1 But in o dai of the woke ful eerli thei camen to the graue, and brouyten swete smellynge spices, that thei hadden arayed.
1 Ora, no primeiro dia da semana, muito cedo de manhã, elas foram ao sepulcro, levando as especiarias que tinham preparado, e algumas outras com elas.
2 And thei founden the stoon turned awei fro the graue.
2 E elas acharam a pedra do sepulcro revolvida.
3 And thei yeden in, and founden not the bodi of the Lord Jhesu.
3 E, elas entrando, não acharam o corpo do Senhor Jesus.
4 And it was don, the while thei weren astonyed in thouyt of this thing, lo! twei men stoden bisidis hem in schynynge cloth.
4 E aconteceu que, estando elas muito perplexas a esse respeito, eis que pararam junto delas dois homens com vestes resplandecentes;
5 And whanne thei dredden, and boweden her semblaunt in to the erthe, thei seiden to hem, What seken ye hym that lyueth with deed men?
5 e, estando elas com medo, e abaixando as suas faces para o chão, eles lhes disseram: Por que procurais o vivo dentre os mortos?
6 He is not here, but is risun. Haue ye mynde, hou he spak to you, whanne he was yit in Galile,
6 Ele não está aqui, mas está ressuscitado; lembrai-vos como ele vos falou, estando ainda na Galileia,
7 and seide, For it bihoueth mannys sone to be bitakun in to the hondis of synful men, and to be crucified, and the thridde dai to rise ayen.
7 dizendo: O Filho do homem deve ser entregue nas mãos dos homens pecadores, e ser crucificado, e ao terceiro dia ressuscitar.
8 And thei bithouyten on hise wordis.
8 E elas lembraram-se das suas palavras,
9 And thei yeden ayen fro the graue, and telden alle these thingis to the enleuene, and to alle othir.
9 e, retornando do sepulcro, contaram todas essas coisas aos onze, e a todos os demais.
10 And ther was Marie Mawdeleyn, and Joone, and Marie of James, and other wymmen that weren with hem, that seiden to apostlis these thingis.
10 Estas eram: Maria Madalena, e Joana, e Maria, mãe de Tiago, e as outras mulheres que estavam com elas, que contaram estas coisas aos apóstolos.
11 And these wordis weren seyn bifor hem as madnesse, and thei bileueden not to hem.
11 E as palavras delas lhes pareciam contos infundados, e eles não acreditavam nelas.
12 But Petir roos vp, and ran to the graue; and he bowide doun, and say the lynen clothis liynge aloone. And he wente bi him silf, wondrynge on that that was don.
12 Então, Pedro levantando-se, correu para o sepulcro; e, abaixando-se, viu os panos de linho ali postos; e retirou-se, admirando consigo mesmo o que acontecera.
13 And lo! tweyne of hem wenten in that dai in to a castel, that was fro Jerusalem the space of sixti furlongis, bi name Emaws.
13 E eis que, dois deles foram naquele mesmo dia para uma aldeia chamada Emaús, que distava de Jerusalém sessenta estádios;
14 And thei spaken togidir of alle these thingis that haddun bifallun.
14 e iam falando um com o outro sobre todas estas coisas que tinham acontecido.
15 And it was don, the while thei talkiden, and souyten bi hem silf, Jhesus hym silf neiyede, and wente with hem.
15 E aconteceu que, enquanto eles caminhavam juntos e arrazoavam entre si, o próprio Jesus se aproximou, e ia com eles.
16 But her iyen weren holdun, that thei knewen him not.
16 Mas os seus olhos estavam impedidos, para que não o conhecessem.
17 And he seide to hem, What ben these wordis, that ye speken togidir wandrynge, and ye ben sorewful?
17 E ele lhes disse: Que tipo de palavras são essas que tendes um com o outro enquanto caminhais, e estais tristes?
18 And oon, whos name was Cleofas, answerde, and seide, Thou thi silf art a pilgrym in Jerusalem, and hast thou not knowun, what thingis ben don in it in these daies?
