1 And Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his place.
1 Descansou Josafá com seus pais e foi sepultado com eles na Cidade de Davi; e Jeorão, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
2 He had brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah; all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
2 Teve este irmãos, filhos de Josafá: Azarias, Jeiel, Zacarias, Azarias, Micael e Sefatias; todos estes foram filhos de Josafá, rei de Israel.
3 Their father gave them many gifts of silver and gold and precious things, with fortified cities in Judah; but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram, because he was the firstborn.
3 Seu pai lhes fez muitas dádivas de prata, ouro e coisas preciosas e ainda de cidades fortificadas em Judá; porém o reino deu a Jeorão, por ser o primogênito.
4 Now when Jehoram rose to power over the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself and killed all his brothers with the sword, and also others of the rulers of Israel.
4 Tendo Jeorão assumido o reino de seu pai e havendo-se fortificado, matou todos os seus irmãos à espada, como também alguns dos príncipes de Israel.
5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
5 Era Jeorão da idade de trinta e dois anos quando começou a reinar e reinou oito anos em Jerusalém.
6 And he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for he had the daughter of Ahab as a wife; and he did evil in the eyes of Jehovah.
6 Andou nos caminhos dos reis de Israel, como também fizeram os da casa de Acabe, porque a filha deste era sua mulher; e fez o que era mau perante o Senhor .
7 Yet Jehovah would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that He had made with David, and since He had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.
7 Porém o Senhor não quis destruir a casa de Davi por causa da aliança que com ele fizera, segundo a promessa que lhe havia feito de dar a ele, sempre, uma lâmpada e a seus filhos.
8 In his days the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.
8 Nos dias de Jeorão, se revoltaram os edomitas contra o poder de Judá e constituíram o seu próprio rei.
9 So Jehoram went out with his commanders, and all his chariots with him. And he rose up by night and struck the Edomites who had surrounded him and the commanders of the chariots.
9 Pelo que Jeorão passou adiante com todos os seus chefes, e todos os carros, com ele; de noite, se levantou e feriu os edomitas que o cercavam e os capitães dos carros.
10 Thus Edom has been in revolt from under the hand of Judah to this day. At that time Libnah revolted from under his hand, because he had forsaken Jehovah the God of his fathers.
10 Assim, se rebelou Edom para livrar-se do poder de Judá, até ao dia de hoje; ao mesmo tempo, se rebelou também Libna contra Jeorão, porque este deixara ao Senhor , Deus de seus pais.
11 Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit harlotry, and thrust Judah aside.
11 Também fez altos nos montes de Judá, e seduziu os habitantes de Jerusalém à idolatria, e fez desgarrar a Judá.
12 And a writing came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says Jehovah the God of your father David: Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
12 Então, lhe chegou às mãos uma carta do profeta Elias, em que estava escrito: Assim diz o Senhor , Deus de Davi, teu pai: Porquanto não andaste nos caminhos de Josafá, teu pai, e nos caminhos de Asa, rei de Judá,
13 but have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot like the harlotry of the house of Ahab, and also have killed your brothers, those of your fathers household, who were better than yourself,
13 mas andaste nos caminhos dos reis de Israel, e induziste à idolatria a Judá e os moradores de Jerusalém, segundo a idolatria da casa de Acabe, e também mataste a teus irmãos, da casa de teu pai, melhores do que tu,
14 behold, Jehovah is striking your people with a great blow; your children, your wives, and all your possessions;
14 eis que o Senhor castigará com grande flagelo ao teu povo, aos teus filhos, às tuas mulheres e todas as tuas possessões.
15 and you shall have great sickness with a disease of your intestines, until your intestines come out by reason of the sickness, day by day.
15 Tu terás grande enfermidade nas tuas entranhas, enfermidade que aumentará dia após dia, até que saiam as tuas entranhas.
16 Moreover Jehovah stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and the Arabians who were near the Ethiopians.
16 Despertou, pois, o Senhor contra Jeorão o ânimo dos filisteus e dos arábios que estão do lado dos etíopes.
17 And they came up into Judah and broke through, and carried away all the possessions that were found in the kings house, and also his sons and his wives, so that there was not a son left to him except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
17 Estes subiram a Judá, deram contra ele e levaram todos os bens que se acharam na casa do rei, como também a seus filhos e as suas mulheres; de modo que não lhe deixaram filho algum, senão Jeoacaz, o mais moço deles.
18 And after all this Jehovah struck him in his intestines with an incurable disease.
18 Depois de tudo isto, o Senhor o feriu nas suas entranhas com enfermidade incurável.
19 And it happened in the course of time, after the end of two years, that his intestines came out because of his sickness; so he died from the miserable disease. And his people made no burning for him, like the burnings for his fathers.
19 E, aumentando esta dia após dia, ao cabo de dois anos, saíram-lhe as entranhas por causa da enfermidade, e morreu com terríveis agonias. O seu povo não lhe queimou aromas, como se fez a seus pais.
20 He was thirty-two years old when he became king. He reigned in Jerusalem eight years and, and departed unloved. And they buried him in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
20 Era ele da idade de trinta e dois anos quando começou a reinar e reinou oito anos em Jerusalém. E se foi sem deixar de si saudades; sepultaram-no na Cidade de Davi, porém não nos sepulcros dos reis.
