1 Now thou, douyter of a theef, schalt be distried; thei puttiden on vs bisegyng, in a yerde thei schulen smyte the cheke of the iuge of Israel.
1 Agora, reúne tuas tropas, filha de guerreiros! Vieram e nos cercaram, ferem com uma vara a face do juiz de Israel.
2 And thou, Bethleem Effrata, art litil in the thousyndis of Juda; he that is the lordli gouernour in Israel, schal go out of thee to me; and the goyng out of hym is fro bigynnyng, fro daies of euerlastyngnesse.
2 Mas tu, Belém-Efrata, tão pequena entre os clãs de Judá, é de ti que sairá para mim aquele que é chamado a governar Israel. Suas origens remontam aos tempos antigos, aos dias do longínquo passado.
3 For this thing he shal yyue hem til to the tyme in which the trauelinge of child schal bere child, and the relifs of hise britheren schulen be conuertid to the sones of Israel.
3 Por isso, {Deus} os deixará, até o tempo em que der à luz aquela que há de dar à luz. Então o resto de seus irmãos voltará para junto dos filhos de Israel.
4 And he schal stonde, and schal fede in the strengthe of the Lord, in the heiythe of the name of his Lord God; and thei schulen be conuertid, for now he schal be magnefied til to the endis of al erthe.
4 Ele se levantará para {os} apascentar, com o poder do Senhor, com a majestade do nome do Senhor, seu Deus. Os seus viverão em segurança, porque ele será exaltado até os confins da terra.
5 And this schal be pees, whanne Assirius schal come in to oure lond, and whanne he schal trede in oure housis; and we schulen reise on hym seuene scheepherdis, and eiyte primatis men, ether the firste in dignytee.
5 E assim será a paz. Quando o assírio invadir nossa terra e pisar nossos terrenos, resistir-lhe-emos com sete pastores e oito príncipes do povo.
6 And thei schulen frete the lond of Assur bi swerd, and the lond of Nembroth bi speris of hym; and he schal delyuere vs fro Assur, whanne he schal come in to oure lond, and whanne he schal trede in oure coostis.
6 Devastarão a terra da Assíria com o gládio, e com a espada a terra de Nemrod. Assim nos salvará ele do assírio, quando este invadir nossa terra e atacar nosso solo.
7 And relifs of Jacob schulen be in the myddil of many puplis, as dew of the Lord, and as dropis on erbe, whiche abidith not man, and schal not abide sones of men.
7 O resto de Jacó será, no meio de muitos povos, como o orvalho provindo do Senhor, como gotas de chuva sobre a relva, que nada tem a desejar do homem nem a esperar dos filhos dos homens.
8 And relifs of Jacob schulen be in hethene men, in the myddil of many puplis, as a lioun in beestis of the woodis, and as a whelpe of a lioun rorynge in flockis of scheep; and whanne he passith, and defoulith, and takith, there is not that schal delyuere.
8 O resto de Jacó será, entre as nações, no meio de muitos povos, como um leão entre os animais da floresta, como um leãozinho num rebanho de ovelhas: por onde quer que passe, esmaga e despedaça, sem que ninguém lhe arranque a presa.
9 And thin hond schal be reisid on thin enemyes, and alle thin enemyes schulen perische.
9 Levante-se vossa mão contra os vossos adversários e sejam aniquilados todos os vossos inimigos!
10 And it schal be, in that dai, seith the Lord, Y schal take awei thin horsis fro the myddil of thee, and Y schal distrie thi foure horsid cartis.
10 Naquele tempo - oráculo do Senhor -, farei desaparecer teus cavalos do meio de ti, destruirei teus carros,
11 And Y schal leese the citees of thi lond, and Y schal distrie alle thi strengthis; and Y schal do awei witchecraftis fro thin hond, and dyuynaciouns schulen not be in thee.
11 arruinarei as cidades de tua terra, e demolirei todas as tuas fortalezas.
12 And Y schal make for to perische thi `grauun ymagis, and Y schal breke togidere fro the myddil of thee thin ymagis, and thou schalt no more worschipe the werkis of thin hondis.
12 Arrancar-te-ei das mãos os teus sortilégios, e não haverá mais adivinhos no meio de ti.
13 And Y schal drawe out of the middis of thee thi woodis, and Y schal al to-breke thi citees.
13 Tirarei do meio de ti os ídolos e as estelas, e cessarás de adorar a obra de tuas mãos.
14 And Y schal make in woodnesse and indignacioun veniaunce in alle folkis, whiche herden not.
14 Extirparei de tua terra os bosques sagrados e arrasarei tuas cidades.
15 — ausente —
15 Em minha cólera e furor, tomarei vingança das nações que não obedeceram.
