1 Now a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared Jehovah. And the creditor is coming to take my two children to be his slaves.
1 Ora, clamou ali uma certa mulher das esposas dos filhos dos profetas a Eliseu, dizendo: O teu servo, o meu marido, está morto; e tu sabes que o teu servo, verdadeiramente, temia o SENHOR; e o credor veio para levar consigo os meus dois filhos para serem servos.
2 And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house? And she said, Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a flask of oil.
2 E Eliseu disse a ela: O que farei por ti? Conta-me, o que tens tu na tua casa? E ela disse: A tua criada não tem nada na casa, além de uma botija de azeite.
3 Then he said, Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors; empty vessels; do not gather just a few.
3 Então ele disse: Vai, pede para ti vasos emprestados, de todos os teus vizinhos, vasos vazios; não peças poucos.
4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; and pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.
4 E, quando tu entrares, fecharás a porta diante de ti e diante dos teus filhos, e derramarás dentro de todos os vasos, e tu porás de lado aquele que estiver cheio.
5 So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out.
5 Assim, ela se foi diante dele, e fechou a porta diante de si e dos filhos que trouxeram os vasos para ela; e ela derramou.
6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, Bring me another vessel. And he said to her, There is not another vessel. And the oil stopped.
6 E sucedeu que, quando os vasos estavam cheios, ela disse ao seu filho: Traz mais um vaso. E ele lhe disse: Não há mais vaso. E o azeite parou.
7 Then she came and reported to the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.
7 Então ela veio e disse ao homem de Deus. E ele disse: Vai, vende o azeite, e paga a tua dívida, e vive, tu e os teus filhos, do restante.
8 And it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a notable woman, and she prevailed upon him to eat food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn aside there to eat food.
8 E ocorreu, um dia, que Eliseu passou até Suném, onde estava uma mulher influente; e ela o constrangeu a comer pão. E assim foi, que, toda vez que ele por ali passava, ele para ali se desviava e entrava para comer pão.
9 And she said to her husband, Behold now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us continually.
9 E ela disse ao seu marido: Eis que, agora, eu percebo que este é um homem santo de Deus, o qual sempre passa por nós.
10 Please, let us make a small walled upper room; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; and it shall be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn aside there.
10 Façamos uma pequena câmara, rogo-te, na parede; e coloquemos ali para ele uma cama, e uma mesa, e um banco, e um candelabro; e será, quando ele vier até nós, para que ele possa para ali se desviar.
11 And the day came that he came there, and he turned in to the upper room and lay down there.
11 E ocorreu, um dia, que ele veio ali, e desviou-se para dentro da câmara, e ali se deitou.
12 And he said to Gehazi his servant, Summon this Shunammite. And when he had summoned her, she stood before him.
12 E ele disse a Geazi, o seu servo: Chama essa sunamita. E quando ele a havia chamado, ela se pôs diante dele.
13 And he said to him, Say now to her, Behold, you have been concerned for us with all this care. What shall I do for you? Shall I speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army? She answered, I am dwelling among my own people.
13 E ele lhe disse: Diz agora a ela: Eis que tu tens sido cuidadosa para conosco com todo este cuidado; o que há de ser feito por ti? Desejarias tu ser recomendada ao rei, ou ao capitão do exército? E ela respondeu: Eu habito no meio do meu próprio povo.
14 So he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Truly, she has no son, and her husband is old.
14 E ele disse: O que, então, há de ser feito por ela? E Geazi respondeu: Verdadeiramente, ela não tem filho, e o seu marido é velho.
15 And he said, Summon her. When he had summoned her, she stood in the doorway.
15 E ele disse: Chama-a. E quando ele a havia chamado, ela se pôs à porta.
16 And he said, At the appointed time according to the time of life you shall embrace a son. And she said, No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!
16 E ele disse: Por volta deste tempo, segundo o tempo da vida, tu abraçarás um filho. E ela disse: Não, meu senhor, tu, homem de Deus, não mintas à tua criada.
