¹ Tsǒ mə a bə laa, tâ nɨ̀ meꞌe ŋgɔ̀ŋ ɨ̀nnǔ abɨꞌɨ ntɨɨ tsɨ̀m bo bɨ̀ ɨnnǔ mbweꞌesə̌ tsɨ̀m, nɨ̂ àbagɨlə̀ nɨ àghə̀ꞌə̀nə̀ bo bɨ̀ ŋ̀gɔ̀ŋ ɨ̀nnǔ ntâ ŋ̀gɨꞌɨ a nɨ̂ ɨ̀kùm bə̌ tsɨ̀m.

¹ Deponde, pois, toda malícia, toda astúcia, fingimentos, invejas e toda espécie de maledicência.

² Tâ nɨ̀ bə tsiꞌì tsǒ bɔɔ bì bɔrə ŋka nyəꞌətə nɨbɨɨ nɨ Azwì nìi kaa bɨ sɨ fɔrɨnə̀ aa tâ nɨ̀ kwɛtə ghuu nɨ̀ ŋkwe ŋkɔꞌɔ nyweenə,

² as newborn babes desire earnestly the pure mental milk of the word, that by it ye may grow up to salvation,

³ ǹloŋ mə nɨ̀ ywèꞌètə̀ mə abɔ̀ŋəntɨɨ Mmàꞌàmbi aà.

³ if indeed ye have tasted that the Lord {is} good.

⁴ Nɨ̀ zi ghu mbô, a mbo ŋgɔ̀ꞌɔ̀ ya mə ɨ̀ tswe ntɨ̀ɨ̀, mə bə̀ lɛ ntuu, lâ Nwìŋgɔ̀ŋ a bâŋnə̀ ǹtsɔꞌɔ nɨ yì àtɨ̀ndùù a mbo yu aà.

⁵ yourselves also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁶ Ǹloŋ mə a tswe a mûm àŋwàꞌanə Nwì mə,

⁶ Because it is contained in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Zion a corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be put to shame.

⁷ To you therefore who believe {is} the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stone which the builders cast away as worthless, this is become head of {the} corner,

⁸ ŋ̀kɨ mbə,

⁸ and a stone of stumbling and rock of offence; {who} stumble at the word, being disobedient to which also they have been appointed.

⁹ Lâ nɨ̀ nɨ̂ ŋ̀gwɛ̀ꞌɛ̀ yìi mə Nwì à tsɔ̀ꞌɔ, mbə ŋgǎŋmàꞌa Nwì, Nwì yìi à nɨ Mfɔ̀ aa, mbə atoo yìi mə a laa màŋsə̀, mbə bə̂ bɨ Nwî yumbɔŋ, mə tâ nɨ̀ ka ŋkɛꞌɛnə ɨnnǔ atsyâmbo jìi mə a ghɨ̀rə̀. M̀bə yu wa yìi mə à lɛ ntwoŋə ghuu mfiꞌisə a mûm ɨ̀tugə, nzi nɨ bù a mûm ŋ̀kàꞌà yìi mə ɨ tsya mbo aà.

⁹ But *ye* {are} a chosen race, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a people for a possession, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness to his wonderful light;

¹⁰ À lɛ mbə a noò yî mɔ̀ꞌɔ aa kaa nɨ̀ waꞌǎ bə̂ bî tsu bə̂, lâ tsɨ̂tsɔ̀ŋ nɨ nɨ bə̀ bɨ Nwî, maà noò, kaa nɨ̀ waꞌà nɨ̂ ŋ̀ko mɨ̀lɨ̀ŋnə̀ Nwì tswê, la tsɨ̂tsɔ̀ŋ nɨ̀ tswe nɨ̀ ŋ̀ko mɨ̀lɨ̀ŋnə̀ yì.

¹⁰ who once {were} not a people, but now God's people; who were not enjoying mercy, but now have found mercy.

