1 Quando ficou decidido que navegaríamos para a Itália, Paulo e alguns outros presos foram entregues a um centurião chamado Júlio, que pertencia ao Regimento Imperial.
2 Having gone on board and a ship Adramyttium, being about to sail the in the Asia places, we were put to sea, being with up Aristarchus a Macedonian of Thessalonica.
2 Embarcamos num navio de Adramítio, que estava de partida para alguns lugares da província da Ásia, e saímos ao mar, estando conosco Aristarco, um macedônio de Tessalônica.
3 On the and next day we were brought to Sidon; humanely and the Julius to the Paul having treated, permitted to the friends having gone care to have obtained.
3 No dia seguinte, ancoramos em Sidom; e Júlio, num gesto de bondade para com Paulo, permitiu-lhe que fosse ao encontro dos seus amigos, para que estes suprissem as suas necessidades.
4 And from thence having put to sea we sailed under the Cyprus, because the the winds to be contrary.
4 Quando partimos de lá, passamos ao norte de Chipre, porque os ventos nos eram contrários.
5 The, and deep that by the Cilicia and Pamphylia having sailed through, we came down to Myra of the Lycia.
5 Tendo atravessado o mar aberto ao longo da Cilícia e da Panfília, ancoramos em Mirra, na Lícia.
6 And there having found the centurion a ship Alexandrian sailing for the Italy, put us into it.
6 Ali, o centurião encontrou um navio alexandrino que estava de partida para a Itália e nele nos fez embarcar.
7 In many and days sailing slowly, and scarcely being by the Cnidus, not permitting an approach us of the wind, we sailed under the Crete by Salome;
7 Navegamos vagarosamente por muitos dias e tivemos dificuldade para chegar a Cnido. Não sendo possível prosseguir em nossa rota, devido aos ventos contrários, navegamos ao sul de Creta, defronte a Salmona.
8 with difficulty and sailing by her, we came to a place certain being called Fair havens, to which near was a city Lasea.
8 Costeamos a ilha com dificuldade e chegamos a um lugar chamado Bons Portos, perto da cidade de Laséia.
9 A long and time having elapsed, and being already hazardous of the sailing, because the even the fast already to have been past, advised the Paul,
9 Tínhamos perdido muito tempo, e agora a navegação se tornara perigosa, pois já havia passado o Jejum. Por isso Paulo os advertiu:
10 saying to them: Men, I perceive, that with damage and much loss not only of the freight and of the ship, but also of the lives of us to be about to be the voyage.
10 "Senhores, vejo que a nossa viagem será desastrosa e acarretará grande prejuízo para o navio, para a carga e também para as nossas vidas".
11 The but centurion by the pilot and by the owner of the ship was persuaded rather, than by those by the Paul being spoken.
11 Mas o centurião, em vez de ouvir o que Paulo falava, seguiu o conselho do piloto e do dono do navio.
12 Inconvenient and of the harbor being to winter in, the greater part placed a wish to be led out from thence also, if possibly they might be able having come to Phenice to winter, a harbor of the Crete looking towards southwest and towards northwest.
12 Visto que o porto não era próprio para passar o inverno, a maioria decidiu que deveríamos continuar navegando, com a esperança de alcançar Fenice e ali passar o inverno. Este era um porto de Creta, que dava para sudoeste e noroeste.
13 Having blown gently and South wind, supposing the purpose to have been attained, having raised up, close passed by the Crete.
13 Começando a soprar suavemente o vento sul, eles pensaram que haviam obtido o que desejavam; por isso levantaram âncoras e foram navegando ao longo da costa de Creta.
14 After not much but beat against her a wind tempestuous, that being called Euroclydon.
14 Pouco tempo depois, desencadeou-se da ilha um vento muito forte, chamado Nordeste.
15 Having been caught and the ship, and not being able to bear up against the wind, having given up we were driven.
15 O navio foi arrastado pela tempestade, sem poder resistir ao vento; assim, cessamos as manobras e ficamos à deriva.
16 A small island and certain having run under being called Clauda, scarcely we were able masters to become of the boat;
16 Passando ao sul de uma pequena ilha chamada Clauda, foi com dificuldade que conseguimos recolher o barco salva-vidas.
17 which having taken up, helps they used, undergirding the ship; fearing and lest into the quicksand they should fall, having lowered the mast, thus were driven.
17 Levantando-o, lançaram mão de todos os meios para reforçar o navio com cordas; e temendo que ele encalhasse nos bancos de areia de Sirte, baixaram as velas e deixaram o navio à deriva.
18 Exceedingly and being stormtossed of us, on the next a throwing out they began;
18 No dia seguinte, sendo violentamente castigados pela tempestade, começaram a lançar fora a carga.
19 and on the third with their own hands the furniture of the ship they threw out.
19 No terceiro dia, lançaram fora, com as próprias mãos, a armação do navio.
20 Neither and sun, nor stars appearing for many days, a tempest and not small pressing, remaining was taken away all hope of the to be saved us.
20 Não aparecendo nem sol nem estrelas por muitos dias, e continuando a abater-se sobre nós grande tempestade, finalmente perdemos toda a esperança de salvamento.
21 Long but abstinence existing, than standing the Paul in midst of them, said: It was proper indeed, O men, having taken advice to me not to have loosed from the Crete, to have gained and the damage this and the loss.
21 Visto que os homens tinham passado muito tempo sem comer, Paulo levantou-se diante deles e disse: "Os senhores deviam ter aceitado o meu conselho de não partir de Creta, pois assim teriam evitado este dano e prejuízo.
