1 The real point of what we are saying is this. We now have a high priest who sits beside Gods throne or chief chair in heaven.
1 O ponto essencial do que acabamos de dizer é este: temos um Sumo Sacerdote, que está sentado à direita do trono da Majestade divina nos céus,
2 He is priest in the true holy place where God lives. The Lord made that place, man did not.
2 Ministro do santuário e do verdadeiro tabernáculo, erigido pelo Senhor, e não por homens.
3 Every high priest is chosen to offer gifts and sacrifices. So this high priest must have something to offer also.
3 Todo pontífice é constituído para oferecer dons e sacrifícios. Portanto, é necessário que ele tenha algo para oferecer.
4 If he were still on earth, he would not be a priest. There are priests on earth already who offer gifts the way the law says.
4 Por conseguinte, se ele estivesse na terra, nem mesmo sacerdote seria, porque já existem aqui sacerdotes que têm a missão, de oferecer os dons prescritos pela lei.
5 The work they do shows what the work of the priest in heaven is. When Moses made a house for God, here is what God told him to do. He said, Be sure you make everything like I showed you on the mountain.
5 O culto que estes celebram é, aliás, apenas a imagem, sombra das realidades celestiais, como foi revelado a Moisés quando estava para construir o tabernáculo: Olha, foi-lhe dito, faze todas as coisas conforme o modelo que te foi mostrado no monte {Ex 25,40}.
6 But Christ has been given a much better work, because he is the man who is between God and men in making an agreement. This is a much better agreement. It was made by better promises.
6 Ao nosso Sumo Sacerdote, entretanto, compete ministério tanto mais excelente quanto ele é mediador de uma aliança mais perfeita, selada por melhores promessas.
7 If the first agreement had been all right, there would have been no need to make another.
7 Porque, se a primeira tivesse sido sem defeito, certamente não haveria lugar para outra.
8 When the people had done wrong, Gods words to them were, The days will come, the Lord says, when I will make a new agreement with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.
8 Ora, sem dúvida, há uma censura nestas palavras: Eis que virão dias - oráculo do Senhor - em que estabelecerei, com a casa de Israel e com a casa de Judá uma aliança nova.
9 It will not be like the agreement that I made with their fathers. I made that agreement the day I led them by the hand out of the country of Egypt. But they did not keep their part of my agreement, so I left them alone, the Lord says.
9 Não coma a aliança que fiz com os seus pais no dia em que os tomei pela mão para tirá-los da terra do Egito. Como eles não permaneceram fiéis ao pacto, eu me desinteressei deles - oráculo do Senhor.
10 After those days, the Lord says, I will make an agreement with the people of Israel. This is my agreement. I will put my laws in their minds. I will write them in their hearts. I will be their God and they will be my people.
10 Mas esta é a aliança que estabelecerei com a casa de Israel depois daqueles dias: imprimirei as minhas leis no seu espírito e as gravarei no seu coração. Eu serei seu Deus, e eles serão meu povo.
11 A man will not need to teach another man, or his brother. He will not say, "Know the Lord," because everyone from the youngest to the oldest will know me.
11 Ninguém mais terá que ensinar a seu concidadão, ninguém a seu irmão, dizendo: "Conhece o Senhor", porque todos me conhecerão, desde o menor até o maior.
12 I will be kind even when they do what is not right, and I will never remember the wrong things they do.
12 Eu lhes perdoarei as suas iniqüidades, e já não me lembrarei dos seus pecados {Jr 31,31-34}.
13 God says this is a new agreement, and that makes the first one old. When a thing is old and no good, it is about ready to be thrown away.
13 Se Deus fala de uma aliança nova é que ele declara antiquada a precedente. Ora, o que é antiquado e envelhecido está certamente fadado a desaparecer.