17 And the woman conceived and bore a son at the appointed time, according to the time of life, as Elisha had spoken to her.
17 E a mulher concebeu e deu à luz um filho naquele tempo que Eliseu havia dito a ela, segundo o tempo da vida.
18 When the child was grown, it happened one day that he went out to his father, to the reapers.
18 E, quando o filho estava crescido, ocorreu, um dia, que ele saiu até ao seu pai, aos ceifeiros.
19 And he said to his father, My head, my head! So he said to a servant, Carry him to his mother.
19 E ele disse ao seu pai: Minha cabeça, minha cabeça! E ele disse a um moço: Carregai-o até a sua mãe.
20 When he had taken him and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and died.
20 E, quando ele lhe havia levado, e trazido até a sua mãe, ele se assentou sobre os joelhos dela até o meio-dia, e, então, morreu.
21 And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut the door upon him, and went out.
21 E ela subiu, e o deitou na cama do homem de Deus, e fechou a porta diante dele, e saiu.
22 And she called to her husband, and said, Please send me one of the young men and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God and come back.
22 E ela chamou o seu marido, e disse: Rogo-te que me envies um dos moços e um dos jumentos, para que eu possa correr até ao homem de Deus, e retornar.
23 And he said, Why are you going to him today? It is neither the new moon nor the sabbath. And she said, It will be well.
23 E ele disse: Por que irás a ele hoje? Não é nem lua nova, nem shabat. E ela disse: Isto será bom.
24 And she saddled a donkey, and said to her servant, Lead on and go; do not slacken the pace for me unless I say so.
24 Ela, então, selou um jumento, e disse ao seu servo: Conduz, e segue adiante; não detenhas a tua cavalgada por minha causa, exceto se eu to pedir.
25 So she departed, and went to the man of God at Mount Carmel. And so it was, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to his servant Gehazi, Behold, the Shunammite!
25 Assim, ela foi e chegou até ao homem de Deus no monte Carmelo. E sucedeu que, quando o homem de Deus a viu ao longe, ele disse a Geazi, o seu servo: Eis que acolá está aquela sunamita;
26 Please run now to meet her, and say to her, Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well.
26 corre agora, rogo-te, para encontrá-la, e diz a ela: Está bem contigo? Está bem com o teu marido? Está bem com o filho? E ela respondeu: Está bem.
27 And when she came to the man of God at the hill, she took hold of his feet; and Gehazi came near to push her away; but the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is bitter, and Jehovah has hidden it from me, and has not told me.
27 E quando ela chegou até ao homem de Deus no outeiro, ela o agarrou pelos pés; mas Geazi se aproximou para afastá-la. E o homem de Deus disse: Deixa-a por si; porque a sua alma está atormentada dentro dela; e o SENHOR ocultou isso de mim, e não me contou.
28 And she said, Did I ask a son of my lord? Did I not say, Do not deceive me?
28 Então, ela disse: Pedi eu um filho ao meu senhor? Não disse eu: Não me enganes?
29 Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up your loins, and take my staff in your hand, and go. If you meet anyone, do not greet him; and if anyone greets you, do not answer him; but lay my staff on the face of the boy.
29 Então, ele disse a Geazi: Cinge os teus lombos, e toma o meu bordão na tua mão, e vai pelo teu caminho; se tu encontrares qualquer homem, não o saúdes; e se algum te saudar, não o respondas de volta; e deita o meu bordão sobre a face da criança.
30 And the mother of the boy said, As Jehovah lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. So he arose and went after her.
30 E a mãe da criança disse: Como vive o SENHOR, e como vive a tua alma; não te deixarei. E ele se levantou e a seguiu.
31 And Gehazi went on before them, and laid the staff on the face of the boy; but there was neither voice nor hearing. Therefore he went back to meet him, and reported to him, saying, The boy has not awakened.