18 E um deles, cujo nome era Cléopas, respondendo, disse-lhe: És tu somente um estrangeiro em Jerusalém, e não soube das coisas que nela têm acontecido nestes dias?
19 To whom he seide, What thingis? And thei seiden to hym, Of Jhesu of Nazareth, that was a man prophete, myyti in werk and word bifor God and al the puple;
19 E ele disse-lhes: Quais coisas? E eles lhe disseram: A respeito de Jesus de Nazaré, que foi um profeta poderoso em feitos e palavras diante de Deus e de todo o povo;
20 and hou the heiyest preestis of oure princis bitoken hym in to dampnacioun of deeth, and crucifieden hym.
20 e como os principais sacerdotes e os nossos governantes o entregaram para ser condenado à morte, e o crucificaram.
21 But we hopiden, that he schulde haue ayenbouyt Israel. And now on alle these thingis the thridde dai is to dai, that these thingis weren don.
21 Mas nós esperávamos que fosse ele quem havia de remir Israel; e, todavia, além do mais, já é hoje o terceiro dia desde que essas coisas aconteceram.
22 But also summe wymmen of ouris maden vs afered, whiche bifor dai weren at the graue; and whanne his bodi was not foundun,
22 Sim, e também algumas mulheres de nossa companhia nos surpreenderam, as quais de madrugada foram ao sepulcro;
23 thei camen, and seiden, that thei syen also a siyt of aungels, whiche seien, that he lyueth.
23 e, não achando o seu corpo, elas vieram, dizendo que também haviam tido uma visão de anjos que diziam estar ele vivo.
24 And summe of oure wenten to the graue, and thei founden so as the wymmen seiden, but thei founden not hym.
24 E alguns dos que estavam conosco foram ao sepulcro, e acharam isto mesmo como as mulheres haviam dito; mas a ele não viram.
25 And he seide to hem, A! foolis, and slowe of herte to bileue in alle thingis that the prophetis han spokun.
25 Então, ele lhes disse: Ó tolos, e tardos de coração para crerdes em tudo o que os profetas falaram!
26 Whethir it bihofte not Crist to suffre these thingis, and so to entre in to his glorie?
26 Não convinha que o Cristo sofresse essas coisas e entrasse na sua glória?
27 And he bigan at Moises and at alle the prophetis, and declaride to hem in alle scripturis, that weren of hym.
27 E, começando por Moisés e por todos os profetas, explicou-lhes em todas as escrituras as coisas a seu respeito.
28 And thei camen nyy the castel, whidur thei wenten. And he made countenaunce that he wolde go ferthere.
28 E, aproximando-se à aldeia para onde iam; ele fez como quem ia para mais longe.
29 And thei constreyneden hym, and seiden, Dwelle with vs, for it drawith to nyyt, and the dai is now bowid doun.
29 Mas eles o constrangeram, dizendo: Fica conosco; porque já é tarde, e já declinou o dia. E ele entrou para permanecer com eles.
30 And he entride with hem. And it was don, while he sat at the mete with hem, he took breed, and blesside, and brak, and took to hem.
30 E aconteceu que, estando assentado com eles à mesa, ele tomou o pão e o abençoou, e partiu-o e deu-lhos.
31 And the iyen of hem weren openyd, and thei knewen hym; and he vanyschide fro her iyen.
31 E os seus olhos foram abertos, e eles o reconheceram; e ele desapareceu de diante deles.
32 And thei seiden togidir, Whether oure herte was not brennynge in vs, while he spak in the weie, and openyde to vs scripturis?
32 E eles disseram um para o outro: Não ardia nosso coração enquanto ele falava conosco no caminho, e quando ele nos abria as escrituras?
33 And thei risen vp in the same our, and wenten ayen in to Jerusalem, and founden the enleuene gaderid togidir, and hem that weren with hem,
33 E na mesma hora levantaram-se e retornaram para Jerusalém, e encontraram os onze reunidos, e os que estavam com eles,
34 seiynge, That the Lord is risun verrili, and apperide to Symount.
34 dizendo: De fato o Senhor está ressuscitado, e apareceu a Simão.
