1 And David is old, and satisfied with days, and causeth his son Solomon to reign over Israel,
1 Quando já estava bem velho, Davi pôs o seu filho Salomão como rei de Israel.
2 and gathereth all the heads of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites;
2 O rei Davi reuniu todos os líderes israelitas e todos os sacerdotes e levitas .
3 and the Levites are numbered from a son of thirty years and upward, and their number, by their polls, is of mighty men thirty and eight thousand.
3 Foram contados os levitas de trinta anos para cima, e o total foi de trinta e oito mil homens.
4 Of these to preside over the work of the house of Jehovah [are] twenty and four thousand, and officers and judges six thousand,
4 O rei nomeou vinte e quatro mil deles para administrarem o trabalho de construção do Templo. Nomeou também seis mil para fazerem a escrita e resolverem os problemas que surgissem.
5 and four thousand gatekeepers, and four thousand giving praise to Jehovah, `with instruments that I made for praising,` [saith David.]
5 E ainda nomeou quatro mil para serem guardas dos portões e quatro mil para louvarem o Senhor com os instrumentos que o próprio rei tinha mandado fazer para isso.
6 And David distributeth them into courses: Of the sons of Levi: of Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
6 Davi dividiu os levitas de acordo com os seus três grupos de famílias, que descendiam de Gérson, Coate e Merari.
7 Of the Gershonite: Laadan and Shimei.
7 Gérson foi pai de dois filhos: Ladã e Simei.
8 Sons of Laadan: the head [is] Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.
8 Ladã foi pai de três filhos: Jeiel, Zetã e Joel,
9 Sons of Shimei [are] Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three; these [are] heads of the fathers of Laadan.
9 que foram os chefes dos grupos de famílias descendentes de Ladã. (Simei foi pai de três filhos: Selomite, Haziel e Harã.)
10 And sons of Shimei [are] Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah; these [are] sons of Shimei, four.

11 And Jahath is the head, and Zizah the second, and Jeush and Beriah have not multiplied sons, and they become the house of a father by one numbering.

12 Sons of Kohath [are] Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
12 Coate foi pai de quatro filhos: Anrão, Isar, Hebrom e Uziel.
13 Sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron is separated for his sanctifying the holy of holies, he and his sons -- unto the age, to make perfume before Jehovah, to serve Him, and to bless in His name -- unto the age.
13 Anrão, o filho mais velho, foi o pai de Arão e Moisés. (Arão e os seus descendentes foram separados para sempre a fim de tomar conta dos objetos sagrados, para queimarem incenso na adoração a Deus, o Senhor , para o servirem e para abençoarem o povo em seu nome.
14 As to Moses, the man of God, his sons are called after the tribe of Levi.
14 Mas os filhos de Moisés, homem de Deus, foram contados entre os levitas.)
15 Sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.
15 Moisés foi pai de dois filhos: Gérson e Eliézer.
16 Sons of Gershom: Shebuel the head.
16 O líder dos filhos de Gérson foi Sebuel.
17 And sons of Eliezer are Rehabiah the head, and Eliezer had no other sons, and the sons of Rehabiah have multiplied exceedingly.
17 Eliézer foi pai de somente um filho, chamado Reabias, mas Reabias teve muitos descendentes.
18 Sons of Izhar: Shelomith the head.
18 Isar, o segundo filho de Coate, foi pai de um filho chamado Selomite, que foi o chefe do seu grupo de famílias.
19 Sons of Hebron: Jeriah the head, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
19 Hebrom, o terceiro filho de Coate, foi pai de quatro filhos: Jerias, Amariá, Jaaziel e Jecameão.
20 Sons of Uzziel: Micah the head, and Ishshiah, the second.
20 Uziel, o quarto filho de Coate, foi pai de dois filhos: Mica e Issias.
21 Sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi; sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.
21 Merari foi pai de dois filhos: Mali e Musi. Mali também foi pai de dois filhos: Eleazar e Quis,
22 And Eleazar dieth, and he had no sons, but daughters, and sons of Kish their brethren take them.
22 mas Eleazar morreu sem deixar nenhum filho homem; só deixou filhas. Estas casaram com os primos, os filhos de Quis.
23 Sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth, three.
23 Musi, o segundo filho de Merari, foi pai de três filhos: Mali, Éder e Jerimote.
24 These [are] sons of Levi, by the house of their fathers, heads of the fathers, by their appointments, in the number of names, by their polls, doing the work for the service of the house of Jehovah, from a son of twenty years and upward,
24 Foram estes os descendentes de Levi, por famílias e por grupos de famílias, registrados nome por nome. Todos os seus descendentes da idade de vinte anos para cima eram responsáveis pelos serviços do Templo de Deus, o Senhor .
25 for David said, `Jehovah, God of Israel, hath given rest to His people, and He doth tabernacle in Jerusalem unto the age;`
25 Davi disse: — O
26 and also of the Levites, `None [are] to bear the tabernacle and all its vessels for its service;`
26 Por isso, os levitas não precisam mais carregar a Tenda da Presença de Deus nem os objetos usados na adoração.
27 for by the last words of David they [took] the number of the sons of Levi from a son of twenty years and upward,
27 Assim, de acordo com as últimas ordens de Davi, quando completavam vinte anos de idade, os levitas eram registrados para o serviço.
28 for their station [is] at the side of the sons of Aaron, for the service of the house of Jehovah, over the courts, and over the chambers, and over the cleansing of every holy thing, and the work of the service of the house of God,
28 Então eram escalados para ajudar os sacerdotes descendentes de Arão na adoração no Templo, para cuidar dos seus pátios e salas e para conservar puro tudo o que era sagrado;
29 and for the bread of the arrangement, and for fine flour for present, and for the thin unleavened cakes, and for [the work of] the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all [liquid] measure and [solid] measure;
29 para serem responsáveis pelos pães oferecidos a Deus, pela farinha de trigo usada nas ofertas, pelos pães achatados feitos sem fermento, pelas ofertas assadas em frigideiras e pela farinha de trigo misturada com azeite. Eram também encarregados de pesar e medir as ofertas para o Templo;
30 and to stand, morning by morning, to give thanks, and to give praise to Jehovah, and so at evening;
30 de louvar e glorificar o Senhor todas as manhãs e todas as tardes
31 and for all the burnt-offerings -- burnt-offerings to Jehovah for sabbaths, for new moons, and for appointed seasons, by number, according to the ordinance upon them continually, before Jehovah.
31 e sempre que as ofertas a Deus eram queimadas no sábado, na Festa da Lua Nova e em outras festas. Foram feitas regras a respeito do número de levitas escalados de cada vez para fazerem esse trabalho. Eles ficaram encarregados para sempre da adoração ao Senhor .
32 And they have kept the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the sons of Aaron, their brethren, for the service of the house of Jehovah.
32 Eles receberam a responsabilidade de cuidar da Tenda da Presença de Deus e do Templo e de ajudar os seus parentes, os sacerdotes descendentes de Arão, na adoração no Templo.
