1 Wherefore no longer holding out, we thought well to be left in Athens alone,
1 Pelo que, não podendo suportar mais o cuidado por vós, pareceu-nos bem ficar sozinhos em Atenas;
2 and we sent Timothy, the brother of us and fellowworker of the God in the glad tidings of the Anointed, in order that to confirm you and to exhort you in behalf of the faith of you,
2 e enviamos nosso irmão Timóteo, ministro de Deus no evangelho de Cristo, para, em benefício da vossa fé, confirmar-vos e exortar-vos,
3 that no one to be shaken by the afflictions these; (yourselves, for you know, that for this we are placed;
3 a fim de que ninguém se inquiete com estas tribulações. Porque vós mesmos sabeis que estamos designados para isto;
4 indeed for when with you we were, we previously said to you, that we are about to be afflicted, even as also it happened and you know;)
4 pois, quando ainda estávamos convosco, predissemos que íamos ser afligidos, o que, de fato, aconteceu e é do vosso conhecimento.
5 on account of this also I no longer holding out, I sent in order the to know the faith of you lest perhaps tempted you the tempter, and in vain should become the toil of us.
5 Foi por isso que, já não me sendo possível continuar esperando, mandei indagar o estado da vossa fé, temendo que o Tentador vos provasse, e se tornasse inútil o nosso labor.
6 Just now but, having come Timothy to us from you, and having brought glad tidings to us the faith and the love of you, and because you have remembrance of us good always, longing us to see, even as also we you;
6 Agora, porém, com o regresso de Timóteo, vindo do vosso meio, trazendo-nos boas notícias da vossa fé e do vosso amor, e, ainda, de que sempre guardais grata lembrança de nós, desejando muito ver-nos, como, aliás, também nós a vós outros,
7 through this we were comforted, brethren, over you in all the affliction and distress of us, on account of the of you faith;
7 sim, irmãos, por isso, fomos consolados acerca de vós, pela vossa fé, apesar de todas as nossas privações e tribulação,
8 because now we live, if you stand firm in Lord.
8 porque, agora, vivemos, se é que estais firmados no Senhor.
9 What for gratitude are we able to the God to return concerning you, for all the joy with which we rejoice on account of you in presence of the God of us?
9 Pois que ações de graças podemos tributar a Deus no tocante a vós outros, por toda a alegria com que nos regozijamos por vossa causa, diante do nosso Deus,
10 night and day more exceedingly entreating for the to see of you the face, and to supply the things wanting of the faith of you.
10 orando noite e dia, com máximo empenho, para vos ver pessoalmente e reparar as deficiências da vossa fé?
11 Himself but the God and Father of us, and the Lord of us Jesus Anointed may direct the way of us to you;
11 Ora, o nosso mesmo Deus e Pai, e Jesus, nosso Senhor, dirijam-nos o caminho até vós,
12 you but the Lord cause to be full and to overthrow with the love to each other and to all, even as also we to you;
12 e o Senhor vos faça crescer e aumentar no amor uns para com os outros e para com todos, como também nós para convosco,
13 in order that to be established of you the hearts blameless in holiness in presence of the God even a Father of us, at the coming of the Lord of us Jesus Anointed with all of the holy ones of himself.
13 a fim de que seja o vosso coração confirmado em santidade, isento de culpa, na presença de nosso Deus e Pai, na vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus, com todos os seus santos.
