1 And Mordecai hath known all that hath been done, and Mordecai rendeth his garments, and putteth on sackcloth and ashes, and goeth forth into the midst of the city and crieth -- a cry loud and bitter,
1 Quando Mordecai soube de tudo isso, rasgou a roupa em sinal de tristeza, vestiu uma roupa feita de pano grosseiro, pôs cinza na cabeça e saiu pela cidade, chorando e gritando.
2 and he cometh in unto the front of the gate of the king, but none is to come in unto the gate of the king with a sackcloth-garment.
2 Quando chegou à entrada do palácio, ele não entrou, pois quem estivesse vestido daquela maneira não podia entrar.
3 And in every province and province, the place where the word of the king, even his law, is coming, a great mourning have the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and lamenting: sackcloth and ashes are spread for many.
3 E, em todas as províncias , em todos os lugares onde foi lida a ordem do rei, os judeus começaram a chorar em voz alta. Eles se lamentaram, choraram e jejuaram, e muitos deles vestiram roupas feitas de pano grosseiro e se deitaram sobre cinzas.
4 And young women of Esther come in and her eunuchs, and declare [it] to her, and the queen is exceedingly pained, and sendeth garments to clothe Mordecai, and to turn aside his sackcloth from off him, and he hath not received [them].
4 Ester ficou muito aflita quando as suas empregadas e os seus eunucos lhe contaram o que havia acontecido. Ela mandou roupas para Mordecai vestir, mas ele não quis.
5 And Esther calleth to Hatach, of the eunuchs of the king, whom he hath stationed before her, and giveth him a charge for Mordecai, to know what this [is], and wherefore this [is].
5 Então ela mandou chamar Hataque, um dos eunucos do palácio, que tinha sido escolhido para atendê-la, e ordenou que ele fosse falar com Mordecai para saber o que estava acontecendo e qual era a razão de tudo aquilo.
6 And Hatach goeth out unto Mordecai, unto a broad place of the city, that [is] before the gate of the king,
6 Hataque foi procurar Mordecai na praça que havia em frente do palácio,
7 and Mordecai declareth to him all that hath met him, and the explanation of the money that Haman said to weigh to the treasuries of the king for the Jews, to destroy them,
7 e Mordecai contou tudo o que tinha acontecido com ele. Disse também a quantia exata que Hamã tinha prometido depositar nos cofres do rei como pagamento pela destruição de todos os judeus.
8 and the copy of the writing of the law that had been given in Shushan to destroy them he hath given to him, to shew Esther, and to declare [it] to her, and to lay a charge on her to go in unto the king, to make supplication to him, and to seek from before him, for her people.
8 Mordecai entregou a Hataque uma cópia do decreto que havia sido lido por toda a cidade de Susã, ordenando que os judeus fossem mortos. E Mordecai pediu a Hataque que levasse a cópia a Ester, explicasse tudo direito e pedisse a ela que fosse falar com o rei e insistisse que ele tivesse piedade do povo dela.
9 And Hatach cometh in and declareth to Esther the words of Mordecai,
9 Hataque fez o que Mordecai tinha pedido,
10 and Esther speaketh to Hatach, and chargeth him for Mordecai:
10 e Ester mandou Hataque entregar a seguinte resposta a Mordecai:
11 `All servants of the king, and people of the provinces of the king, do know that any man and woman, who cometh in unto the king, unto the inner court, who is not called -- one law [of] his [is] to put [them] to death, apart from him to whom the king holdeth out the golden sceptre, then he hath lived; and I -- I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.`
11 “É do conhecimento de todos, desde os servidores do palácio até os moradores de todas as províncias, que ninguém, seja homem ou mulher, pode entrar no pátio de dentro do palácio para falar com o rei, a não ser que tenha recebido ordem para isso. A lei é esta: quem entrar sem licença do rei será morto, a não ser que o rei estenda o seu cetro de ouro para essa pessoa. E já faz um mês que o rei não me manda chamar.”
12 And they declare to Mordecai the words of Esther,
12 Quando recebeu a mensagem de Ester,
13 and Mordecai speaketh to send back unto Esther: `Do not think in thy soul to be delivered [in] the house of the king, more than all the Jews,
13 Mordecai mandou o seguinte recado para ela: “Não pense que, por morar no palácio, só você, entre todos os judeus, escapará da morte.
14 but if thou keep entirely silent at this time, respite and deliverance remaineth to the Jews from another place, and thou and the house of thy fathers are destroyed; and who knoweth whether for a time like this thou hast come to the kingdom?`
14 Se você ficar calada numa situação como esta, do Céu virão socorro e ajuda para os judeus, e eles serão salvos; porém você morrerá, e a família do seu pai desaparecerá. Mas quem sabe? Talvez você tenha sido feita rainha justamente para ajudar numa situação como esta!”
15 And Esther speaketh to send back unto Mordecai:
15 Ester enviou a Mordecai a seguinte resposta:
16 `Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Shushan, and fast for me, and do not eat nor drink three days, by night and by day; also I and my young women do fast likewise, and so I go in unto the king, that [is] not according to law, and when I have perished -- I have perished.`
16 “Vá e reúna todos os judeus que estiverem em Susã, e todos vocês jejuem e orem por mim. Durante três dias não comam nem bebam nada, nem de dia nem de noite. Eu e as minhas empregadas também jejuaremos. Depois irei falar com o rei, mesmo sendo contra a lei; e, se eu tiver de morrer por causa disso, eu morrerei.”
17 And Mordecai passeth on, and doth according to all that Esther hath charged upon him.
17 Aí Mordecai foi e fez tudo o que Ester havia mandado.
