1 And Mordecai hath known all that hath been done, and Mordecai rendeth his garments, and putteth on sackcloth and ashes, and goeth forth into the midst of the city and crieth -- a cry loud and bitter,
1 Quando Mordecai soube tudo o que havia passado, rasgou as suas roupas, se cobriu de pano de saco e de cinza, e saiu pela cidade, clamando em alta voz e soltando gritos de amargura.
2 and he cometh in unto the front of the gate of the king, but none is to come in unto the gate of the king with a sackcloth-garment.
2 Chegou até a porta do rei, porque ninguém vestido de pano de saco podia entrar pela porta do rei.
3 And in every province and province, the place where the word of the king, even his law, is coming, a great mourning have the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and lamenting: sackcloth and ashes are spread for many.
3 Em todas as províncias aonde chegava a palavra do rei e a sua lei, havia entre os judeus grande luto, com jejum, choro e lamentação; e muitos se deitavam em pano de saco e em cinza.
4 And young women of Esther come in and her eunuchs, and declare [it] to her, and the queen is exceedingly pained, and sendeth garments to clothe Mordecai, and to turn aside his sackcloth from off him, and he hath not received [them].
4 Então as servas de Ester e os eunucos vieram e contaram a ela o que se passava. A rainha ficou muito aflita. Mandou roupas para que Mordecai pudesse tirar a vestimenta de pano de saco e se vestisse, mas ele não aceitou.
5 And Esther calleth to Hatach, of the eunuchs of the king, whom he hath stationed before her, and giveth him a charge for Mordecai, to know what this [is], and wherefore this [is].
5 Então Ester chamou Hataque, um dos eunucos do rei, que este tinha escolhido para a servir, e lhe ordenou que fosse a Mordecai para saber o que se passava e por que ele estava fazendo aquilo.
6 And Hatach goeth out unto Mordecai, unto a broad place of the city, that [is] before the gate of the king,
6 Hataque foi até a praça da cidade para encontrar-se com Mordecai junto à porta do rei.
7 and Mordecai declareth to him all that hath met him, and the explanation of the money that Haman said to weigh to the treasuries of the king for the Jews, to destroy them,
7 Mordecai contou tudo o que havia acontecido com ele. Disse também a quantia certa de prata que Hamã tinha prometido pagar aos tesouros do rei pelo aniquilamento dos judeus.
8 and the copy of the writing of the law that had been given in Shushan to destroy them he hath given to him, to shew Esther, and to declare [it] to her, and to lay a charge on her to go in unto the king, to make supplication to him, and to seek from before him, for her people.
8 Também lhe deu uma cópia do decreto escrito que havia sido publicado em Susã, ordenando a destruição dos judeus. Mordecai pediu a Hataque que mostrasse a cópia a Ester e a pusesse a par de tudo, a fim de que ela fosse falar com o rei e lhe pedisse misericórdia e, na sua presença, lhe suplicasse pelo povo dela.
9 And Hatach cometh in and declareth to Esther the words of Mordecai,
9 Hataque voltou e transmitiu a Ester as palavras de Mordecai.
10 and Esther speaketh to Hatach, and chargeth him for Mordecai:
10 Então Ester falou com Hataque e mandou que ele entregasse a seguinte mensagem a Mordecai:
11 `All servants of the king, and people of the provinces of the king, do know that any man and woman, who cometh in unto the king, unto the inner court, who is not called -- one law [of] his [is] to put [them] to death, apart from him to whom the king holdeth out the golden sceptre, then he hath lived; and I -- I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.`
11 “Todos os servos do rei e o povo das províncias do rei sabem que, para qualquer homem ou mulher que, sem ser chamado, entrar no pátio interior para falar com o rei, não há outra sentença que não a de morte, a não ser que o rei estenda para essa pessoa o cetro de ouro, para que viva. E eu, nestes trinta dias, não fui chamada para comparecer diante do rei.”
12 And they declare to Mordecai the words of Esther,
12 Estas palavras de Ester foram transmitidas a Mordecai.
13 and Mordecai speaketh to send back unto Esther: `Do not think in thy soul to be delivered [in] the house of the king, more than all the Jews,
13 Então Mordecai pediu que respondessem a Ester: “Não pense que, por estar no palácio real, você será a única, entre todos os judeus, que conseguirá escapar.
14 but if thou keep entirely silent at this time, respite and deliverance remaineth to the Jews from another place, and thou and the house of thy fathers are destroyed; and who knoweth whether for a time like this thou hast come to the kingdom?`
14 Porque, se você ficar calada agora, de outro lugar virá socorro e livramento para os judeus, mas você e a casa de seu pai perecerão. Mas quem sabe se não foi para uma conjuntura como esta que você foi elevada à condição de rainha?”
15 And Esther speaketh to send back unto Mordecai:
15 Então Ester pediu que levassem a Mordecai a seguinte resposta:
16 `Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Shushan, and fast for me, and do not eat nor drink three days, by night and by day; also I and my young women do fast likewise, and so I go in unto the king, that [is] not according to law, and when I have perished -- I have perished.`
16 “Vá e reúna todos os judeus que estiverem em Susã, e jejuem por mim. Não comam nem bebam nada durante três dias, nem de noite nem de dia. Eu e as minhas servas também jejuaremos. Depois, irei falar com o rei, ainda que seja contra a lei; se eu tiver de morrer, morrerei.”
17 And Mordecai passeth on, and doth according to all that Esther hath charged upon him.
17 Então Mordecai foi e fez tudo o que Ester lhe havia ordenado.