¹¹ Bɨ̀lɨ̂m bâ bìi mə̀ kɔ̀ŋə aa, tsiꞌì tsǒ bɨ̀gɨ̀ɨ̀ fàa mbi, tsiꞌì tsǒ bə̀ bìi mə bɨ tswe atoo dàŋŋə̀ aa, tâ nɨ̀ ka ŋkhə ɨnnù jya jìi njyǎnu yə̀ꞌə̀tə̀, jìi mə ɨ màꞌa ntsò bo bɨ̀ mɨ̀ntɨɨ̀ muu aà,

¹¹ Beloved, I exhort {you}, as strangers and sojourners, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

¹² Tâ nɨ̀ tswa akòrə̀ nɨzì yuu yî sɨgɨ̀nə̀ a tɨtɨ̀ɨ bɨ̀ tɨ̀ zî Nwî, tà bɛɛ bo tɨ ghàa ɨ swoŋə nɨ mə nɨ ghɨ̀rə ɨnnù jɨ̂ bɨ, boŋ bo ka yə ɨnnù jî sɨgɨ̀nə̀ jya mə nɨ ghɨ̀rə̀ aa, ɨ yǐ tɨgə kɨ ghaꞌasə Nwî wa Njwî ǹtsɔ̀ꞌɔ̀tə mɨ̀saꞌà.

¹² having your conversation honest among the Gentiles, that {as to that} in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may through {your} good works, {themselves} witnessing {them}, glorify God in {the} day of visitation.

¹³ Ǹloŋ ŋkwi atu Mmàꞌàmbi, nɨ̀ ka nyuꞌunə bə̂ bɨ̀tsɨ̀m bìi bɨ ləə mə bɨ̀ ka nsaꞌa ghuu aà; kə̀ a bə Kaisa yìi à kɔ̀ꞌɔ ntsɨrə aa,

¹⁴ kə̀ bɨ̀gûmnàà bìi mə à too mə tâ bo ka nɨŋ njo a abàa bə̀ bìi bɨ fànsə ɨnnù aa, mbaŋnə mbeentə nɨ̂ bə̀ bìi mə bɨ ghɨ̀rə ɨnnù jìi ɨ kuꞌunə aà.

¹⁴ or to rulers as sent by him, for vengeance on evildoers, and praise to them that do well.

¹⁵ Ǹloŋ mə à nɨ̂ ŋ̀kɔ̀ŋə̂ Nwì mə tâ nɨ̀ ka ŋghɨrə ɨnnù jìi ɨ tsinə aa, tǎ kutə mɨ̂ntsù mɨ ɨjɨ̀ŋtə̀ bə̂ bìi mə à nɨ bɨbuꞌu aà.

¹⁵ Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;

¹⁶ Tâ àkòrə̀ nɨzì yuu à bə yî bə̂ bìi kaa bɨ sɨ̀ waa nɨ mɨ̀ŋkɨ̀rə̀ mî tsu kwerə̀. Lâ nɨ̀ tsuu annǔ ajàŋ yìi mə nɨ karə nɨ̂ àtû yuu aa, ɨ lɔ̀gə ɨ lɨ̀gə nɨ̂ ɨ̀làrə ɨ tsyǎ ghu a ŋghɨ̀rə ɨnnù jî bɨ̂. Tâ àkòrə̀ nɨzî yuu tâ bə yi ŋgǎŋəfàꞌà Nwî

¹⁶ as free, and not as having liberty as a cloak of malice, but as God's bondmen.

¹⁷ Tâ nɨ̀ ka ntwoŋ ɨkum a nu ŋù ǹtsɨ̀m, ŋka ŋkɔŋə nɨ bɨ̀lɨ̂m buu bìi mə bu bo bii Nwî aa, ŋka mbɔꞌɔ nɨ Nwî, ŋ̀ka ntwoŋə nɨ ɨkùm a nu Kaisa.

¹⁷ Shew honour to all, love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the king.

¹⁸ Ŋ̀gǎŋfàꞌà tâ nɨ̀ naŋsə ŋka nyuꞌunə bɨtà bɨ afàꞌâ buu bɨtsɨ̀m, ǹtwoŋə nɨ̂ ɨ̀kùm a nu bo, tâ tsuu bə aa tsiꞌì a mbo bya mə bɨ dɨ̀ꞌɨ abɔ̀ŋəntɨɨ ŋkɨ mbɔnə nɨ a nu bù aà. Tâ nɨ̀ kɨɨ nyuꞌunə nɨ̂ bya bìi mə bɨ tsəꞌə aà.

