1 Yn the secounde yeer of Joas, sone of Joachas, kyng of Israel, Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, regnyde.
1 No segundo ano do reinado de Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, rei de Israel, Amazias, filho de Joás, rei de Judá, começou a reinar.
2 Amasie was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne; forsothe he regnyde in Jerusalem nyne and twenti yeer; the name of his modir was Joade of Jerusalem.
2 Tinha vinte e cinco anos de idade quando começou a reinar e reinou vinte e nove anos em Jerusalém. A mãe dele se chamava Jeoadã e era de Jerusalém.
3 And he dide riytfulnesse bifor the Lord, netheles not as Dauid, his fadir; he dide bi alle thingis whiche Joas, his fadir, dide, no but this oonli,
3 Amazias fez o que era reto aos olhos do Senhor , ainda que não como Davi, seu pai; mas fez segundo tudo o que o seu pai Joás havia feito.
4 that he dide not awei hiy thingis; for yit the puple made sacrifice, and brent encence in hiy thingis.
4 Apenas os lugares altos não foram tirados, e o povo ainda sacrificava e queimava incenso nesses altos.
5 And whanne he hadde gete the rewme, he smoot hise seruauntis, that hadden killid the kyng, his fadir;
5 Logo que o reino foi confirmado nas suas mãos, matou os servos que tinham assassinado o rei, seu pai.
6 but he killide not the sones of hem that hadden slayn `the kyng, bi that that is writun in the book of the lawe of Moyses, as the Lord comaundide to Moises, and seide, Fadris schulen not die for the sones, nethir the sones for the fadris, but eche man schal die in his owne synne.
6 No entanto, não matou os filhos dos assassinos, mas fez segundo está escrito no Livro da Lei de Moisés, no qual o Senhor deu ordem, dizendo: “Os pais não serão mortos por causa dos filhos, nem os filhos serão mortos por causa dos pais; cada qual será morto pelo seu próprio pecado.”
7 He smoot Edom in the valey of makyngis of salt, `he smoot ten thousynde, and took `the Stoon in batel; and he clepide the name therof Jethel, `til in to present dai.
7 Amazias matou dez mil edomitas no vale do Sal e conquistou a cidade de Sela na guerra, dando-lhe o nome de Jocteel, que ela conserva até o dia de hoje.
8 Thanne Amasie sente messangeris to Joas, sone of Joachaz, sone of Hieu, kyng of Israel, and seide, Come thou, and se we vs `in batel.
8 Então Amazias enviou mensageiros a Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, filho de Jeú, rei de Israel, dizendo: — Venha me enfrentar no campo de batalha.
9 And Joas, kyng of Israel, sente ayen to Amasie, kyng of Juda, and seide, The cardue, `that is, a low eerbe, and ful of thornes, of the Liban sente to the cedre, which is in the Liban, and seide, Yyue thi douytir wijf to my sone; and the beestis of the forest, that ben in the Liban, passiden, and tredden doun the cardue.
9 Porém Jeoás, rei de Israel, respondeu a Amazias, rei de Judá: — O espinheiro que está no Líbano mandou dizer ao cedro que lá está: “Dê a sua filha por mulher ao meu filho.” Mas um animal selvagem, que estava no Líbano, passou e pisoteou o espinheiro.
10 Thou hast smyte, and haddist the maistri on Edom, and thin herte hath reisid thee; be thou apaied with glorie, and sitte in thin hows; whi excitist thou yuel, that thou falle, and Juda with thee?
10 Na verdade, você derrotou os edomitas, e o seu coração se encheu de orgulho. Glorie-se disso e fique em casa. Por que provocar um mal que trará somente desgraça para você e para Judá?
11 And Amasie assentide not `to be in pees; and Joas, kyng of Israel, stiede, and he and Amasie, kyng of Juda, sien hem silf in Bethsames, a citee of Juda.
11 Mas Amazias não quis atendê-lo. Então Jeoás, rei de Israel, avançou contra Amazias, rei de Judá, e eles se enfrentaram em Bete-Semes, que está em Judá.
12 And Juda was smytun bifor Israel; and thei fledden ech man in to his tabernaclis.

13 Jeoás, rei de Israel, prendeu Amazias, rei de Judá, filho de Joás, filho de Acazias, em Bete-Semes. Então foi a Jerusalém e derrubou uma parte da muralha da cidade, desde o Portão de Efraim até o Portão da Esquina, numa extensão de mais ou menos duzentos metros.
14 And he took al the gold and siluer, and alle vessels, that weren foundun in the hows of the Lord, and in the tresours of the kyng; and he took ostagis, and turnede ayen in to Samarie.
