1 And the Lord seide to Moyses, Speke thou to preestis, the sones of Aaron, and thou schalt seie to hem, A preest be not defoulid in the deed men of hise citeseyns,
1 O S enhor disse a Moisés: “Dê as seguintes instruções aos sacerdotes, os filhos de Arão. “Nenhum sacerdote deverá se tornar cerimonialmente impuro por causa da morte de alguém do povo.
2 no but oneli in kynesmen and niy of blood, that is, on fadir and modir, and sone and douyter,
2 As únicas exceções são seus parentes mais próximos: mãe ou pai, filho ou filha, irmão
3 and brother and sister, virgyn, which is not weddid to man;
3 ou irmã virgem que dependa dele, uma vez que não tem marido. Nesse caso, poderá contaminar-se.
4 but nether he schal be defoulid in the prince of his puple.
4 O sacerdote não deverá contaminar-se e tornar-se cerimonialmente impuro por causa de algum parente de sua esposa.
5 Preestis schulen not schaue the heed, nether beerd, nether thei schulen make keruyngis in her fleischis; thei schulen be hooli to her God,
5 “Os sacerdotes não rasparão a cabeça, não rasparão a barba rente à pele, nem farão cortes no corpo.
6 and thei schulen not defoule his name; for thei offren encense of the Lord, and the looues of her God, and therfore thei schulen be hooli.
6 Serão consagrados ao seu Deus e jamais desonrarão o nome de Deus, pois são eles que apresentam as ofertas especiais para o S enhor , ofertas de alimento para o seu Deus.
7 A preest schal not wedde a wijf a corrupt womman, and a `foul hoore, nether he schal wedde `hir that is forsakun of the hosebonde, for he is halewid to his God,
7 “Os sacerdotes não se casarão com uma mulher contaminada pela prostituição, nem se casarão com uma mulher divorciada do marido, pois o sacerdote é consagrado ao seu Deus.
8 and offrith the looues of settyng forth; therfor be he hooly, for `Y am the hooli Lord that halewith you.
8 Tratem-no como santo, pois ele traz as ofertas de alimento perante o seu Deus. Considerem-no santo, pois eu, o S enhor , sou santo e santifico vocês.
9 If the `doutir of a preest is takun in defoulyng of virgynite, and defoulith the name of hir fadir, sche schal be brent in flawmes.
9 “Se a filha de um sacerdote se tornar prostituta e, desse modo, se contaminar, também contamina a santidade de seu pai e deverá morrer queimada.
10 The bischop, that is the moost preest among hise britheren, on whose heed the oile of anoyntyng is sched, and whose hondis ben sacrid in preesthod, and he is clothid in hooli clothis, schal not diskyuere his heed, he schal not tere hise clothis,
10 “O sumo sacerdote ocupa a posição mais elevada entre todos os sacerdotes. O óleo da unção foi derramado sobre sua cabeça, e ele foi consagrado para vestir as roupas sacerdotais. Nunca deixará o cabelo despenteado nem rasgará suas roupas em sinal de luto.
11 and outirli he schal not entre to ony deed man; and he schal not be defoulid on his fadir and modir,
11 Não se contaminará por aproximar-se de um cadáver. Não se tornará cerimonialmente impuro nem mesmo por causa de seu pai ou de sua mãe.
12 nether he schal go out of hooli thingis, lest he defoule the seyntuarie of the Lord, for the oile of hooli anoyntyng of his God is on hym; Y am the Lord.
12 Não deixará o santuário, nem contaminará o santuário do seu Deus, pois foi consagrado pelo óleo da unção de seu Deus. Eu sou o S enhor .
13 He schal wedde a wijf virgyn;
13 “O sumo sacerdote somente se casará com uma virgem.
14 he schal not take a widewe, and forsakun, and a foul womman, and hoore, but a damesele of his puple;
14 Não se casará com uma viúva, nem com uma mulher divorciada, nem com uma mulher contaminada pela prostituição. Sua esposa deverá ser uma virgem de seu próprio clã,
15 medle he not the generacioun of his kyn to the comyn puple of his folk, for Y am the Lord, that `halewe hym.
15 para que ele não desonre seus descendentes entre o povo, pois eu sou o S enhor , que o santifico”.
16 And the Lord spak to Moyses,
16 Então o S enhor disse a Moisés:
17 and seide, Speke thou to Aaron; a man of thi seed, bi meynes, that hath a wem, schal not offre breed to his God,
17 “Dê as seguintes instruções a Arão. Nas gerações futuras, nenhum de seus descendentes portador de algum defeito físico estará qualificado para trazer ofertas de alimento ao seu Deus.
18 nethir schal neiy to his seruyce;
18 Nenhum homem que tenha algum defeito estará qualificado, seja ele cego, aleijado, mutilado ou deformado,
19 if he is blind; if he is crokid; if he is ether of litil, ether of greet, and wrong nose; if he is `of brokun foot, ethir hond;
19 ou tenha o pé ou braço quebrado,
20 if he hath a botche; ether if he is blereiyed; if he hath whijt colour in the iye, that lettith the siyt; if he hath contynuel scabbe; if he hath a drye scabbe in the bodi; ethir `is brokun `in the pryuy membris.
20 ou seja corcunda, ou anão, ou tenha um olho defeituoso, ou feridas na pele ou sarna, ou testículos defeituosos.
21 Ech man of the seed of Aaron preest, which man hath a wem, schal not neiye to offre sacrifices to the Lord, nether `to offre looues to his God;
21 Nenhum descendente de Arão que tenha algum defeito se aproximará do altar para apresentar ofertas especiais para o S enhor . Uma vez que tem defeito, não poderá se aproximar do altar para trazer ofertas de alimento ao seu Deus.
22 netheles he schal ete the looues that ben offrid in the seyntuarie,
22 No entanto, poderá comer do alimento oferecido a Deus, das ofertas santas e das ofertas santíssimas.
23 so oneli that he entre not with ynne the veil; he schal not neiye to the auter, for he hath a wem, and he schal not defoule my seyntuarie; Y am the Lord that halewe hem.
23 Mas, por causa de seu defeito físico, não passará adiante da cortina interna nem se aproximará do altar, pois contaminaria meus lugares santos. Eu sou o S enhor , que santifico esses lugares”.
24 Therfor Moises spak to Aaron, and to hise sones, and to al Israel, alle thingis that weren comaundid to hym.
24 Moisés deu essas instruções a Arão, a seus filhos e a todos os israelitas.