22 And now I exhort you to take courage; loss for of a life not one shall be from of you, except the ship.
22 Mas agora recomendo-lhes que tenham coragem, pois nenhum de vocês perderá a vida; apenas o navio será destruído.
23 Stood by for me this the night a messenger of the God, of whom I am to whom also I offer service,
23 Pois ontem à noite apareceu-me um anjo do Deus a quem pertenço e a quem adoro, dizendo-me:
24 saying: Not fear, O Paul: To Caesar thee it behooves to be presented; and lo, has graciously given to thee the God all those sailing with thee.
24 ‘Paulo, não tenha medo. É preciso que você compareça perante César; Deus, por sua graça, deu-lhe as vidas de todos os que estão navegando com você’.
25 Therefore take you courage, men; I believe for in the God that thus it shall be in which manner it has been told to me.
25 Assim, tenham ânimo, senhores! Creio em Deus que acontecerá do modo como me foi dito.
26 On an island but certain it is necessary us to be cast.
26 Devemos ser arrastados para alguma ilha".
27 When and fourteenth night was come, being driven along of us in the Adriatic, about middle of thew night suspected the sailors to draw near some to them country;
27 Na décima quarta noite, ainda estávamos sendo levados de um lado para outro no mar Adriático, quando, por volta da meia-noite, os marinheiros imaginaram que estávamos próximos da terra.
28 and having heaved the lead, they found fathoms twenty; a little and having intervened, and again having the lead, they found fathoms fifteen;
28 Lançando a sonda, verificaram que a profundidade era de trinta e sete metros; pouco tempo depois, lançaram novamente a sonda e encontraram vinte e sete metros.
29 fearing and, lest on rough places we should fall, out of stern having thrown anchors four, they were wishing day to be.
29 Temendo que fôssemos jogados contra as pedras, lançaram quatro âncoras da popa e faziam preces para que amanhecesse o dia.
30 The and sailors seeking to flee out of the ship and having lowered the boat into the sea, for an excuse as out of prow being about anchors to let down,
30 Tentando escapar do navio, os marinheiros baixaram o barco salva-vidas ao mar, a pretexto de lançar âncoras da proa.
31 said the Paul to the centurion and to the soldiers: If not these remain in the ship, you to be saved not are able.
31 Então Paulo disse ao centurião e aos soldados: "Se estes homens não ficarem no navio, vocês não poderão salvar-se".
32 Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and allowed her to fall.
32 Com isso os soldados cortaram as cordas que prendiam o barco salva-vidas e o deixaram cair.
33 Till and while about day to be, called upon the Paul all to partake of food, saying: Fourteenth today day looking for, without food you continue, nothing having taken.
33 Pouco antes do amanhecer, Paulo insistia que todos se alimentassem, dizendo: "Hoje faz catorze dias que vocês têm estado em vigília constante, sem nada comer.
34 Therefore I entreat you to partake of food; this for to the your salvation is; of not one for of you a hair from of the head will perish.
34 Agora eu os aconselho a comerem algo, pois só assim poderão sobreviver. Nenhum de vocês perderá um fio de cabelo sequer".
35 Having said and these, and having taken bread, he gave thanks to the God in presence of all, and having broken began to eat.
35 Tendo dito isso, tomou pão e deu graças a Deus diante de todos. Então o partiu e começou a comer.
36 Encouraged and becoming all, also they received food.
36 Todos se reanimaram e também comeram algo.
37 We were and in the ship the all souls, two hundred seventy six.
37 Estavam a bordo duzentas e setenta e seis pessoas.
38 Being satisfied and of food, they lightened the ship, throwing the wheat into the sea.
38 Depois de terem comido até ficarem satisfeitos, aliviaram o peso do navio, atirando todo o trigo ao mar.
39 When and day it was, the land not they knew; a bay but they perceived having a shore, into which they wished, if they were able, to force the ship.
39 Quando amanheceu não reconheceram a terra, mas viram uma enseada com uma praia, para onde decidiram conduzir o navio, se fosse possível.
40 And the anchors having cut off left in the sea, at the same time having loosed the bands of the rudders; and having hoisted the foresail to the wind, they pressed towards the shore.
40 Cortando as âncoras, deixaram-nas no mar, desatando ao mesmo tempo as cordas que prendiam os lemes. Então, alçando a vela da proa ao vento, dirigiram-se para a praia.
41 Having fallen and into a place with a sea on both sides, they ran a ground the vessel; and the indeed prow having stuck fast remained immovable, the but stern was broken by the violence of the waves.
41 Mas o navio encalhou num banco de areia, onde tocou o fundo. A proa encravou-se e ficou imóvel, e a popa foi quebrada pela violência das ondas.
42 The and soldiers design was, that the prisoners they should kill, lest any one having swum out should escape.
42 Os soldados resolveram matar os presos para impedir que algum deles fugisse, jogando-se ao mar.
43 The but centurion wishing to save the Paul, restrained them from the purpose, ordered and those being able to swim, having thrown off first to the land to go out;
43 Mas o centurião queria poupar a vida de Paulo e os impediu de executar o plano. Então ordenou aos que sabiam nadar que se lançassem primeiro ao mar em direção à terra.
44 and the remaining ones, some indeed on boards, some and on things of the from of the ship. And thus it happened all to be safely on the land.
44 Os outros teriam que salvar-se em tábuas ou em pedaços do navio. Dessa forma, todos chegaram a salvo em terra.
