And this I pray, that your charity may more and more abound in knowledge, and in all understanding:
9 E isto eu oro: que o vosso amor aumente mais e mais em conhecimento e em todo o julgamento.
10 That you may approve the better things, that you may be sincere and without offence unto the day of Christ,
10 Para que aproveis as coisas excelentes, para que sejais sinceros e sem ofensa alguma até o dia de Cristo,
11 Filled with the fruit of justice, through Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
11 sendo cheios de frutos da justiça, que são por Jesus Cristo, para glória e louvor de Deus.
12 Now, brethren, I desire you should know, that the things which have happened to me, have fallen out rather to the furtherance of the gospel:
12 Mas quero que saibais, irmãos, que as coisas que me aconteceram contribuíram para maior proveito do evangelho.
13 So that my bands are made manifest in Christ, in all the court, and in all other places;
13 De maneira que as minhas prisões em Cristo se tornaram conhecidas em todo o palácio, e em todos os demais lugares.
14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, growing confident by my bands, are much more bold to speak the word of God without fear.
14 E muitos dos irmãos no Senhor, adquirindo confiança com as minhas prisões, estão muito mais corajosos para falar a palavra, sem temor.
15 Some indeed, even out of envy and contention; but some also for good will preach Christ.
15 Alguns, de fato, até pregam a Cristo por inveja e contenda, e outros também de boa vontade.
16 Some out of charity, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
16 Uns pregam a Cristo por contenda, não sinceramente, julgando acrescentar aflição às minhas prisões.
17 And some out of contention preach Christ not sincerely: supposing that they raise affliction to my bands.
17 Mas outros, por amor, sabendo que fui posto para defesa do evangelho.
18 But what then? So that by all means, whether by occasion, or by truth, Christ be preached: in this also I rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
18 Mas que importa? Não obstante, de todo modo, seja na pretensão, seja na verdade, Cristo seja pregado, e nisto me regozijo, sim, e me regozijarei.
19 For I know that this shall fall out to me unto salvation, through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
19 Porque sei que disto me resultará salvação, pela vossa oração e pelo socorro do Espírito de Jesus Cristo.
20 According to my expectation and hope; that in nothing I shall be confounded, but with all confidence, as always, so now also shall Christ be magnified in my body, wither it be by life, or by death.
20 Segundo a minha intensa expectação e esperança, de que em nada serei envergonhado; antes, com toda a ousadia, Cristo será, tanto agora como sempre, engrandecido no meu corpo, seja pela vida, ou pela morte.
21 For to me, to live is Christ; and to die is gain.
21 Porque para mim o viver é Cristo, e o morrer é lucro.
22 And if to live in the flesh, that is to me the fruit of labour, and what I shall choose I know not.
22 Mas, se vivo na carne, isto é o fruto do meu trabalho; não sei, então, o que devo escolher.
23 But I am straitened between two: having a desire to be dissolved and to be with Christ, a thing by far the better.
23 Mas de ambos os lados estou em aperto, tendo desejo de partir e estar com Cristo, o que é muito melhor.
24 But to abide still in the flesh, is needful for you.
24 Todavia, permanecer na carne é mais necessário a vós.
25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide, and continue with you all, for your furtherance and joy of faith:
25 E, tendo esta confiança, sei que permanecerei e continuarei com todos vós para proveito vosso e alegria da fé,
26 That your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus for me, by my coming to you again.
26 para que o vosso regozijo seja mais abundante por mim em Cristo Jesus, pela minha nova ida a vós.
27 Only let your conversation be worthy of the gospel of Christ: that, whether I come and see you, or, being absent, may hear of you, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind labouring together for the faith of the gospel.
27 Que a vossa conversa seja digna, conforme o evangelho de Cristo, para que, quer vá e vos veja, quer esteja ausente, ouça acerca de vós que estais num mesmo espírito, com uma só mente, combatendo juntamente pela fé do evangelho.
28 And in nothing be ye terrified by the adversaries: which to them is a cause of perdition, but to you of salvation, and this from God:
28 E em nada vos aterrorizeis pelos vossos adversários, o que para eles, na verdade, é indício de perdição, mas, para vós, de salvação, e isto de Deus.
29 For unto you it is given for Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him.
29 Porque a vós vos foi concedido, em relação a Cristo, não somente crer nele, mas também sofrer por ele.
30 Having the same conflict as that which you have seen in me, and now have heard of me.
30 Tendo o mesmo conflito que já tendes visto em mim e, agora, ouvis estar em mim.
