1 And Abram was ninety-nine years old, when Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said to him, I {am} the Almighty *God: walk before my face, and be perfect.
1 Quando Abrão tinha noventa e nove anos, o Senhor Deus apareceu a ele e disse: — Eu sou o Deus Todo-Poderoso. Viva uma vida de comunhão comigo e seja obediente a mim em tudo.
2 And I will set my covenant between me and thee, and will very greatly multiply thee.
2 Eu farei a minha aliança com você e lhe darei muitos descendentes.
3 And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying,
3 Então Abrão se ajoelhou, encostou o rosto no chão, e Deus lhe disse:
4 It is I: behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of a multitude of nations.
4 — Eu faço com você esta aliança: prometo que você será o pai de muitas nações.
5 And thy name shall no more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of a multitude of nations have I made thee.
5 Daqui em diante o seu nome será Abraão e não Abrão , pois eu vou fazer com que você seja pai de muitas nações.
6 And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
6 Farei com que os seus descendentes sejam muito numerosos, e alguns deles serão reis.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee.
7 A aliança que estou fazendo para sempre com você e com os seus descendentes é a seguinte: eu serei para sempre o Deus de você e o Deus dos seus descendentes.
8 And I give to thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be a God to them.
8 Darei a você e a eles a terra onde você está morando como estrangeiro. Toda a terra de Canaã será para sempre dos seus descendentes, e eu serei o Deus deles.
9 And God said to Abraham, And {as for} thee, thou shalt keep my covenant, thou and thy seed after thee in their generations.
9 Deus continuou: — Você, Abraão, será fiel à minha aliança, você e os seus descendentes, para sempre.
10 This is my covenant which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee-that every male among you be circumcised.
10 Pela aliança que estou fazendo com você e com os seus descendentes, todos os homens entre vocês deverão ser circuncidados .
11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and {that} shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.
11 A circuncisão servirá como sinal da aliança que há entre mim e vocês.
12 And at eight days old shall every male in your generations be circumcised among you-he who is born in the house, and he who is bought with money, any stranger who is not of thy seed.
12 De hoje em diante vocês circuncidarão todos os meninos oito dias depois de nascidos, e também os escravos que nascerem nas casas de vocês, e os que forem comprados de estrangeiros.
13 He who is born in thy house, and he who is bought with thy money, must be circumcised; and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
13 Tanto uns como outros deverão ser circuncidados, sem falta. Esse será um sinal que vai ficar no seu corpo para mostrar que a minha aliança com vocês é para sempre.
14 And the uncircumcised male who hath not been circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his peoples: he hath broken my covenant.
14 Quem não for circuncidado não poderá morar no meio de vocês, pois não respeitou a minha aliança.
15 And God said to Abraham, {As to} Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.
15 Depois Deus disse a Abraão: — De hoje em diante não chame mais a sua mulher de Sarai, mas de Sara .
16 And I will bless her, and I will give thee a son also of her; and I will bless her, and she shall become nations: kings of peoples shall be of her.
16 Eu a abençoarei e darei a você um filho, que nascerá dela. Sim, eu a abençoarei, e ela será mãe de nações; e haverá reis entre os seus descendentes.
17 And Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall {a child} be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?
17 Abraão se ajoelhou, encostou o rosto no chão e começou a rir ao pensar assim: “Por acaso um homem de cem anos pode ser pai? E será que Sara, com os seus noventa anos, poderá ter um filho?”
18 And Abraham said to God, Oh that Ishmael might live before thee!
18 Então Abraão disse a Deus o seguinte: — Quem dera que Ismael vivesse abençoado por ti!
19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall indeed bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.
19 Mas Deus respondeu: — O que eu disse foi que Sara, a sua mulher, lhe dará um filho. E você o chamará de Isaque . Eu manterei a minha aliança com ele e com os seus descendentes, para sempre.
20 And for Ishmael I have heard thee: behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful, and will very greatly multiply him; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
20 Também ouvi o seu pedido a respeito de Ismael; e eu o abençoarei e lhe darei muitos filhos e muitos descendentes. Ele será pai de doze príncipes, e eu farei com que os descendentes dele sejam uma grande nação.
21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to thee at this appointed time in the next year.
21 Mas a minha aliança eu manterei com Isaque, o seu filho, que Sara dará à luz nesta mesma época, no ano que vem.
22 And he left off talking with him; and God went up from Abraham.
22 Quando acabou de falar com Abraão, Deus subiu e o deixou.
23 And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money-every male among the people of Abraham's house-and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on that same day, as God had said to him.
23 Naquele mesmo dia Abraão fez como Deus havia mandado. Ele circuncidou o seu filho Ismael e todos os outros homens da sua casa, incluindo os escravos nascidos na sua casa e os que tinham sido comprados de estrangeiros.
24 And Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
24 Abraão tinha noventa e nove anos quando foi circuncidado,
25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.
25 e o seu filho Ismael tinha treze.
26 In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son;
26 Os dois foram circuncidados no mesmo dia.
27 and all the men of his house, born in his house, or bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
27 E foram circuncidados também todos os escravos de Abraão, tanto os nascidos na sua casa como os que tinham sido comprados de estrangeiros.