¹⁸ Servants, {be} subject with all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the ill-tempered.

¹⁹ Nwìŋgɔ̀ŋ à ka kɨ beentə aa ŋù yìi mə mbə a yuꞌù ǹyàŋə nloŋ ŋgɨꞌɨ yìi ɨ̀ kuu ghu nu tɨ ghə̂ à fànsə̂ ànnù aa, ǹloŋ mə à zî ànnù yìi mə Nwìŋgɔ̀ŋ a lɔ̀ɔ̀ aa, a laà.

¹⁹ For this {is} acceptable, if one, for conscience sake towards God, endure griefs, suffering unjustly.

²⁰ M̀bə a kwɛtə̀ gho aa nɨ̀ àkə̀ mə mbə ò fansə annù baa ŋghɔɔ nòo ò kwɛrə nɨ̀ àtàŋəntɨɨ aa ɛ? Lâ m̀bə ò baŋnə ŋghɨ̀rə annù yìi a kuꞌunə, bɨ nɨŋ ŋgɨꞌɨ a nu wò ǹloŋ annù ma ya, ò kwɛrə nɨ̂ àtàŋəntɨɨ boŋ Nwìŋgɔ̀ŋ à ka beentə ghô.

²⁰ For what glory {is it}, if sinning and being buffeted ye shall bear {it}? but if, doing good and suffering, ye shall bear {it}, this is acceptable with God.

²¹ Ǹloŋ mə Nwìŋgɔ̀ŋ à lɛ ntwoŋə ghuu aa a nɨ̂ àjàŋə annù yuà, àjàŋ yìi mə Kristo à lɛ nyə ŋgɨꞌɨ a atu bù aa, à lɛ ndɨ̀ꞌɨ̀ aa alènsə̀ mə nɨ̀ tɨgə nyoŋə nɨ̂ ɨ̀bùꞌù mɨkòrə̂ ji.

²¹ For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:

²² Kaa à lɛ ŋkɨꞌɨ annû tsu fânsə̀, kaa ànnǔ mbweꞌesə̀ yî tsu a waꞌà ghu ntsù kɨ mfɛꞌɛ.

²² who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth;

²³ Nòò yìi mə bɨ lɛ sɨ bə̀gɨ̀tə̀ yi aa, kaa à lɛ ŋkɨꞌɨ mbə̀gɨ̀tə̀ yî tsù kwiꞌinə̀, nòò yìi à lɛ sɨ yə ŋgɨꞌɨ aa, kaa ŋkɨꞌɨ̀ bə̂ kɨ ŋkaꞌatə. À lɛ mbàŋnə̀ ǹnɨŋ ntɨɨ̀ yi bə a nu yu wa yìi mə a lèntə ɨnnù bə̂ ɨ tsinə̀ aà.

²³ who, {when} reviled, reviled not again; {when} suffering, threatened not; but gave {himself} over into the hands of him who judges righteously;

²⁴ Kristo yu mbɔŋ à lɛ mbèꞌe ɨnnù jî bɨ̂ jiꞌinə̀ a ɨbɨɨ nu yu a ati bàŋnə̀ bàŋnə̀, mə bìꞌinə̀ kwo a mûm ɨ̀nnù jî bɨ, mbaŋnə ntswe ntɨ̀ɨ̀ a ŋka ŋghɨ̀rə̂ ɨ̀nnù jî tsìnə̀. Àjàŋə mə bɨ lɛ nnɨŋ ɨlaꞌa ghu nu aa, bɨ lɛ mbàŋnə̀ ŋ̀ghurə aà ghuu.

²⁴ who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, in order that, being dead to sins, we may live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye have been healed.

²⁵ Ǹloŋ mə nɨ̀ lɛ mbə aa tsiꞌì tsǒ mbinjə̀rə̀ jìi ɨ lɛɛ̀ m̀bwɛ, tsɨ̂tsɔ̀ŋ nɨ̀ bù mə̂ m̀bɨɨ fu a mbô Ǹtsèèmbi, bo bɨ̀ a mbo yu wa yìi mə a bɛ mɨ̂ntɨɨ̀ muu aà.

²⁵ For ye were going astray as sheep, but have now returned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
