1 Therfor putte ye awei al malice, and al gile, and feynyngis, and enuyes, and alle bacbityngis;
1 Portanto, abandonem toda maldade, todo engano, hipocrisia e inveja, bem como todo tipo de maledicência.
2 as now borun yonge children, resonable, with out gile, coueite ye mylk, that in it ye wexe in to helthe; if netheles ye han tastid,
2 Como crianças recém-nascidas, desejem o genuíno leite espiritual, para que, por ele, lhes seja dado crescimento para a salvação,
3 that the Lord is swete.
3 se é que vocês já têm a experiência de que o Senhor é bondoso.
4 And neiye ye to hym, that is a lyuyng stoon, and repreuyd of men, but chosun of God, and onourid;
4 Chegando-se a ele, a pedra que vive, rejeitada, sim, pelos homens, mas para com Deus eleita e preciosa,
5 and ye silf as quyk stoonys be ye aboue bildid in to spiritual housis, and an hooli preesthod, to offre spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God bi Jhesu Crist.
5 também vocês, como pedras que vivem, são edificados casa espiritual para serem sacerdócio santo, a fim de oferecerem sacrifícios espirituais agradáveis a Deus por meio de Jesus Cristo.
6 For which thing the scripture seith, Lo! Y schal sette in Syon the hiyeste corner stoon, chosun and preciouse; and he that schal belieue in hym, schal not be confoundid.
6 Pois isso está na Escritura: “Eis que ponho em Sião uma pedra angular, eleita e preciosa; e quem nela crer não será envergonhado.”
7 Therfor onour to you that bileuen; but to men that bileuen not, the stoon whom the bilderis repreuyden, this is maad in to the heed of the corner; and the stoon of hirtyng,
7 Portanto, para vocês, os que creem, esta pedra é preciosa. Mas, para os descrentes, “A pedra que os construtores rejeitaram, essa veio a ser a pedra angular.”
8 and stoon of sclaundre, to hem that offenden to the word, nethir bileuen it, in which thei ben set.
8 E: “Pedra de tropeço e rocha de ofensa.” São estes os que tropeçam na palavra, sendo desobedientes, para o que também foram destinados.
9 But ye ben a chosun kyn, a kyngli preesthod, hooli folc, a puple of purchasing, that ye telle the vertues of hym, that clepide you fro derknessis in to his wondirful liyt.
9 Vocês, porém, são geração eleita, sacerdócio real, nação santa, povo de propriedade exclusiva de Deus, a fim de proclamar as virtudes daquele que os chamou das trevas para a sua maravilhosa luz.
10 Which sum tyme were not a puple of God, but now ye ben the puple of God; which hadden not merci, but now ye han merci.
10 Antes, vocês nem eram povo, mas agora são povo de Deus; antes, não tinham alcançado misericórdia, mas agora alcançaram misericórdia.
11 Moost dere, Y biseche you, as comelyngis and pilgrymys, to absteine you fro fleischli desiris, that fiyten ayens the soule;
11 Amados, peço a vocês, como peregrinos e forasteiros que são, que se abstenham das paixões carnais, que fazem guerra contra a alma,
12 and haue ye youre conuersacioun good among hethene men, that in that thing that thei bacbite of you, as of mysdoeris, thei biholden you of good werkis, and glorifie God in the dai of visitacioun.
12 tendo conduta exemplar no meio dos gentios, para que, quando eles os acusarem de malfeitores, observando as boas obras que vocês praticam, glorifiquem a Deus no dia da visitação.
13 Be ye suget to ech creature, for God; ethir to the kyng, as to hym that is hiyer in state,
13 Por causa do Senhor, estejam sujeitos a toda instituição humana, quer seja ao rei, como soberano,
14 ethir to duykis, as to thilke that ben sent of hym to the veniaunce of mysdoers, and to the preisyng of good men.
14 quer seja às autoridades, como enviadas por ele, tanto para castigo dos malfeitores como para louvor dos que praticam o bem.
15 For so is the wille of God, that ye do wel, and make the vnkunnyngnesse of vnprudent men to be doumb.
15 Porque assim é a vontade de Deus, que, pela prática do bem, vocês silenciem a ignorância dos insensatos.
16 As fre men, and not as hauynge fredom the keuering of malice, but as the seruauntis of God.
16 Como pessoas livres que são, não usem a liberdade como desculpa para fazer o mal; pelo contrário, vivam como servos de Deus.
17 Onoure ye alle men, loue ye brithirhod, drede ye God, onoure ye the king.
17 Tratem todos com honra, amem os irmãos na fé, temam a Deus e honrem o rei.
18 Seruauntis, be ye sugetis in al drede to lordis, not oneli to good and to mylde, but also to tyrauntis.
18 Servos, sejam obedientes ao senhor de vocês, com todo o temor. E não somente se ele for bom e cordial, mas também se for mau.
19 For this is grace, if for conscience of God ony man suffrith heuynessis, and suffrith vniustli.
19 Porque isto é agradável a Deus, que alguém suporte tristezas, sofrendo injustamente, por motivo de sua consciência para com Deus.
20 For what grace is it, if ye synnen, and ben buffatid, and suffren? But if ye don wel, and suffren pacientli, this is grace anentis God.
20 Pois que glória há, se, pecando e sendo castigados por isso, vocês o suportam com paciência? Se, entretanto, quando praticam o bem, vocês são igualmente afligidos e o suportam com paciência, isto é agradável a Deus.
21 For to this thing ye ben clepid. For also Crist suffride for vs, and lefte ensaumple to you, that ye folewe the steppis of hym.
21 Porque para isto mesmo vocês foram chamados, pois também Cristo sofreu no lugar de vocês, deixando exemplo para que vocês sigam os seus passos.
22 Which dide not synne, nethir gile was foundun in his mouth.
22 Ele não cometeu pecado, nem foi encontrado engano em sua boca.
23 And whanne he was cursid, he curside not; whanne he suffride, he manasside not; but he bitook hym silf to hym, that demyde hym vniustli.
23 Pois ele, quando insultado, não revidava com insultos; quando maltratado, não fazia ameaças, mas se entregava àquele que julga retamente,
24 And he hym silf bar oure synnes in his bodi on a tre, that we be deed to synnes, and lyue to riytwisnesse, bi whos wan wounde ye ben heelid.
24 carregando ele mesmo, em seu corpo, sobre o madeiro, os nossos pecados, para que nós, mortos para os pecados, vivamos para a justiça. Pelas feridas dele vocês foram sarados.
25 For ye weren as scheep errynge, but ye ben now turned to the schipherde, and bischop of youre soulis.
25 Porque vocês estavam desgarrados como ovelhas; agora, porém, se converteram ao Pastor e Bispo da alma de vocês.
