1 Now thou, douyter of a theef, schalt be distried; thei puttiden on vs bisegyng, in a yerde thei schulen smyte the cheke of the iuge of Israel.
1 Agora, ajunta-te em esquadrões, ó filha de esquadrões; pôr-se-á cerco contra nós; ferirão com a vara no queixo ao juiz de Israel.
2 And thou, Bethleem Effrata, art litil in the thousyndis of Juda; he that is the lordli gouernour in Israel, schal go out of thee to me; and the goyng out of hym is fro bigynnyng, fro daies of euerlastyngnesse.
2 E tu, Belém Efrata, posto que pequena entre milhares de Judá, de ti me sairá o que será Senhor em Israel, e cujas origens são desde os tempos antigos, desde os dias da eternidade.
3 For this thing he shal yyue hem til to the tyme in which the trauelinge of child schal bere child, and the relifs of hise britheren schulen be conuertid to the sones of Israel.
3 Portanto, os entregará até ao tempo em que a que está de parto tiver dado à luz; então, o resto de seus irmãos voltará com os filhos de Israel.
4 And he schal stonde, and schal fede in the strengthe of the Lord, in the heiythe of the name of his Lord God; and thei schulen be conuertid, for now he schal be magnefied til to the endis of al erthe.
4 E ele permanecerá e apascentará o povo na força do Senhor , na excelência do nome do Senhor , seu Deus; e eles permanecerão, porque agora será ele engrandecido até aos fins da terra.
5 And this schal be pees, whanne Assirius schal come in to oure lond, and whanne he schal trede in oure housis; and we schulen reise on hym seuene scheepherdis, and eiyte primatis men, ether the firste in dignytee.
5 E este será a nossa paz. Quando a Assíria vier à nossa terra e quando passar sobre os nossos palácios, levantaremos contra ela sete pastores e oito príncipes dentre os homens.
6 And thei schulen frete the lond of Assur bi swerd, and the lond of Nembroth bi speris of hym; and he schal delyuere vs fro Assur, whanne he schal come in to oure lond, and whanne he schal trede in oure coostis.
6 Esses consumirão a terra da Assíria à espada e a terra de Ninrode, nas suas entradas. Assim, nos livrará da Assíria, quando vier à nossa terra e quando calcar os nossos termos.
7 And relifs of Jacob schulen be in the myddil of many puplis, as dew of the Lord, and as dropis on erbe, whiche abidith not man, and schal not abide sones of men.
7 E estará o resto de Jacó no meio de muitos povos, como orvalho do Senhor , como chuvisco sobre a erva, que não espera pelo homem, nem aguarda filhos de homens.
8 And relifs of Jacob schulen be in hethene men, in the myddil of many puplis, as a lioun in beestis of the woodis, and as a whelpe of a lioun rorynge in flockis of scheep; and whanne he passith, and defoulith, and takith, there is not that schal delyuere.
8 E o resto de Jacó estará entre as nações, no meio de muitos povos, como um leão entre os animais do bosque, como um leãozinho entre os rebanhos de ovelhas, o qual, quando passar, as pisará e despedaçará, sem que haja quem as livre.
9 And thin hond schal be reisid on thin enemyes, and alle thin enemyes schulen perische.
9 A tua mão se exaltará sobre os teus adversários; e todos os teus inimigos serão exterminados.
10 And it schal be, in that dai, seith the Lord, Y schal take awei thin horsis fro the myddil of thee, and Y schal distrie thi foure horsid cartis.
10 E sucederá, naquele dia, diz o Senhor , que eu exterminarei no meio de ti os teus cavalos e destruirei os teus carros;
11 And Y schal leese the citees of thi lond, and Y schal distrie alle thi strengthis; and Y schal do awei witchecraftis fro thin hond, and dyuynaciouns schulen not be in thee.
11 e destruirei as cidades da tua terra e derribarei todas as tuas fortalezas;
12 And Y schal make for to perische thi `grauun ymagis, and Y schal breke togidere fro the myddil of thee thin ymagis, and thou schalt no more worschipe the werkis of thin hondis.
12 e tirarei as feitiçarias da tua mão, e não terás agoureiros;
13 And Y schal drawe out of the middis of thee thi woodis, and Y schal al to-breke thi citees.
13 e arrancarei do meio de ti as tuas imagens de escultura e as tuas estátuas; e tu não te inclinarás mais diante da obra das tuas mãos.
14 And Y schal make in woodnesse and indignacioun veniaunce in alle folkis, whiche herden not.
14 E arrancarei os teus bosques do meio de ti; e destruirei as tuas cidades.
15 — ausente —
15 E, com ira e com furor, exercerei vingança sobre as nações que não ouvem.