31 E Geazi passou adiante deles, e pôs o bordão sobre a face da criança; porém não houve nem voz, nem audição. Porquanto ele foi, novamente, encontrá-lo e lhe contou, dizendo: O menino não está acordado.
32 And when Elisha came into the house, behold, the boy was dead, lying on his bed.
32 E, quando Eliseu, havia entrado na casa, eis que o menino estava morto, e deitado sobre a sua cama.
33 So he went in, shut the door behind the two of them, and prayed unto Jehovah.
33 Ele, portanto, entrou e fechou a porta diante de ambos, e orou ao SENHOR.
34 And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands; and he stretched himself out on the child, and the flesh of the child became warm.
34 E ele subiu, e deitou-se sobre a criança, e pôs a sua boca sobre boca dele, e os seus olhos sobre os olhos dele, e as suas mãos sobre as mãos dele; e estendeu-se sobre a criança; e a carne da criança ficou morna.
35 He returned and walked back and forth in the house, and again went up and stretched himself out on him; then the boy sneezed seven times, and the boy opened his eyes.
35 Depois, ele retornou e andou de um lado para o outro dentro da casa; e subiu, e estendeu-se sobre ele; e a criança espirrou sete vezes, e a criança abriu os seus olhos.
36 And he summoned Gehazi and said, Summon this Shunammite. So he summoned her. And when she came in to him, he said, Take up your son.
36 E ele chamou Geazi, e disse: Chama essa sunamita. Assim, ele a chamou. E, quando ela havia entrado diante dele, ele disse: Toma o teu filho.
37 And she went in, fell at his feet, and bowed to the ground, and took up her son and went out.
37 Então, ela entrou, e caiu aos seus pés, e se curvou até ao chão, e tomou o seu filho, e saiu.
38 And Elisha returned to Gilgal. Now there was a famine in the land, and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him; and he said to his servant, Put on the large pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.
38 E Eliseu voltou, novamente, a Gilgal; e houve uma fome na terra; e os filhos dos profetas estavam assentados diante dele; e ele disse ao seu servo: Prepara a panela grande e cozinha uma sopa para os filhos dos profetas.
39 And one of them went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered from it a lapful of wild gourds, and came and sliced them into the pot of stew, though they did not know what they were.
39 E um saiu ao campo para colher ervas, e encontrou uma parra brava, e dela colheu cabaças bravas que encheram o seu regaço, e veio e as desfiou na panela de sopa; porque eles não as conheciam.
40 And they poured out for the men to eat. And it happened, as they were eating the stew, that they cried out and said, Man of God, there is death in the pot! And they could not eat it.
40 Assim, eles derramaram para que os homens comessem. E sucedeu, enquanto eles estavam comendo a sopa, que eles gritaram e disseram: Ó tu homem de Deus, há morte na panela. E eles não puderam dela comer.
41 So he said, Then bring some flour. And he put it into the pot, and said, Pour it out for the people, that they may eat. And there was nothing harmful in the pot.
41 Mas ele disse: Então, trazei comida. E ele a lançou na panela; e ele disse: Derramai para o povo, para que possam comer. E não havia mais mal na panela.
42 And a man came from Baal Shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley bread, and fresh heads of grain in his sack. And he said, Give it to the people, that they may eat.
42 E veio ali um homem de Baal-Salisa, e trouxe ao homem de Deus pão das primícias, vinte bolos de cevada, e espigas cheias de milho no seu alforje. E ele disse: Dá ao povo para que possa comer.
43 But his servant said, What? Shall I set this before one hundred men? He said again, Give it to the people, that they may eat; for thus says Jehovah: They shall eat and have some left over.
43 E o seu servo disse: Como deverei eu pôr isto diante de uma centena de homens? Ele disse novamente: Dá ao povo, para que possa comer; porque assim diz o SENHOR: Eles comerão, e deixarão sobra.
44 So he set it before them; and they ate and had some left over, according to the Word of Jehovah.
44 Assim, os pôs diante deles, e comeram, e deixaram sobra, segundo a palavra do SENHOR.