14 Pegou todo o ouro, a prata e todos os utensílios que havia na Casa do Senhor e nos tesouros do palácio real, bem como alguns reféns; e voltou para Samaria.
15 Sotheli the resydue of wordis of Joas, whiche he dide, and his strengthe, bi which he fauyt ayens Amasie, kyng of Juda, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of dayes of the kyngis of Israel?
15 Quanto aos demais atos de Jeoás, ao que fez e ao seu poder, com que lutou contra Amazias, rei de Judá, não está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel?
16 And Joas slepte with hise fadris, and was biried in Samarie with the kyngis of Israel; and Jeroboam, his sone, regnede for hym.
16 Jeoás morreu e foi sepultado em Samaria, junto aos reis de Israel. E Jeroboão, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
17 Forsothe Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, lyuede fyue and twenti yeer, after that Joas, sone of Joachaz, kyng of Israel, was deed.
17 Amazias, filho de Joás, rei de Judá, viveu quinze anos depois da morte de Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, rei de Israel.
18 Forsothe the residue of wordis of Amasie, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Juda?
18 Quanto aos demais atos de Amazias, não está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Judá?
19 And `sweryng togidir in Jerusalem was maad ayens hym, and he fledde in to Lachis; and thei senten aftir hym in to Lachis, and killiden hym there.
19 Conspiraram contra ele em Jerusalém, e ele fugiu para Laquis; porém enviaram homens atrás dele até Laquis e o mataram.
20 And thei baren out hym in horsis, and he was biried in Jerusalem with hise fadris, in the citee of Dauid.
20 Trouxeram-no sobre cavalos e o sepultaram em Jerusalém, junto a seus pais, na Cidade de Davi.
21 Forsothe al the puple of Juda took Azarie, hauynge sixtene yeer; and maden hym king for his fadir Amasie.
21 Todo o povo de Judá tomou Uzias, que tinha dezesseis anos de idade, e o constituiu rei em lugar de Amazias, seu pai.
22 And he bildide Ahila, and restoride it to Juda, after that `the kyng slepte with hise fadris.
22 Depois da morte de seu pai, Uzias reconstruiu Elate e a restituiu a Judá.
23 In the fiftenethe yeer of Amasie, sone of Joas, kyng of Juda, Jeroboam, sone of Joas, kyng of Israel, regnyde in Samarie oon and fourti yeer;
23 No décimo quinto ano do reinado de Amazias, filho de Joás, rei de Judá, Jeroboão, filho de Jeoás, rei de Israel, começou a reinar em Samaria; e reinou quarenta e um anos.
24 and dide that, that is yuel bifor the Lord; he yede not awei fro alle the synnes of Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, that made Israel to do synne.
24 Jeroboão fez o que era mau aos olhos do Senhor . Jamais se afastou de nenhum dos pecados de Jeroboão, filho de Nebate, que este levou Israel a cometer.
25 He restoride the termes of Israel, fro the entryng of Emath `til to the see of wildirnesse, bi the word of the Lord God of Israel, which he spak bi his seruaunt Jonas, sone of Amathi, bi Jonas, the prophete, that was of Jeth, `which Jeth is in Ophir.
25 Restabeleceu os limites de Israel, desde a entrada de Hamate até o mar da Arabá, segundo a palavra do Senhor , Deus de Israel, anunciada por meio de seu servo Jonas, filho de Amitai, o profeta, que era de Gate-Hefer.
26 For the Lord siy the ful bittir turment of Israel, and that thei weren wastid `til to the closid men of prisoun, and the laste men, and `noon was that helpide Israel.
26 Porque o Senhor viu que a aflição de Israel era muito amarga, porque não havia nem escravo, nem livre, nem quem socorresse Israel.
27 And the Lord spak not, that he schulde do awei Israel fro vndur heuene, but he sauyde hem in the hond of Jeroboam, sone of Joas.
27 O Senhor ainda não havia falado em apagar o nome de Israel da face da terra; porém os livrou por meio de Jeroboão, filho de Jeoás.
28 Forsothe the residue of wordis of Jeroboam, and alle thingis whiche he dide, and the strengthe of hym, bi which he fauyt, and hou he restoride Damask, and Emath of Juda, in Israel, whether these ben not wrytun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Israel?
28 Quanto aos demais atos de Jeroboão, tudo o que fez, o seu poder, como lutou e como reconquistou Damasco e Hamate, pertencentes a Judá, para Israel, não está tudo escrito no Livro da História dos Reis de Israel?
29 And Jeroboam slepte with hise fadris, the kyngis of Israel; and Azarie, his sone, regnede for hym.
29 Jeroboão morreu e foi sepultado nos túmulos dos reis de Israel; e Zacarias, seu filho, reinou em seu lugar.