35 And thei tolden what thingis weren don in the weie, and hou thei knewen hym in brekyng of breed.
35 E eles contaram que coisas tinham acontecido no caminho, e como o reconheceram no partir do pão.
36 And the while thei spaken these thingis, Jhesus stood in the myddil of hem, and seide to hem, Pees to you; Y am, nyle ye drede.
36 E, enquanto eles falavam isto, o próprio Jesus ficou no meio deles, e disse-lhes: Paz seja convosco.
37 But thei weren affraied and agast, and gessiden hem to se a spirit.
37 Mas eles, espantados e atemorizados, pensavam estar vendo um espírito.
38 And he seide to hem, What ben ye troblid, and thouytis comen vp in to youre hertis?
38 E ele lhes disse: Por que estais perturbados? E por que surgem pensamentos em vossos corações?
39 Se ye my hoondis and my feet, for Y my silf am. Fele ye, and se ye; for a spirit hath not fleisch and boonys, as ye seen that Y haue.
39 Olhai as minhas mãos e os meus pés, que sou eu mesmo; tocai-me e vede, porque um espírito não tem carne nem ossos, como vedes que eu tenho.
40 And whanne he hadde seid this thing, he schewide hoondis and feet to hem.
40 E, falando isso, ele mostrou-lhes suas mãos e seus pés.
41 And yit while thei bileueden not, and wondriden for ioye, he seide, Han ye here ony thing that schal be etun?
41 E, eles ainda não crendo, por causa da alegria e admiração, disse-lhes: Tendes aqui algo de comer?
42 And thei proferden hym a part of a fisch rostid, and an hony combe.
42 Então, eles deram-lhe um pedaço de um peixe assado, e um favo de mel.
43 And whanne he hadde etun bifore hem, he took that that lefte, and yaf to hem;
43 E ele tomou-o e comeu diante deles.
44 and seide `to hem, These ben the wordis that Y spak to you, whanne Y was yit with you; for it is nede that alle thingis ben fulfillid, that ben writun in the lawe of Moises, and in prophetis, and in salmes, of me.
44 E ele disse-lhes: Estas são as palavras que eu vos falei, estando ainda convosco, que era necessário que se cumprissem todas as coisas que foram escritas a respeito de mim na lei de Moisés, e nos profetas, e nos salmos.
45 Thanne he openyde to hem wit, that thei schulden vnderstonde scripturis.
45 Então, ele abriu-lhes o entendimento, para que eles pudessem compreender as escrituras,
46 And he seide to hem, For thus it is writun, and thus it bihofte Crist to suffre, and ryse ayen fro deeth in the thridde dai;
46 e disse-lhes: Assim está escrito, e assim convinha que o Cristo sofresse e ressuscitasse dos mortos no terceiro dia,
47 and penaunce and remyssioun of synnes to be prechid in his name `in to alle folkis, bigynnynge at Jerusalem.
47 e que em seu nome se pregasse o arrependimento e a remissão dos pecados a todas as nações, começando por Jerusalém.
48 And ye ben witnessis of these thingis.
48 E vós sois testemunhas destas coisas.
49 And Y schal sende the biheest of my fadir in to you; but sitte ye in the citee, til that ye be clothid with vertu from an hiy.
49 E eis que, eu envio sobre vós a promessa de meu Pai; mas ficai na cidade de Jerusalém, até que do alto sejais revestidos de poder.
50 And he ledde hem forth in to Betanye, and whanne his hondis weren lift vp, he blesside hem.
50 E ele levou-os para fora, até Betânia, e ele levantando as suas mãos, os abençoou.
51 And it was don, the while he blesside hem, he departide fro hem, and was borun in to heuene.
51 E aconteceu que, enquanto os abençoava, apartou-se deles e foi elevado ao céu.
52 And thei worschipiden, and wenten ayen in to Jerusalem with greet ioye,
52 E eles o adoraram, e retornaram para Jerusalém com grande júbilo;
53 and weren euermore in the temple, heriynge and blessynge God.
53 e estavam continuamente no templo, louvando e bendizendo a Deus. Amém.
