1 He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and without remedy.
1 Quem sempre se recusa a aceitar a repreensão será destruído de repente, sem que possa se recuperar.
2 When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
2 Quando os justos governam, o povo se alegra; quando os perversos estão no poder, o povo geme.
3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; but he that is a companion of harlots destroyeth {his} substance.
3 O homem que ama a sabedoria alegra seu pai, mas o que anda com prostitutas desperdiça sua riqueza.
4 A king by just judgment establisheth the land; but he that taketh gifts overthroweth it.
4 O rei justo dá estabilidade à nação, mas o que exige subornos a destrói.
5 A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.
5 Quem bajula os amigos prepara uma armadilha para os pés deles.
6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous shall sing and rejoice.
6 A pessoa má é pega no laço do próprio pecado, mas o justo escapa e grita de alegria.
7 The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; the wicked understandeth not knowledge.
7 O justo se preocupa com os direitos dos pobres, mas o perverso não dá a mínima atenção para isso.
8 Scornful men set the city in a flame; but the wise turn away anger.
8 Os zombadores alvoroçam a cidade inteira, mas os sábios acalmam a ira.
9 If a wise man contendeth with a fool, whether he rage or laugh, {he} hath no rest.
9 Se o sábio levar o insensato ao tribunal, haverá tumulto e zombaria, mas nada se resolverá.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the perfect, but the upright care for his soul.
10 Os sanguinários odeiam o íntegro, mas os justos procuram ajudá-lo.
11 A fool uttereth all his mind; but a wise {man} keepeth it back.
11 O tolo mostra toda a sua ira, mas o sábio a controla em silêncio.
12 If a ruler hearken to lying words, all his servants are wicked.
12 Se um governante der atenção aos mentirosos, todos os seus conselheiros serão perversos.
13 The indigent and the oppressor meet together; Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both.

14 A king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
14 Se o rei julgar os pobres com justiça, seu trono durará para sempre.
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left {to himself} bringeth his mother to shame.
15 A criança que é corrigida se torna sábia, mas o filho indisciplinado envergonha sua mãe.
16 When the wicked increase, transgression increaseth; but the righteous shall see their fall.
16 Quando os perversos estão no poder, o pecado se multiplica, mas os justos verão sua queda.
17 Chasten thy son, and he shall give thee rest, and shall give delight unto thy soul.
17 Discipline seus filhos, e eles darão paz a seu espírito e alegria a seu coração.
18 Where there is no vision the people cast off restraint; but happy is he that keepeth the law.
18 O povo que não aceita a orientação divina se corrompe, mas quem obedece à lei é feliz.
19 A servant is not corrected by words: he understandeth indeed, but he will not answer.
19 Para corrigir o servo é preciso mais que palavras; ainda que ele as entenda, não obedecerá.
20 Hast thou seen a man hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
20 Há mais esperança para o tolo que para alguém que fala sem pensar.
21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child, shall in the end have him as a son.
21 O servo mimado desde a infância se tornará rebelde.
22 An angry man exciteth contention; and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
22 A pessoa irada provoca conflitos; quem perde a calma facilmente comete muitos pecados.
23 A man's pride bringeth him low; but the humble in spirit shall obtain honour.
23 O orgulho termina em humilhação, mas a humildade alcança a honra.
24 Whoso shareth with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration, and declareth not.
24 Quem ajuda o ladrão prejudica a si mesmo; sob juramento, não ousa testemunhar.
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his confidence in Jehovah is protected.

26 Many seek the ruler's face; but a man's right judgment is from Jehovah.

27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; and he that is of upright way is an abomination to the wicked {man}.
27 O justo despreza o injusto; o perverso despreza o íntegro.
